Appreciate the detailed tutorial, struggling to get going with my KO2 as I’m a complete novice, so videos like these with are great that step through all of the elements and workflow. 🙏
@@PoloTremolo my 1st attempt, learned to load some samples and basic functions, on to beat making 101 next! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QgUuaDilTSs.htmlsi=QmR685gQMWMUqTMv
Fajna recenzja. Jeżeli nastoletni inżynierowie zrobią jakiś konkretny update softu z paroma przydatnymi funkcjami to warto sie zastanowic nad kupnem .No nie wspomnę juz o głośnym "fadergate". Trochę mnie to zraziło do tej firmy,a jestem posiadaczem Po33 i jest Ok to "KO".😀
Thanks, so I guess I answer in Polish then:) Ja również jestem posiadaczem Polyend Trackera i to fantastyczna maszyna! Z pewnością oferuje więcej kreatywnych możliwości przetwarzania próbek, slicing. Mam w planie przetestować też Trackera Mini;)
Thank a lot! Appretiate that:) No, no fader issue, I actually found out about it from other videos. Maybe it regards only some early batch of units? I got mine from distributor in Poland and it works flowlessly
Excellent! Thank you! On a totally unrelated note, i noticed a little bit of camera shake while you were using the unit. I found a cheap workaround for that by clamping the camera to something that’s not on the same surface as thing you’re working with, like a mount on the wall, or a cinder block on the floor near the desk.
Thanks!!! I tried Elgato arm, but it was even more wobbly:( I think the stand was in contact with the desk, I'll check that next time ;) Well, at least you could see I was hitting that machine hard with excitement :) ha ha
Really great video, Iv had mine a couple of weeks now, never used a sampler/groovebox before so really enjoying it, a lot to learn but fun to use and get beats going 🎹
Nice video, thanks for the info. Do you think you need the Y cable to get stereo audio from your iPhone into the KO II? Just wondering why you cant get away with using a regular aux cable. A regular AUX cable carries a stereo signal I thought.
Hi man. How many scenes can you have and how many bars on the sequencer Really 99 !? I see just for bars on the videos out there, I don’t want the loop too short …ps can you using the fx on the audio input …?
It's simple:) 99 patterns per group organized in up to 99 scenes per project (9 projects can be stored), each pattern can be up to 99 bars long, so it's pretty flexible. I think you can also change the signature for 3/4 or 5/5 but haven't yet tried that.
Thats funny, I got this thing days ago and didn't realize the quickstart sheet waas even in the box till I saw it in this vid. I was so worried about not accidentally breaking the fader and all that when I unboxed it that I didn't look at the inside of the packaging where they tucked it away.
Nice job. I think you were powering the K.O. with your computer and so there is a ground loop (buzzing) in the audio. If you power it from an independent USB power like a phone charger you will have no ground loop. Cheers.
I was working with studio monitors and it did not catch my attention. Yeah, you're right, this is definately something I will ckeck for next video. Usually there is no problem, but maybe with unbalanced connection I have to be extra careful. the K.O. should has 98 db signal-to-noise ratio, so it ok.
As far as I remember, all sounds in the techno track are from the factory library. I might have used some sample chords from Splice in hip-hop examples;)
Ha ha:) Well, I never intented really that to be a tutorial;) Just wanted to show the workflow and possibilities. I try to please different groups of people, I think viewiers just want to see the unit in action - maybe I am wrong? But I think about it - maybe next time with other devices I'll do a separate tutorial
@@musoneo Absolutely. I needed to sit and learn a few things first. Then this really helped. I think it's a fun machine that actually kicks out some great tunes!
Thanks for leaveing that comment. I find it increasingly hard to devote time to make music, but when I do, I will definately make some more content with KO II:) I just got new Polyend devices from my friends in Poland, so I guess these will be next:))) See you soon
Q. when you change scenes as it's playing it's immediate...do.. how does it work.. does it jump to bar 1 beat 1 of the new scene or just swap in the middle of where ever you are in the previous scene.. like beat 3 for example?
6 note (stereo) polyphony is not great. 64mb of RAM in 2024 is weak. single FX bus is a big bummer, it's not really made to work with a DAW. it seems like a great idea machine tho, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm super tempted by the form factor. I think it is very inspiring to enjoyable music making
TE either makes the most ridiculously over priced niche things ever (op1, a desk), or a really great value of a product that combines the functionality of multiple devices in one small design for relatively cheap (like the pocket operators and the EP series).
Very cool video but I must say you flew trough the explanation, I just got one and I’m trying to learn hot to use it and it’s not that easy, I have never done this and I’m very curious but as you explain it is at master level not for absolute novices
Super cool device but they have to get their quality control sorted. Ours arrived with the dead fader. Even before it was delivered the store was emailing us to let us know that there are problems with the initial batch. We have to send it back, which is kind of a buzzkill, and wait months for a replacement.
Hej, udało ci się bez problemu włożyć nakładkę na Feder? ja się trochę obawiam dlatego mam wydrukowaną na trzy D; Ta co była orginalnie stawia dość spory opór…
Regarding the fader... Polish: bez problemu, zastosowałem dość duży nacisk i powoli nakładka znalazła się na swoim miejscu. English: I had no problems with attaching the cap on the fader, I put consistent force and waited patiently until it got into its place
Thanks a lot. Actually I borrowed the unit and don’t have it anymore, but I am planning some more in the tutorials about other machines and grooveboxes;)
I had a few Roland gear in the past, including MC-707, and MC 101 and I find the learning curve much steeper - Roland is usually packed with features, and sometimes it requires a lot of my new diving, especially with the built-in sound modules for example MC-101 has a really powerful wavetable/Rom with hundreds of decent instruments, actually K.O. With Roland MC-101 could be a great match
Thanks for leaving that comment! I always try to push the limits to see what’s possible with those small machines:) there are actually very decent samples onboard, so with the right selection you can achieve good results quite quickly
This is a good question:) the workflow is ultra fast, and the unit is very hands on so there is lots of fun with it. I think buying a groovebox like this maybe a good way to start actually. I don’t think you need much skills to program as simple hip-hop or techno beat. It might be easier to start with loops from Splice, but this is the more creative way to go. And you can always switch to DAW for more serious music production later.
I don't remember, but I guess there were some in the factory library, but you can always easily sample something:) I was sampling my voice using built-in mic and some other vocals from iPhone Splice app
Anyone reviewing seriously this device should address the bugs and hardware issues. Cause it’s a big part of the experience here. Great video. And sick bass/drum beat
Thanks for leaving that comment - I actually took 30-40 minutes off-line to make sure the levels were right, I change the factory kick from 14 to 12 I think, swapped the hihat and added congas, also from the factory sounds:)))
You can record the output to the computer, but it is not really intented to be used with a computer, maybe you could sync it with DAW and record on a a separate channel;)
Until it gets resampling and effects for each sample it’s easily beaten by a 5 buck app called Koala. They should have skipped paying the Ali family money and paid to finish the software. And 16mb of memory is hhiilllaaarioussss.
I found out that my fingers not always work with touch screen, sometimes I have to swipe five times to answer the phone;))) I prefer physical knobs and buttons, also it allows to train muscle memory - I could programm my Korg and Moog synths without looking ;) 64 MB is not that bad in my opinion - it is not a computer, more a magical calculator;))
