Glad you like it :-) To me it just sounds like they put the mic too far away and opened up the compression to get her voice back. Many sound engineers today think that compression = good sound, without actually having a clue how a microphone works. The song is utterly beautifull but the recording of the piano and expecially her voice... is just... well I think it's horrible.

Absolutely love how some of Victoria's notes are so delicate that they're almost a whisper. Also really like how the piano sounds - gives it kind of a Tom Waits ballad vibe.

This song is not Scary Pockets though. It is not funk and Jack Conte is not playing (and he is half the band). And it wasn't mixed by Caleb Parker like all the others I can find. Great performance anyhow of course.

Wow, I didn't know her before but her voice has everything. It's SO bright and clear up top with a beautiful rub down lower and control on the delicate parts. I love that she doesn't shy away from the edge where her drops off. Perfect cover all around.

Victoria's voice sounds like someone would need to strain themselves to hit each note. Victoria actually singing looks like it is just another one of her senses, like breathing. One of the most beautiful covers I've ever heard. The type of cover that changes the meaning of a song with the same lyrics.

I see a lot of acoustic covers of this song from up and rising artists like phoebe bridgers and lizzy mcalpine and idk if I can attribute it to this rendition. Such a revolutionary cover that even the meaning of "teenage dirtbag" changed (at least for me). Props to the idea of the arrangement and execution of self-expression of the artists behind this cover (including the sound people/engineers responsible for capturing the subtle and raw details of the performance). I played this cover the first time while eating so I wasn't really paying full attention. The girls voice and beautiful piano chords really touched me. So I had to play it again to watch and listen properly. Second time round I just notice her right arm. That's when a tear fell down my eye and I had a lump in my throat. I've now subscribed to her channel. Victoria is an inspiration.
