Hell yeah! Tekken 3 was awesome. That was my first full Tekken. 1 ans 2 I got to play on a demo disc way back in the day. Lol. My father ended up trading with a friend of his for Tekken 3, and we played it all the time
Their budget took a big hit the last time around which is why everything looked dated and why we had artwork instead of cutscenes. While i would like to see another Soul Calibur, it just isn't a popular fighting game anymore.
@@wardog5537 I've played Soul Blade since the 90s. I've read about the development issues and the budget cuts. Compared to its rivals, Soul Calibur isn't as popular as it once was.
I haven't been this excited for Tekken since the legendary Tekken 3 back in '97. Watch some of those 1.5 hour lore breakdowns for the story. Very entertaining stuff
Been playing for like 7ish hours, I have to say this game has potential to become my favorite fighting game. The controls at first come off as clunky, but after labbing with yoshimitsu for a few hours I will say that it is so, so clean when you get all the timings down on your combos. Rounds can end in like 20 seconds in Tekken 8. It’s such a nice breath of fresh air after MK11 and Mk1’s defense centered gameplay. Not to mention the insane amount of content, tekken ball goes so hard. I love this game so far.
I played for 9 hours straight, I had to force myself to go eat! xD This game is unbelievable, gonna go play again in a bit after this small RU-vid break lol
Just got off a 7 hour sesh myself and for the same reason I need to eat lol yeah this is my favourite fighting game ever now it just hits different when you get in the flow 👏👏
Considering that mk1 is maybe dying (according to some sources I know) the fact that tekken 8 costs as much as mk1 and offers more single player content and is more of an aggressive game, tekken 8 is REALLY looking appealing to me
@@Remorsefullyhumble It's the first tripple a Tekken since 5. It looks gorgeous with the ue5, has lots of content and many characters you can choose to play with. You have to climb the ranks if you think heat mashers are annoying. It's not ight, it's the best fighting game that came out since years. 😂
I hear ya. I started with Tekken 3, and though that game was SO goddamn cool when it came out. It's been cool seeing it progress over the decades. Hwoarang 4 life.
played the first chapter last night. This is my first tekken game ever and man I was instantly blown away. the combat is insane. Way better than SF6 and MK1
You're going to hell for playing such a horribly violent game. This is a sin unlike any other. My entire family will be praying for our Lord to save your soul tonight. I hope you learn from your heathenistic ways and change your life. Bless you. You CAN be saved REMEMBER THIS!!
Back in the day, in the UK, I bought an import Japanese PS1 and new Sony Trinitron TV with SCART input in order to play the first Tekken game. Even when I cooled off gaming (about PS3 time) I still indulged in a bit of Tekken. I even got an eGPU so that I could occasionally play Tekken 7 on my laptops. And last year when I had something of a renewal of interest , and got a Steam Deck - the first game I got for it was Tekken 7.
The music in this game is so infectious. Like I haven't played a fighting game in a long time that had every stage delivering straight up BANGERS throughout.
Just finished the game story, some character episode and already it feels 9 out of 10 fellas totally worth it , it feels nostalgic also improved at same time
@@ObliqueVisualsNzthe story mode was fine it was the "secret" reveal combined with what apparently happen to jin and kaz that makes it crap (trying not to spoil for People that findes this before they finish the game) but you should know what i Mean 😅
@@DonYoGi8331i feel they just got lazy with mk1 i mean just look at how post launch content is being handled im happy other fighters are finally stepping up to the plate
Tekken 7 went wild with the crossovers: Akuma, Gesse, Noctis. I hope we get another Street Fighter character or maybe Tifa since FFVII Rebirth is around the corner
I have to say as a kid growing up in the 80s …me and the boys would always hit the arcades southside Pittsburgh and I would always run it as some TEKKEN… always hands down my fav fighting game. Never disappoints. Thanks for the memories then and as always now
Graphics and muscle definition is insane! Glad they went with this approach. Hoping they can finally also bring an updated new soul caliber with these same (updated graphics and definition)
soul calibur really needs some love. SC6 is a mess with wonky hitboxes, vertical tracking, walkable horizontals. this game doesnt respect it own rules. also the ce and powerup things are just annoying. hopefully the next will be a blast
I honestly think 32 fighters is an impressive selection and much more than this would just start to annoy me. Different characters would blend together in my brain and I'd have no chance of actually remembering match-ups. This is a good base and I'm sure they will add several seasons of characters on top, so we won't get bored. Tekken is certainly back.
Tekken 8 actually does simplify things, but in a smart way You can use single-command their extensions instead of memorizing long commands for chain throws, or if you do/did it in previous games - you can apply the harder input to squeeze extra damage Throw breaks are now shown in move list, basic throws are still easy to break since Tekken 7 Instant run input seems to be much easier Reina - one of the more/most complex characters in the series, has simplified inputs for wavedash, but keeps the true Mishima-style inputs and adds fancy electric sparks to her feet if you use the harder input This new special style can be toggled midfight, turning the controls more akin to spectacle-fighter games/brawlers with one button(can be chained with itself and others+directions) for attacks, one for juggles one for throws and do on The move list shows a lot more details about moves and previously hidden extensions/special inputs/extra descriptions etc. Frame data is there too, along with pretty good screen for move nuances Arcade Quest is basically a tutorial with shitty/cheesy story(the good stuff is in main story mode) Game is hard AF, more could be done, don't get me wrong, but it's a lot more beginner-friendly now
The only thing missing for me is those short replays after rounds, I get it if people find them annoying but it would be so cool to have them as an option in offline battles. Tekken 8 is a truly masterpiece, best fighting game in years
THIS is the kind of review I like and it's delivered by the right person (or bird). If you wanna share a review for a friend to know or get this game, this is the one.
Very reliable review; Objective, transparent and brief enough to inform all. Indeed, there is the online issue I got the game regardless. I was zafina main four years ago when I took a break from T7 so my initial thoughts was I was going to pick it up easily but sadly I literally noob and need weeks labbing before jumping to the online so I hope by that time it's fixed
Tekken 8 is my first Tekken, after having a gamers block for the past month or so, Tekken has brought me back to actually enjoying gaming. That brings me to ask you I’ve been trying to get into Hwoarang but honestly I just can’t really get to like the character or even be good with him at least, any tips?
@@eduardosalgado6378Hwoarang and Jin were my favorite in TK4. My first was TK3 though. PlayStation 2 era. I was around 6yrs old back then. The music in these games have always been extremely gorgeous. Always. Hwoarang back in Tk4 had this really cool military outfit. Ironically I’m an Army combat veteran now. Hopefully they bring that aesthetic back for him.
The addition of tekken ball immediately reminded me of the tekken 3 beat em up mode. I don't recall if it was actually good, but I really loved it as a kid
Got some very fond PS2 Tekken memories, when they implemented the side step into the gameplay some of the combo's were immensely satisfying to pull off 😊
Enjoying playing with my main, Reina. It is incredible playing Tekken 8. This is my big introduction to Tekken and it's a blast compared to MK1 and SF6.
The absolute craziest thing for me is you commenting on the rocket fish and I said a long time ago (tag tournament 2ish I’m 30) I said if they add a gun fish for Akuma or Panda (Hwoarang main) I’m running from this game. Yet here I am, running right back to it lol
I am a perpetual beginner. Tekken 3 was my first fighting game, and one of the first games I ever played. Since then I've gotten most of the Tekken games out of nostalgia more than anything else as I don't typically play much of any fighting game, but I get every Tekken and spend a few months with it before moving on. I enjoy them, but fighting games are generally not for me. Saying all of that, I am not an expert at all, however I have found Tekken 8 super easy to pick up compared to the others. Playing as the new character Reina, it was amazing to me how intuitive she is to play. Just a bit of button mashing, and a few looks at the move list and I was able to start stringing together combos and it made me feel like I was good at the game. I can see myself sticking with Tekken 8 much longer than the others. I may even get into online this time around. TLDR: BUY THIS FUCKIN GAME RIGHT NOW!
The easiest way to get good is to watch pro players play and then imitate the moves they do. It's much more fun than sitting in practice mode for hours, at least to me. That's how I picked up Marduk in Tekken 7 and got to gold ranks in a month. 😂
I honestly enjoy the "easy " control settings you can turn on and off. It makes the skill gap between friends who just want to have friendly comp, and lets you feel competent at the game without dumping hours into game play. Haven't mainlined many fighters but I enjoy goofing around in practice and the arcade/story is a challenge. I've been on the fence about buying sfvi for a while, but this was a no-sell for me. Plus I wanted to try out my new hitbox and aracde stick lol
I was hoping that the Arcade mode will have an intro and an ending for each character and hearing that it does and also has a proper story mode is why i'm going to buy it. Those are the main two things that i need. I love Tekken.
Ive always played tekken for the story and the inviduals endings and luv to get used to each players changes.....the last game in my opinion felt like an add on for me not a full fledge game and was fleshed out with "seasons" so glad that is behind us this game looks great and glad to hear there bk to what they do best
That's so weird, I was able to play Tekken online last night on PC, hope they fix the issue for other people this has the potential to pop off at EVO and everything
It was working for just over an hour on launch then had a network problem for a couple of hours I think around 3-4 hours after the online mode was working perfectly and has been since now
Already bought it day 1 game is amazing!! Story mode was pure flames that last battle between Jin & Kas was absolute hype and adrenaline🌋 online is brilliant & all the other modes and content too arcade battles , customization is the best we've had since Tekken 7 , blows MK & SF out the water and this is the first weekend of release...Tekken is here to stay!!!
I was a huge fan of Tekken 3. I haven't really touched the series since. I've been itching to suck at fighting games again and this one may help scratch it.
Same tekken 3 was the best. I played 4 but it was awful. Played the demo of this and it seemed easy. I'm not sure if it can be made difficult though. Maybe play the demo
@@stevec5034"Don't try anything new. Don't make new experiences. Reminisce on your past instead of having fun now. Sounds like the perfect recipe to become that old stale boomer who is stuck in the past and complains about anything new. You probably are already him. Also why would it ruin his experience ? I didn't like Tekken 4 but did playing it ruin my Tekken 3 experience ? Nope. Memories don't work that way. If you let something new "ruin your experience" you must get upset real easily.
@@Gatorade69 What you getting so irritated for mate? 😅 It's all good. From my experiences when I relive a remaster or new version of a childhood memory it has not once held up to it and has partially ruined the memory. I think yours is a fair perspective as well, good to get both sides.
PS I would recommend getting the demo as it sealed it for me. Sure it's probably a great game but for me personally it was best to keep it a memory, you might like it though 👌
So excited to go grab this and a second controller today. I didnt get to try out my favorite characters in the demo so im finally gonna get the chance.
Finished the story and having a lot of fun with it, I hope they add (unless I missed it) the mode where you fight in like beat-‘em-up stages against groups of enemies
I think it would be nice to have branching storylines that if done right unlock a tekken force segment for each character with some being harder to find than others
It’s hard because of the button input for combos. 1. It isn’t like smash bros where you press a button and the character immediately attacks. 2. In Tekken it’s more of a “programmed input” where you press ALL buttons in a combo and then watch the character do the combo. 3. If YOU DO NOT quickly press all the buttons in the combo, then you’ll get that single punch or single kick button reaction like in smash bros. It really is an action game under the guise of a fighter.
I have been gaming for over 30 years now😅 but i wish i could enjoy fighting games! But I can’t keep the combos in my head😅 my brain just blacks out when playing.. looks incredible! But i gave up ever getting good at these games. I hope everyone enjoys them!
I'm having fun just watching the pro scene since 2017, haven't played tekken since t3 and also retired gaming since 2016 from being a gamer a 3rd of my life. still having fun as an spectator 😂
Tekken 8 HAS actually simplified a lot of complex things, for example, commands. What used to be a Half Circle command is now probably the simple press of a few buttons
The nostalgia I feel for Tekken is up there with FFVII and Resi 1-CV. I remember the first time I played 1 on the psx it blew me away. This looks fantastic. Games are so bloody pricey these days though man and there's too much coming out rn.
haven't played since t3 and have called the game quits back in 2016, just fun watching tekken tournaments now. excited what good ass tekken we will have in this game
Some characters are missing in tekken 8 fir the first time I never thought Namco would remove characters from a tekken game like capcom is doing with their street fighter games instead of adding more characters their deleting more characters everyone should know Jin’s grand father is one of them I don’t like how Paul looks like in tekken 8
@@mallow2902please then tell me who was missing in tekken 7 after tekken 6 I don’t remember anyone missing all I remember is more fighters got added it’s fine removing characters from the story but in arcade mode or online that’s stupid I agree removing characters is the most dumbest thing namco is doing
@@mikekanner2156 just look at the character page on the Tekken wiki. Characters get added, removed, and re-added all the time in this series. Did you forget about Tekken 3 where nearly the entire old cast was swapped out for new characters?
@@mallow2902 well removing famous characters is a different level but removing characters that nobody really cares about were added from other games is not a surprise you didn’t expect Akuma to return back to tekken 8 he’s a capcom character not a namco fighter there was also a final fantasy character that was removed and a SNK fighter these are fine to be removed nobody’s complaining about characters that doesn’t belong to tekken were talking about characters that belongs in tekken one of them is Jin’s grandfather Hehachi removing him makes it look stupid
Are you kidding why would anyone want Eddy back? its not like he was the most unique coolest stylish character in all of tekken that anyone could pick up and play.
As someone who isn't big on online pvp fighting games. I am enjoying the story of the arcade quest mode. Unlocking ALL of the cosmetics in game i've seen is by completing challenges which is nice. There's an easy mode that helps do things like certain combos if you don't know the characters and want to enjoy the main storyline. Individual stories with each character too. Practice modes have really cool save states and ways to save replays of fights you can go back into.
Harada always goes in with the jokes and the outrageous things each character can look like and do. It's always better when something that doesn't make sense be the highlight of any character you choose.
i LOVED tekken #1 when in came out back in 90's i think (on ps1) me and my mates spent hours playing this and others, usually some time early in the morning after a club and everybody else has crashed out or gone home, that was when we got the ps1 out or the sega (mostly sonic), aaaahhh the good'ol days lol
@@InitialDL84 new moves? Dude you're killing me here. I can only get the game at the end of the month and I am even avoiding the demo so I can go in fresh. But new moves? Hot damn can it be January 30 already? Please. Like now.
0:45 they arn't complex. And im kinda tired of people perpetuating this nonsense. Its very easy to pick a character, learn a couple moves, and go into a match to play. They are complex as you want them to be. You wana just mash with friends there is nothing complex about that. You wana go online? not complex either considering you fight people around your skill. You wana learn more do it. its not complex, its an investment
Games is awesome:) takes some getting used to some differences in character moves, mainly rearranging of certain buttons for moves but every move is there in some way shape or form..
I'm actually surprised they launched the game with both cross-play and rollback together. Some fighting games launched either have only one or the other or add them post launch months after but not both. MK1 doesn't even have both and it's fairly new although there was news that it will add cross-play this year. I'm glad SF6 and Tekken8 launched with both of these. Hopefully this will become a sort of a standard for upcoming new fighting games.
My father was a cruel man, he used to beat me up and insult me, he used to tell me "you're weak, you'll never make it in life", he said "if you ever by some miracle made it in life i'll give you something you'll never dream of" .. i grew up and worked hard to better myself, i went to college and majored in software engineering, got my degree and started my own software company, bought a house and started a family. One day i hear the doorbell ring, i open the door and it's my father, i was shocked, "you made it son" he said, "now you are ready" .. i stood in there in silence, my father said with a smile on his face: "now i'm gonna give what i promised" i said in excitement "i've been waiting for this my whole life, what is it father?" he took a deep breath and said: "I'm gonna give you some straight up gameplay and my first impressions of the latest games releasing"
