With the announced show, I could see them doing a thing where each episode is focused on a different villain mutant from this film, fully fleshing out the origin form their perspective, and giving them one on one time with the turtles
Cannot wait to see 11 minutes of each episode where bebop and rocksteady fighting over rhe couch, scum bug and splinter kissing, frog and mondo gecko chilling and leatherhead baking pie
Woke money grab=major changes. Also, let’s keep encouraging mindless kids that you can learn martial arts by being glued to a screen all day. Can’t be balanced when you slam woke writing into the throats of the ones with wallets.
Yeah, I saw it with a friend last night, and we both had a blast! The only thing I thought got a little obnoxious was the abundance of pop culture references which I fear will inevitably date the film in a few years time. Also, Donnie sounded prepubescent.
As a longtime turtle fan, I was worried about the lore changes for this movie (I had heard about them before seeing the movie) but even though the movie isn’t the most comic accurate, I was pleasantly surprised at how well they handled the changes they made. However, it’s clear that others do not agree with me, as the origin changes seem to be one of the main gripes long time turtle fans have with this movie. Now I’m interested to see how Rogen, Rowe, etc. handle the next movie and show with these changes to the story.
Some people just put far too much weight in original lore. Movies need to adapt to the times, while still paying homage to the source material. This once I think did a great balancing act while freshening up the franchise. The movie didn’t spit in the face of the lore, it bent it into a new form that works. Shouldn’t let preconceived baggage ruin it.
@@michaelm.3641 I completely agree. This version is so fresh and different, but still a love letter to the story of the Ninja Turtles. I loved this movie and look forward to the future of this franchise.
I've been a turtle fan since the original series throughout the 90s when I was a kid. This movie was AWESOME. I loved every minute of it. The best part was seeing my little girl becoming a ninja turtles fan like her old man... Made me a bit emotional. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Well it's just frustrating that he claimed as DK thst he doesn't do "character voices" he just does jmhis voice for every character he voices. But here he clearly gives bebop a character voice Hes really frustrating. If it's his project he cares and tries, if not he's only there for a paycheck
I saw this movie yesterday and I absolutely ADORED it. The animation was beautiful, the voice acting was stellar and despite the humans looking more like mutants than the actual mutants, I really liked the character design.
I saw the movie last night and had a blast, as a teen myself who grew up with the 2012 turtles, the turtles are like any other high school kid and I love this movie for that

Now I’m interested to see how Rogen, Rowe, etc. handle the next movie and show these changes to the story. This film was a fun movie man. Loved the art style and animation. Plus finally got actual teenagers to voice the turtles. Very good. This is honestly one of the best films I’ve ever seen, I recently rewatched the most recent turtle films and ofc the OG 90’s film. I can completely understand why some people think this isn’t that great, and that’s alright, but I personally just really enjoyed this film and I can attest that (from my experience) this is what teens (even younger kids in general) are like I just saw the movie and it was amazing! I give it a 9/10. It was a little hard to see what was going on in that 3rd act cuz of the animation but overall it was good. The action was good. The humor was a hit or miss. The moral of the story is what’s good too. Every kid should watch this and see that no matter how different you are you will never be alone. I’m going to watch it again but this time in 3D! I saw it at the early screening, I enjoyed the film and all the references to other cartoon films they included but I think that they could have included more action in the film especially in the fight against Superfly but the mid-credits scene does have me excited for the sequel. Hopefully, the Paramount+ series will be good. I'm definitely going to see it this weekend but I'm curious to see the public reception of this film considering there were so many people dumping on this movie when the trailer came out. But regardless I'm hyped I saw the movie last night and had a blast, as a teen myself who grew up with the 2012 turtles, the turtles are like any other high school kid and I love this movie for that 1 day ago (edited) As an 11-year fan of the tent this movie looks so amazing to me Im super excited to watch this movie and your reviews are the best for all the movies It's great to hear that you gave the soundtrack a positive! Trent and Atticus never disappoint with their work! I hope Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can get a trilogy that's consistent in quality. I loved the original two movies. I loved the two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies that Michael Bay produced. I was disappointed that he couldn't make a third movie after how bright and engaging Out of the Shadows was. I heard that this movie is setting up a series that's gonna be on paramount+ Hats off to 3Cfilms for the content he always finds for us, excited for this one for sure, been a fan of Heroes in a Half Shell since a kid I always thought how living in the sewers must suck, and I'm glad this movie went into that, especially with Splinter being an overprotective dad. I saw the movie yesterday with my dad, AND WE BOTH LOVED IT SO MUCH!! I can’t wait for it to be officially released tomorrow!! just finished watching it. it was a pretty enjoyable experience and I really liked how they focused on the teenage aspect of the turtles more than anything. 7.5/10 for me. My only complaint was how little we got of the other mutants and what makes it more frustrating is I found out after watching the movie with my friends showed me that the film's novel has more scenes with them why would they cut those come out with hawkeye and Kate Bishop One of the greatest art styles brought to a motion picture of all time, insane creativity : D Although I’ve only seen the old 90S TMNT movie, I was pretty hyped for this movie when they dropped that first teaser for this movie. So am super excited to watch this movie. I saw it last night and this review is SPOT ON. To anyone reading this who may have been on the fence for whatever - GO SEE THIS FRICKING MOVIE! Even if you're not familiar with this franchise or it's been years since you've seen the other movies - between the storytelling, acting, graphics, and soundtrack...you will not be disappointed! The turtles being voiced by teenagers is a game changer and April (Sydney from The Bear) stole the show for me. If everyone can go see Mutant Mayhem this weekend so I can have a solo cry-sesh to Barbie, that would be great! In the movie slaps hard man I love how u can see the turtles start to develop into their roles as the movie goes on What I would have liked to see was more of the turtles helping individual people, like the Spider heroes on the bridge scene in across the Spider-Verse.

I really hated the fact that they made Rafael so different, Raf is suppose to be a hot headed jock, who butts with Leo, but in this movie he was out of shape and goofy, I really hope the Raf and Leo butting heads dynamic comes back into play
Warning spoilers below Mrbeast had a cameo in the movie, he is the guy at the beginning who said splinter was in a bad Mickey Mouse costume, and then he touches his ears and says it real and he can’t believe he touched it.
I’ve seen this movie yesterday and I’ve got to say maybe it’s recency bias, but this is my favorite not only depiction of the turtles but favorite turtles movie keep up the good work, Cris
Fun fact, did you know that the voice actor plays Leonardo in mutant? Mayham actually used voice gumball I think he first voiced him in the episode called the copycat good yeah I thought that was really cool fact
I'm definitely going to see it this weekend but I'm curious to see the public reception on this film considering there was so many people dumping on this movie when the trailer came out. But regardless I'm hyped
I’m still a little bummed that ROTTMNT got canceled but if this movie is as good as you say it is, Chris, then I don’t mind having these turtles stick around for awhile. I’ll probably give that spinoff show that you mentioned a watch.
As an 11 year fan of the tmnt this movie looks so amazing to me Im super excited to watch this movie and your reviews are the best for all the movies 😁
Although I’ve only seen the old 90S TMNT movie, I was pretty hyped for this movie when they dropped that first teaser for this movie. So am super excited to watch this movie.
You should add in your 3cFilm ranking where it says Cinephile, Critical, Casual ranking, a tomato-meter now that you’re a rotten tomatoes critic. So when you’re giving it A+, A-, A-, you can also add your own rotten tomato ranking.
Maaaaaaan as someone who grew up in the 80’s watching the TMNT’s, this was absolutely awesome!!! It was funny., the action was stunning and, to me, it was one of better iterations of all the ninja turtle movies!!! Must watch
I saw it at the early screening, I enjoyed the film and all the references to other cartoon films they included but i think that they could have included more action in the film especially in the fight against Superfly but the mid credits scene does have me excited for the sequel. I love tmnt so much since I was small, I work at the movies now and get to see everyone watch tmnt mutant mayhem and get to see them have a great time :) PS I also got the popcorn bucket combo :>
I wish the tone was a little more serious, but I'm going to sit back and wait because I would think since they're literally teens. There is going to be tons of room for growth with these turtles.
I hope Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can get a trilogy that's consistent in quality. I loved the original two movies. I loved the two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies that Michael Bay produced. @@captainmartin1219 I just recently rewatched them the first one was fucking terrible, and the second was is a major improvement over the first but still not great.
Huge Turtles fan here. Not my favorite turtle movie, but not the worst either. Animation was the best thing about this film. I hated some of the obviously Seth Rogen trademarks like the puke scenes, some of the dialogue, and the complete bastardizing of their origin story. Just wish they'd finally make a Turtles film that really captures the tone and seriousness of the Mirage comics and not the slapstick comedic side.
Other than the use of villains in the film, my biggest questions were in regards to the ninjitsu (learning and use) along with the ending. While those points could’ve been gripes for me, I just had to keep remembering that every iteration of the Turtles are intentionally different, and I’m glad to have each of them. 🙂
April O’neal isn’t a reporter, she’s also a teenager and she’s not the original skin color. My question is why even name her April O’Neal? Why not just make her an original character? I’m surprised Cris wouldn’t address this.
She is a reporter (for her school paper) , not the first April O’Neal in TMNT history to be a teenager this like the 3rd time… seems the only issue you have is with the skin color… man if only there was a word for people who disliked others just for their skin color??🤔
I did not enjoy this movie. I understand reboots and all that, but this is the second TMNT movie franchise in a row to completely bungle Splinter's backstory and make an afterthought out of the entire ninja aspect. Glad it's doing well and that kids are enjoying it. Just not for me.
Bro, I think it looks pretty awesome, from the trailers and having been a TMNT fan since '87, I'm excited! Having said that, the obvious "woke" crap, has got to GO! I mean, okay, April is obviously race swapped and "full figured", which is weird... but I can deal. What I REALLY don't like, is that Wingnut and most of all ....friggin LEATHERHEAD are females!!! NO! I don't care if it's an "unpopular" opinion or not, but my DUDE, Leatherhead, should have NEVER been sex swapped!! Simply based on the biology of a female alligator being only 40% the size of a male! There are complaints I have about what I've seen, in regards to some of the other mutants, but I'm pretty open minded (except for Leatherhead being a girl. Wtf?), so I'll watch it before TOTALLY knocking it, because it DOES still, look pretty badass! Imagine how awesome it'd DEFINITELY be, if Rogan had "stuck to the script", as it were. Sik
I'm not a fan of the origin story of splinter. It's pretty lame how he learned ninjitsu through RU-vid. I'm hoping he lied to protect the turtles, he is older than what he said which would be 35 or possibly older because he didn't say he was 20 he said he'd been on the streets for 20 years. So maybe hopefully he's running from his past with shredder.
Dude, I just did a review of this movie, and I'm usually pretty proud of my insight, but then I watched your review - so much better. I'm impressed with your synopsis...specifically your description of the artwork - like a student scribbling in his notebook at school. Bravo.
I feel the exact same way when I watch other peoples reviews lol I feel like I did terrible elaborating while others describe it better. So don’t beat yourself up! I’m sure your review is great!!
Unfortunately I did not like this movie as most of the majority people. I like the cast and the final battle but everything else I just felt it was just okay. Not a bad movie just I am not vibing with this one. Just me. I also feel the movie was a bit underwhelming and slow as well as the action was just average.
It’s crazy how times goes by so fast. So many comments saying they grew up with the 2012 version, that’s just ten years ago 😂 I love the first 2 90s films so much and the 80s cartoon it makes it hard to get into these new ones. It’s still good but ten years from now I’ll still just remember the 90s version. There was something different in the early 90s, movies had a vibe. Tim burton Batman, tmnt, they just got the vibe and music right. Everything today is better and flashy but lacks that vibe. It’s hard to explain
This is honestly one of the best films I’ve ever seen, i recently rewatched the most recent turtle films and ofc the OG 90’s film. I can completely understand why some people think this isn’t that great, and that’s alright, but I personally just really enjoyed this film and I can attest that (from my experience) this is what teens (even younger kids in general) are like 😂😂
If I bring up Into the Spiderverse with regards to the animation, it’ll be that they’re both out of the box products of this new 3D-animation renaissance that Spiderverse arguably kicked off. However, if I’m comparing the animation to something else, I’d have to go with the Mitchells vs the Machines and Arcane.
Sorry but you lost me when you said you like Seth Rogan, he ruined it for me. What they did to April O'Neil is unforgivable. They made her unwatchable. They ruined the lore and reduced Splinter to a parody of himself.
Hey Chris where you at big fan of the Mirage Comics 2003 Animated Series which was a dark version of TMNT story. And one of the early comic books.....When the character of April O'Neil was first conceived, she was initially planned to be Asian, but was named after an African-American woman that Eastman had married. Eastman has since claimed that April is supposed to be mixed-race(Black and White).
I loved it but the only thing that bothered me was Donnie portraying the comedic role and not Mikey. I still believe they should have swapped the voice actors for those characters but that's just me 🤷♂️
The problem with this movie is that it takes the turtles from non-fighting outcasts to fully accepted members of society. This means that at no point will this particular version of the turtles actually be a crime fighting team hiding in the sewers..They wont actually be "ninjas". They spanned way too much in a single film.
I usually watch these reviews after I see the movie but I’m so excited for this ninja turtle movie It’s gonna be the first turtle movie I’m going to see in theaters !
It's not that April's design is something new that puts me off, it just does not look good in my opinion. Like I'm not saying they can't add representation for the OG April, the design just doesn't look good for me
Seems like a fun movie, but I'm not interested in this take of Ninja Turtles, so I might end up skipping. Hoping they go back to the darker take on the turtles sometime before I die. Hopefully it does well tho.
Seen it yesterday and came out absolutely loving it! Can't wait to see how it evolves with another film and the series. Ray Fillet was the GOAT😁 Great video Cris!
Just watched! Finally a good movie maybe even a solid rebirth since the original movies that I loved! I’m 36 and this was so refreshing. Hope they go long ways with this. I was always Michaelangelo as a kid lol turtles are back.
I was really geeking out while watching there are some little nick picks I don't like but it was really good and kinda also have a similar ending to another TMNT movie
I feel like they got the characters wrong. Idk why the gecko was basically Michelangelo and Michelangelo's actor didn't match the character at all. If anything they should have had Donatello and Michelangelo actors swap. Almost completely killed my interest. Not to say the movie is bad or anything, but when you can't get the core characters right, it's a problem. Not to mention, most of the comic relief came from Donatello and Michelangelo was almost a background character.
It's funny you should mention the movie leaving things open for the other mutants because not ONLY is there a sequel coming. But Paramount is going to be releasing a new animated series based around this iteration of the TMNT. On top of that, Nick plans on airing ALL of the episodes of the classic 80s series soon
