I had bonding done like 40 years ago , still works. One tooth only. Problem with bonding is that it looks "flat" when dry , but matches sheen of other teeth if has saliva on it. And over time needs to be buffed out to get best shade back.

My son tripped on a carpet mat and fell flat on his face fracturing his 2 front teeth 20 years ago. Both were broken just below the end of the nerves, so his dentist was able to build up and restore the teeth as good as if nothing happened. Aside from some minor discoloration over time, the bonding has held.
i naturally have chipped teeth and they don't look even and i was recommended to do this after taking off my braces to match my front teeth with each other. kind of scared but hopefully it works out.
Thanks for this detailed video . You mentioned that the phosphoric echant is caustic and can cause sensitivity. Is that sensitivity long term and does it also cause issues with the gums if the procedure has to involve a repair that starts at the gum like widening the tooth for ex ??? Thanks
My two front teeth are slightly chipped at the ends from grinding (working on correcting that with a mouth guard at night etc...). My dentist said that I would either need caps or veneers but I really just want to get them bonded. Would there be a reason she doesn’t want to go that route?
This is basically what my teeth look like. I had broken front teeth from 12-19 and have braces right now. They did bonding on the front teeth without informing me when I went in for fillings and at first I was upset as I never asked for it, but now I think it’s better than what I had. I want to get bonding on my top front 6 teeth and lower front 4 teeth since I have bad breakdown from drinking pop so much when I was a younger teen. I just want to help prevent more from breaking off. Before I wanted veneers or crowns but I really want to preserve as much natural tooth as possible. I just wasn’t sure because idk how each one holds up and lasts.

My orthodontist constantly always wants to file my (front) teeth, but I never let him because once I'm done with braces, I want the dentist to bond them and lengthen them to their original length....
I have a little chip in the middle of my two front teeth, I got it ‘fixed’ a week ago, but as I was brushing today it literally just fell off , I don’t brush aggressively and I’ve been babying them since getting it done! Is this due to it being done poorly? The piece she used was super small, would more coverage and a bigger surface area being covered with the bonding work better? Hi, if you read this I had a question. My two upper front teeth are really, really small and was told I couldn’t get crowns because the nerve was nearly exposed? I was wondering if bonding would be a better solution (my bottom teeth are starting to dig into the little piece of flesh between my upper teeth… lol)

I've had mine for a decade now. I have tooth bonding on my two front teeth because i chipped it when i was younger. Yes, it defo needs to be redone because they stain quite easily and turn yellow ..

I had a question, and since the dentist's offices around me are closed down due to the coronavirus outbreak, I thought i'd try to do some research on my own, and while a lot of my questions have been answered, I am still concerned about one thing. About two months ago, a new bonding was put in for my front tooth, and there is this clear plasticky film that is peeling off in the front of the tooth. It is still about a couple of millimeters above where the chip is, but it seems to be very gradually peeling down. Is this something that I can wait out for a couple of weeks until the dental offices re-open, or should I try to get it seen as an emergency procedure? thanks so much!

Good afternoon! I had a chipped tooth with bonding for years (worked great and blended in smoothly). I went for a cleaning one time and i guess the dentist tried cleaning that area extra because they put a line on my front tooth. Would it be possible to have bonding done ON the tooth to reduce the appearance of a line being there?
It really depends on what part of the tooth is chipped. If the back side is chipped than we have to add restorative material there to make the restoration work. Sometimes we don’t need to add bonding to the back! Hope that helps
I wanted my GP dentist to fix a bit of chipping in the front tooth. He refused because he wanted me to straighten them out with Ortho. I'm now almost done with my orthodontics treatment and I asked my Ortho to polish the chipped tooth in the front but he also refused. He also didn't recommend veneers and wants me to follow up with GP dentist to do composite bonding or something else. Do you have any idea why orthodontist doesn't want to contour teeth? They shave between teeth and many of my friends have had their Ortho contour the edges. Could it be that he is conservative in treatment? Is it damaging to shave or polish a tooth that is chipped to the tooth's anatomy?
I had this my front two teeth cracked so I’m sure they did this bonding, but I’d now like composite bonding after my Invisalign would I have to let the cosmetic dentist know this? And can he put composite bonding over the bonded cracked teeth or would he remove that bonding?

Had it done. Turned yellow within one year. Chipped within 1.5 years. Noticed teeth underneath bonding have also decayed. Worst decision ever. Now need all crowns. Wish I was better informed.
Hi, do you have experience with MIH? I thankfully only have it on my back teeth so you can‘t see it but my back teeth are brown because the enamel is hypomineralized. No one can tell me why this happened to my teeth. Could it have something to do with taking antibiotics as a baby?
Bella XYZ Thanks for the comment! Molar incisor hypomineralization can be associated with a variety of things that affects the ameloblasts during child development. Some have said that it is associated with fevers during early childhood and others have claimed that it is associated with issues during pregnancy... the main thing dentists think about with those that have MIH is prevention. This means regularly scheduled dental visits/cleanings & the application of fluoride. Any other questions!
Antibiotics is typically associated with something called tetracycline staining which is this very dark striped pattern on your front teeth which can be corrected with veneers or crowns later on in your life. Not sure if that’s what you have or the MIH. Cheers 🥂
San Diego Dentistry I got antibiotics after birth because i was a preemie and i had pneumonia but i don‘t have it on my front teeth, only on the molars. I think i would have to ask my dentist to find out, what exactly i have but he rarely tells me anything about it other than brush your teeth thoroughly. I just hope it‘s not my fault.😅
Natural teeth are typically going to be the most durable over any restorative material you put in your mouth but fillings are strong and can last a long time

Can this be done on a baby tooth. I never developed my adult/ permanent lateral incisor so my baby tooth is still there and it looks so small compared to my other teeth. Can it be bonded to make it look bigger and similar in size as my other teeth?
I had the EXACT same situation! Yes it can! But you just have to be aware that there is a good chance that you you won’t keep the baby tooth forever. I kept mine until i was 19 then finally they got really loose so i got them pulled and had dental implants.
If I’m replacing an existing composite I don’t need any modification and the putty will help preserve lingual architecture. If tooth is broken, I place putty and cut back with a diamond bur using adjacent tooth as a reference.
My front tooth were composite filling. It cracked, and repaired again; but within one or two weeks, it cracked again. Total 3 times cracked, 3 times repaired. This morning, it cracked again. I wonder whether this procedure could fix permanently at least last for months or a year before it cracked again? I doubt it.

Holy shit, chipped teeth binding is so bad. They say it doesn’t hurt, but I have experience. They put cold something, my guess air or water on the open tooth and nerve. It is so painful. I clench the chair I’m sitting on. Imagine open nerves with such a cold substance. I’ve always hated the dentist
I cannot find a dentist that will do this; I have been to many dentists and they all want and demand crowns,caps,bridges..everything that I cannot afford even with my good insurance ..as an adult I haven't been able to smile I'm years.
