Teens Celebrate Getting Rejected From College 

“Rejection is a part of life, and it’s time that people understand you don’t always get a trophy.” I actually respect her perspective.

I’m here for this state of mind. Rejection isn’t the end of the world, and it’s great that they’re understanding it’s a part of life. Good on them!

Honestly they're just trying to cope and I'm proud of them.

Honestly I’m all for this!!! Enough of jobs and colleges making us feel inferior! Always look at the bad things in positive light.

One of the biggest blessings in my life was getting rejected by University of Portland. That forced me into community college where I graduated with no loans and transferred to one of the top UCs (also graduating with no loans)

Life is nothing but rejections once you near the end of highschool. -College rejections -Hundreds of rejected job applications -Romance rejections (mainly for men) -And more!

Finally. Something I would’ve loved to participate in. We need more counselors like her, not just focusing on the 4.0 genius students but the rest of the students as well

If it makes anyone feel better, I got accepted to every college I applied to (including one that was mentioned), but I've gotten rejected by almost every employer since I graduated from college 3 years ago. I even got rejected for a janitor position. It goes to show that sometimes it's really just a matter of luck, and good luck eventually comes your way.

I like this idea. Plus these students get to see a bunch of other students got rejected also so you don’t feel like it was just you.

You don't have to go to college to make something of yourself!!!! Keep pushing forward

THIS is how you cope! With a straight back, a smile and camaraderie. You learn more with rejection/failure than you ever will with success. Well done to the teacher who thought this up, and well done to the students for facing this together 🤘🏽👍🏾

Do your first 2 years at a junior college. You can get an Associates degree. Then, take the credits that will transfer to a university. That is how I got into Arizona State University 🎉 Never give up!

once I heard you reasoning I understand. getting used to rejection as such a young age especially something such impact as college is great character building.

I like this. They're not getting participation trophies like they said, but they're not saying "You failed." They're learning to accept their failures while also being there to support each other.

I like this. I remember my Uni rejection letters! They stung indeed. When they started coming and no acceptances were coming it made me feel like I was mediocre. I pushed through it and my parents were supportive. Out of 8 or 10 Uni’s I got accepter to 3.

Such a great idea! Rejection can be a blessing in disguise. I remember when I was rejected from my "dream" college. I ended up going to a different one and was able to successfully internally transfer into a 6-year doctoral program...wasted no time and would not have had this opportunity at my "dream" school...no regrets thank God!

This is insanely good. They will get accepted eventually and move on with their lives. Treating every rejection like the end of the world kills the soul slowly.

This video is so touching and beautiful. I admire their strength and happiness. They didn’t let a rejection define them. When I got rejected from college, I was so broken and lost. But these kids showed me that there’s more to life than a letter.

Awesome. I went to community college then a state school. I only had a 1.9 GPA so I’m proud of these kids breaking into Great Schools.

I framed mine. I applied to Ivy league colleges with a 2.3 GPA

This is so freaking cool to see! I went to a school where competitiveness was encouraged, and perfection was expected. College decisions were SUCH an emotional time for everyone and those that didn’t get in just had to hide it or carry around that shame. This is so beautiful and a great lesson for these kids to learn!

Hey, high schoolers! 😁 If you choose something other than your dream university or dream city, you might think you're "settling," but it's possible that you're saving yourself a ton of financial life stress! High schoolers don't exactly make the best financial decisions, but student loans can hang over your head for years, if not your whole life! While I got accepted into Baylor (my dream school at the time), they offered me mostly loans and my dad straight up told me no. He said my options were scholarships, grants, and/or a job, but absolutely no loans. And Baylor's a good $50-$60k a year so I had to kiss that dream goodbye. I love my dad forever for this!!!❤ I ended up going to a regional school in a boring but friendly little town and graduated with no student debt and no alcoholism. Got a job at this school and through their employee educational assistance program was able to get my Master's without paying a dime of tuition. I now live in this town with my husband. We can afford to expand our family and we just bought a house (that we can afford) because the cost of living is ridiculously low compared to other areas of the country, or even other areas of our state. Also, my husband didn't even go college and he still makes more than I do.

This was probably so therapeutic. I wish I had this when I graduated and like they’re not hard about it they got rejected. It’s just sharing it. I think it’s great.

The more rejection you handle, the stronger you become! Facing a tremendous amount of rejections is the best thing that can happen to you. We learn more from our failure than our victory.

I’m happy that this school is trying to keep these students hopes up, as well as having them celebrate their rejections. Because after every failure there is always another chance. ❤

Getting into anything like for myself into dental school, and applying to a post doctorate program, there's more rejection than acceptance. It's the truth and we shouldn't be ashamed of the rejection as it's a process of applying. What matters is that you did your best and you keep moving forward! You have to crack some eggs to make a cake. Love the optimism and realism of applying! Congrats to all!

What an absolutely wonderful school! This is how you set up your students for life, allowing them so see rejection as something that happens and not something that should break you down. Biggest respect to all of the admins and teachers that were apart of creating and planning this

I wish I had this when I was in high school! I cried when I got rejected but hen I went to a community college and you know what? It was not bad :) I loved it ❤ I found out that getting an associates and then going back to the same school to learn a trade was ok!! I wish society would realize that not everyone is meant for a 4 year degree 📜

When I was 15 and graduated from german middle school, I considered myself a complete failure. I had no friends, got only rejected by girls and also the graduation school I wanted to continue at. Today at 29 I have realized that failure is the norm, not the end. When you're young its just more difficult to put things into perspective.

I applaud this positive approach and mindset move from the school for the students. More than education, having a positive mindset about life and taking setbacks as stepping stones is much needed for students. I wish this becomes a real trend in all schools.

We have seen far too many students die of su*cide after failed college entrance exams. This is a great way to keep spirits high and continue on achieving their dreams.

This is a great idea! I’m here for it! Though I received several acceptance letters and scholarships back in the day, the one rejection letter always stood out. I had written a passionate essay on why I wanted to attend, so I took the rejection a little personally. When one rejection closes a door, many acceptances will open plenty of doors in the future!

I feel like rejection really just shows you tried and were seen! Someone saw your work and at least took the time to respond with the rejection (trust me, as an author who tried the traditional route, a rejection email was a good thing!). Shows you stepped up to the plate and tried, knowing there was a chance you'd fail!

Mixed feelings but good to come together. Rejection can be dangerously lonely.
