War of Words erupted in Lok Sabha after BJP MP Tejasvi Surya took a snipe at Rahul Gandhi who was formerly a Member of Parliament from Wayanad and raised several allegations against the Congress Party. Senior Congress leader Mr. KC Venugopal in a fiery reply demanded an apology from the BJP MP.
Mr. Surya Said, “The landslides in Wayanad have taken the lives of 160 innocent people. Over the last five years, more than 350 people have died in landslides and other disasters in Kerala. Unbridled, unregulated commercial activity including quarrying and mining in the eco-sensitive areas of Western Ghats is the primary reason for this. Many reports were submitted earlier which were rejected successively by the UDF and LDF governments in Kerala in the last so many years. There has been no solution thought about regulation of the commercialisation of this eco-sensitive zone,”

Seen the comments below, the onus now should be on the rehabilitation works. Which the Army & NDRF are doing well. But still a lot needs to be done. And the parallelly the onus should also be on the prevention of such landslides in future in dangerous western ghats in monsoon season.
