For all the talk about the influence of Big Star on Bandwagonesque, this song is the exception. It's more like a poppier MBV/Dinosaur Jr., with an ace tune underpinning it courtesy of Gerard Love. The first of a long string of great albums from TFC.
YES! My Girlfriend Laci and I used to put this tape on when we went to bed.. Everynight I slept over her house in Elkins Park, we had this tape on all night. What a fabulous time in my life! Ah to be 19 again!!!!
I remember first time hearing the song , I was just hypnotized. 30 yrs later big fan of Classical music and with successful medical career, that song still move me tremendously. Music is interesting thing .
I remember years ago going to a concert for another band and someone was wearing a shirt that said "Teenage Fucking Fanclub". Yeah, Teenage Fucking Fanclub.
i bought the cassette in 1992 not knowing what to expect. an exciting era when media such as YT was not available yet to hear samples and can only listen to songs until you buy it.
Still love this song. I always felt the album version of this track should have been the first track. The long intro and the kick into the groove sums up what I love about these guys. Tops!
i just saw these guys open up to superchunk last night in seattle. i remember buying this tape in college. i'm happy to say, they sound better than ever!
Takes me back to my garage band days in the mid 1970's! God...its a bitch being 60 years old today! So many great times. The mind is willing , but the body...um...not so much!
The best year for music since 1967! The music was introspective, yet colourful. Shoegaze made it all come together in some sort of glorious mush. My band made a video that year that is on RU-vid. We mostly ended up heading to university as it was difficult to make a go of it in Canada. Check out “ One Chance” by Garden Traffic.
Some say Pavement was the best band of the 90's... I think that's a bit too much to say about Pavement, but for Teenage Fanclub... I would say they are the best of the 90's any day.
leonardokula I mean pavements pretty fucking good. I love Teenage Fanclub too. Not to sound like a normie, but Nirvana or Radiohead is probably the best band of the 90s
I turned on a girl to this band back in 91 or 92. I let her borrow my cassette tape. She returned it and said she really liked this band. 30 years later I wonder where she is. I really liked her but I was a introverted wallflower back then. Listening to this reminds me think of her. Melody....where ever you are....I hope life has treated you well....also Shannon says hi:)
Nobody can touch that trilogy: "Bandwagonesque", "Grand Prix" and "Songs from Northern Britain" (one the synonymes of the word "beauty" is this album). Those albums are pinacles on how to write SONGS full of heart, intensity and sensibility, long live TF!!!
@@etherealcatholic5711 I always preferred the classic OG Dave Kendall era of 120 Minutes over that of Matt Pinfield. There was just something about the vibe when Matt took over that didn't have me so enthused, yet I still managed to watch fairly often. I reckon maybe it was his voice, for starters...
ISSO É MAIS QUE MARAVILHOSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DEMAIS AMOOOOOOOO
