Benny Andersson on piano and keyboards, Bjorn Ulvaeus on guitar, Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad (dark hair) and Agnetha Faltskog (blonde) on vocals. Both are lead singers in the group. The guys are the song writers and producers. They were both married couples at one point, got divorced but continued as a band for a while. Ultimately, they all remained good friends. Their popularity in Europe and beyond is huge. Their Greatest Hits album is currently number 5 in the UK and has been in the official album charts for 1130 weeks - that's since 2002. Try 'Does Your Mother Know' to hear Bjorn on lead vocal.
Oh it jumped to no5 this week?!!!good news!just checked it!Back in the top 10 again!yeyyy! And hey Chase, btw since mentioned That was no1 in 3 different occassion.1991/1998/2008. 2nd best selling album in UK ever there.
For another Bjorn lead vocal also check out the “Rock Me” video and I am usually not a fan of live videos, but, for this particular ABBA song it’s definitely a must see because Bjorn kills it (in a good way 😊) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YL2lJgNajYM.htmlsi=EPkPee2HReN0ZaS9
@@jerrycote659 Ooohh!Hey Jerry Hadn't seen this performance!I knew the ones from a couple of shows plus the famous one from '77 live Australia that was electric but not this one. They look stunning.
@@Vikinggirl1679 In contrary to you I want the people to know the truth. And when someone says something wrong I correct him. Benny wasn't married with Frida in 1976. Quite apart from that your second sentence makes no sense. "he the main singer in this video" What does that mean?
Not to forget the 5th Abba member, the engineer Michael B. Tretow who also is a big influence on the Abba sound. A genius with studio wizardly. Also, they never repeated themselves, every song they recorded sounds different. They never used a formula that many other artists do. They recorded a song during the Arrival sessions 1975/76, Funky Feet, but thought it was to similar to Dancing Queen so they gave it to another Swedish artists, Svenne & Lotta in 1976. They were a couple and Svenne Hedlund was the singer in the 60s pop group Hep Stars where Benny also was a member of. Another favorite "Abba" song. Benny Andersson released an album a few years ago, Piano, where he plays some Abba songs and others hes written only on piano. You should check that out.
It probably seems different due to Frida's darker, deeper voice taking the lead. This video won Best Use of Kimonos at the Grammys (I made that up). You need to set up the Benny Andersson Fan Club.
I'd say Frida sings it low because the theme and tone of the song required it. Certainly a lower voice than Agnetha but not low really, as you will find, the two of them could soar high with their vocals, especially when singing in harmony. That said, I should declare that Frida is my favourite. All day long. 🤩🤩🤩
Benny is a Mozart's fan... He's a musical genius... so is Björn, who wrote most of the lyrics and collaborates with Benny on the musical composition... And the girls...❤❤❤ well... what a girls!... and what a voices!... See u soon, Chase... Happy Holidays ✌️. ❤️🇨🇱🤗👍
Thanks, Chase! Have you ever seen the movies MAMMA MIA (2008) or MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN (2018)? They take ABBA songs and weave them into a story about mother, daughter and multiple possible fathers. It's cute. The first one was originally a Broadway musical. ABBA members Björn Ulvaeus (guitar) and Benny Andersson (keyboard/piano) were heavily involved in the music production, mixing, etc.
It has been said this it was based on Frida who never met her father, a German soldier in ww2 during their occupation of Norway, until well into adulthood. Her mother died when she was 2 and grandma took her to Sweden for her saftey and that's where she grew up.
@@auntvesuvi3872 yes. Fridas father was a soldier in nazi Germany army her mother a Norwegian teenager. Norway did not take kindly to German soldiers children or their mothers. Terrible things happened to them. Fridas grandmother knew this and fled with her to Sweden..
Hey great song great reaction. So nice to see a new generation discover this incredible Swedish band. ABBA comes from the initials of their first names Agnetha (blonde singer ) Benny(piano player) Bjorn (guitarist) Anni-Frid (red haired singer) Benny and Anni-Frid aka Frida were married as were Bjorn and Agnetha. They can sing any type of music. They even did a reggae song called Tropical Loveland with Benny on accordian ( his first and favorite instrument) Frida was trained in opera and jazz.
You'll get used to saying "that sounds different to the other ABBA songs I've listened to" Their music is recognisable as their own but they managed to make almost everything they did sound different to what they did before. Benny's skills as pianist/keyboardist and composer are incredible.
Hi Chase, the year of this single release was 1976. Benny has a bit of classical style to his music compositions that just comes naturally. Amazing because to this day he does not read or write music he just remembers it in his spirit. He will just start playing the piano and may be for hours even days until a new music melody comes to his ear. Benny has said before it is like coaxing a dragon out of a cave, to get that full melody to fruition.
You have so much joy yet to experience with ABBA as their catalogue is vast. The ironic thing about this song was Frida was singing about wanting money and how to get it. But ABBA themselves were the biggest selling artists at the time and Swedens biggest export, even bigger than the Volvo car manafacturers.
Different ABBA? Well they were very eclectic in musical taste and so their music is very diverse. Try "The day before you came," very different 80's synth ambiance track or "Eagle," which is more of a prog rock/pop hybrid. But honestly every ABBA song is very different beyond the disco theme running through several of their late 70's hits,, Mama Mia is very different to Dancing Queen for example.
Benny is a pianist the same way Eddie Van Halen was a guitarist. Pure freaking creative genius. For 50 years, he's had an office that he goes to 5 days/week and writes music; he's serious about it as a job. There's a piano in the ABBA museum that's electronically hooked up to his piano and plays whatever he's playing throughout the day. Other good ABBA piano/keyboard songs: Waterloo, Rock and Roll Band, Bang-A-Boomerang, So Long, Knowing Me Knowing You, As Good As New, The Winner Takes It All, Andante Andante, Happy New Year, Out Last Summer, When All Is Said and Done, Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, Hole In Your Soul, I Wonder, Angeleyes, Does Your Mother Know?, The King Has Lost His Crown, Chiquitita, Kisses of Fire, and Cassandra. Though really, all ABBA songs have strong piano components. You make your channel very enjoyable; keep going! 👍
a separate comment, to help you in your interpretation of ABBA's music and songs so far you made 5 songs: S.O.S. Mamma Mia Dancing Queen Money money money Gimme gimme gimme If you look carefully, they are all different, because ABBA is also different Coming from Sweden, ABBA's musical influences have been very varied, this is evident in the versatility of its style, although its essence is pop music. and you still have to discover two folkloric ballads, like Fernando and Chiquitita, both world famous and breakup songs, an ABBA specialty, like "Knowing me knowing you" and "The winner takes it all", also worldwide hits but ABBA rose to world fame almost 50 years ago, winning Eurovision (the most important musical contest in Europe, even today) with a glam rock song: "Waterloo" (1974) I suggest that last one as your next reaction. put 3 words in the search of RU-vid: 'ABBA Eurovision Waterloo' and choose the live performance you will see the most famous performance in the history of Eurovision Song Contest and in peak months they will surely be feted for the 50th anniversary of their their icónic victory
HNY Lisa.Good suggestion to this instrumental great. I love The LIVE "77 version that is more fun and exciting. He jumps up n down in that piano like a smiling naughty kid
@@christianoazzuro6711 Thanks, Christiano and HNY to you, too. Yes, it's great live but it's not the whole song, so he should react to the studio version first. ☺
Hello , so nice to see you again reaction to ABBA songs "Money money money" (1976) it is a very good song in a different musical style, cabaret type, set in another era "Money money money" is the single that followed "Dancing Queen" and reached # 3 in the UK, #1 in Australia and several European countries. It is a totally different song from its predecessor "Dancing Queen" and also from its successor "Knowing me knowing you" This is the versatility of ABBA, they go from genre to genre, as well as from success to success The song lends itself very well to the brunette Frida's lower voice, the choruses are sharper in contrast (and very catchy) The instrumentation is excellent The official video is one of ABBA's best, very creative, it shows Them in fashion situations and also with their famous kimonos But a few months before ABBA premieres the new official lyric video of "Money money money" I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs My best regards to You from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
Hey Chase... I did warn you about your views going wild on this ABBA journey 😊 Can't wait for you to check out Benny on piano in Chiquitita.. especially the outtro.. you'll love it!

If already this one reminds you of Bohemian Rhapsody then please do a reaction to 'I Let The Music Speak'. That one is called ABBA's Bohemian Rhapsody. 😍
I like your reactions. If you want to delve further into Bennys development as an musician, and react to it, that would be great! Then I recommend: 1. A young Benny, before ABBA, playing keyboard in a rock/popband called Hep stars ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8I10nTYEKF8.htmlsi=4G56MvXhbHTqNeAG 2. Thank you for this - a couple of recommendations: they are both from later contributions from Benny and Bjorn, with their more theatrical/classical ventures, but so SO good. 'Anthem' from 'CHESS' and 'You Have To Be There' from 'KRISTINA FRAN DUVEMALA'. God bless you :)
i'm a 55yo Brit. Ive been able to appreciate all kinds of music my whole life but my biggest love has always been metal. Nirvana is just a diff leage from anything else, BUT in my humble opinion ABBA are also in a leage of their own and are the greatest group ever. Ofc its not as cool as thinking that title goes to the Beatles. ABBA werent pot-smoking hippies. No street cred was ever earned for loving ABBA. That doesnt change the facts though.
haha, I'm guessing you'e a pianist too. Right? I did like that arpeggio at the end of the intro. 😁 Other ABBA songs to check out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ln-Ua2teJKw.html Lay all your love on me ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T_xFpjlrF38.html Visitors ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CE93RUG8A1E.html On and On and On These three songs were huge hits in the late 70s and 80s in all the gay dance dars.

So basically it seems all you care about is Benny on the piano and nothing about the women who are the MAIN focus in ABBA! Hardly if EVER mentions the flawless singing of both Frida and Agnetha but goes on and on and on (pun intended) about Benny. I don’t know what it is about male reactor’s and their disregard for female singers! But welcome to that club.
I am sure there is NO male reactor who disregards Frida and Agnetha (though a few disregard Frida). In my opinion Björn and Benny often don't get the credits they deserve in music reactions because all are only focussing at the women. But without the music and lyrics of B+B there would be no ABBA. So it's only fair when their work is mentioned a bit more in reactions.
This one would be on the top 10 of any Abba fans list, and picking up one of the lyrics in that song well - suffice to say that any bloke who wouldn't have fancied either of the ABBA girls back then, far as I'm concerned would have needed an eye test! :-D
