This video is to help users enhance graphics quality in Tekken 8. People with low level PC can also use this video to improve framerates.
There are 3 parts to this video:
1- First part is to use unreal engine settings to do optimization according to your needs and for better and enhanced graphics and clarity.
2- Second part is to optimize your settings outside of UE5 like windows settings and using third party tools for better and enhanced visuals and framerates.
- Third part is for in-game best graphics setting about whether you should choose ultra graphics or optimized settings.

CANNOT FIND APPDATA FOLDER:
This is actually a hidden folder by default in windows. Just go to MY PC, then View tab, then check HIDDEN ITEMS. This method is for Win10 but if you are on Win11, just google it, as I presume it will be something similar.
BEFORE/AFTER SCREENSHOTS:
Note that the after screenshots has all UE5 settings applied to max values, has shadows and Anti Aliasing set to HIGH (not ULTRA) and has the 3 Reshade filters applied.

Awesome guide, man. The devs made some really weird decisions with regards to this games' graphics settings. You'd think with how light the game is on the GPU side they would have added these options in the game itself, especially things that really make a difference, like ambient occlusion, and things that can turn people off, like chromatic aberration. It looks way better with your settings. Thanks!

Dude, it's been 3 days since Tekken 8 is out and you already have this!! Amazing. I wish there was one for SF6, it's already 7~8 months since the game is out, and there is no post yet... Also, did someone use this vid for the most optmize settings? I wish I could see how the game looks with every config on low, but with the visual clarity

Awesome guide, I already limited the game in rivatuner and set my monitor refresh rate to 60hz but the game kept using too much gpu. Limiting the game from nv control panel worked, now the game runs well while gpu frequency sits at 780mhz and low temperature.

Thanks for the detailed guide! Question: I tried following your guide and it seems like now the blue spark effect on just frame attacks are gone completely from my game.. do you know which setting could have caused that? Also, my game seems to load considerably a lot more slowly at the start, black screens for quite a while until the splash screens show, then it's smooth once I reach the main menu.. any ideas? Lastly, is running the game on borderless that much different from running it full screen performance and smoothness wise? Thanks again!

for the sparks gone, that is because you must have added the 4 particles lines, which I already stated that reduces a lot of effects in game. The slow start is an odd one. That is just the game boot process. It should not have anything to do with anything in the guide. Make sure you are not using any background apps or a lot of apps connected/injected to the game like Reshade. Crashes only happens to me whenever I use the camera mod to do the 3D Model videos. The game seems to be a little sensitive to outside stuff. Also make sure your are not running that Tekken Overlay app along with the game. For the last option, I would recommend full screen. Full screen option in all games seems to be the go to option for gamers and in some rare games, full screen also gives better performance.

@@DanteKOGTekken thanks for the detailed response! It seems the slow start is because something was eating up my CPU previously. It’s hard for me to get used to full screen cause I often like to switch tabs to other apps like a web browser😅 but I’ll try and see if it makes a big difference!

Dang. Sh** runs so smooth I might have overcompensated a bit for my specs. Going to have to play around with my settings. Funny enough it looks like a slighty better version of Tekken 7. It's only with in game menus were the fps ever drops. Particularly character select. It might be something with preloading. As long as it doesn't effect my matches I'm fine. I was about to drop the game because I didn't really want to upgrade.

Hey! thanks so much for the guide. I had a QQ, For the particle effects section in the engine.ini is there a way i can make the effect lowered but not as low as with that setting. Originally i had it off and on some maps like the one with the volcano the effects are almost too much in the bg so i added the part to lower the effects and its much better, but i was wondering if there was an in-between since it does effect the rage arts as well right? Is there a way to only lower the bg effects and not the character and fighting ones?

I am sorry buddy. I don't know any in between values and the command is universal for all particles of UE5 games, so you cannot just select a specific part of a specific stage.

Hey, thanks for the instructions. The bloom effect in the character select screen really bothered me. So I just played with the "BloomQuality" line. 5 seems to be the default. If you set it to 0, the bloom effect is completely gone and the characters in the select screen look very good. In the matches, however, the lighting effects no longer look so good at 0. I took screenshots and compared all the settings. BloomQuality 2 is the sweet spot for me. Btw. I tested the new "TUP - Ultra Plus Mod" on the Nexus website. When I use your settings the game looks better than with this mod (+ the TUP mod takes more performance). Good job! I'm surprised that there aren't any tips for the Nvidia Control Panel yet to perhaps get a little more out of the game. So far there is nothing about it to be found on the internet.

Thanks. Glad you liked my settings better. The thing is, I have been doing these things since years on UE4 games, so I know what looks better to the eyes. The TUP mod added SSGI which is super heavy on the system. SSGI alone takes about 3 times the GPU power of the 5 Shadow lines in my settings. On top of that there are some other overblown stuff in there as well. The reason I created my guide was to support every kind of system and that is why I chose settings that looks good but are not very demanding.

First of all, thanks for this awesome guide, you took the time to explain everything in detail and i apreciate that! I noticed that in the "outdated" guide 2 weeks ago you used a command to disable film grain and vignette, but not in this one. Any reason in particular?

film grain and vignette not anymore in full release. motion blur and HDR has a toggle in game now in full release and disabling bloom glitches a lot of particles in game. That is why these 5 lines were removed.

Its OK. Happened to me once xD. What I did was just kept the preset file, deleted all other reshade files and reinstalled Reshade.😆

No. DLAA is only applied on Tekken 8 but the registry edit that the tool automatically does for you when you click YES on that message is global, so before playing other games, use the disable signature override file I mentioned to reset your Nvidia registry edit.

No that can only be disabled using mods, not UE engine tweaks.

To be honest all settings plays a part in this but you can try lowering BACKGROUND and EFFECTS quality.

So my Nvidia card is quite old, I have a GTX 1050 Ti which doesn't have DLSS. What should my ingame upscaling setting be? I'm trying to keep the fps as consistent as possible, it can run at 60 currently but occasionally would drop to 58.

if it occasionally drops to 58, that means you are at the very edge. Just use TSR and lower render scale from 100 to 90 if you have not already.

@@DanteKOGTekken TAAU is what I would recommend for @inzanity490 and for lower end GPUs then, if they are bothered by the ghosting. Whether it's there or not I haven't noticed any ghosting myself on catmull bicubic, though i also have it on 100 rendering scale (gtx 1660 super).

Is it required to limit your FPS to 60 if you enable fullscreen optimizations in Polaris? Trying to avoid adding any input delay, but want to optimize my game still. And do you know how much input delay it actually adds in frames?

The game is already locked to 60fps because of being a fighting game. If you have a Gsync or Freesyn monitor, then you dont need to enable vsync. If you dont have these monitors then vsync is your only option to remove screen tearing. As for input delay, I have no idea how much it adds but I do know that gameplay wise it is very smooth.

These are already at lowest values. You either apply those lines at is or dont. Then test out what the difference is without them. These lines may effect the blue sparks, remove them or dont effect them at all. It all depends on how the devs implemented them in the game.

search "gaming error initialize sequence error 1" on google. There are videos there to fix that error and the first one is literally about Tekken 8. Anyway, just to inform this looks like a Directx12 error and has got nothing to do with Reshade, but I could be wrong.

Always play at a tiny bit lower setting than at how much your GPU can play at full power. For example my card 3060 Ti can give me good results in 4K DLSS balanced, but I always play at 4K DLSS performance, which gives me that extra headroom for all the instances where my game could drop frames.

keep a backup of the config folder somewhere else. Then delete the config folder from original location. After that start the game and it will auto create new one for you depending on your setting.

Hey I Got a GeForce RTX 2080 Super Running Ryzen 7 And I believe i have 2 8gb sticks of ram in. I just followed the video but can there be any more tweaks besides just following what you did cause I’m not understanding if i should be running taau or dlss since I followed the dlaa instructions

If you have a 2080, try running in 4K DLSS performance on Ultra settings (shadow and anti aliasing on HIGH). Runs super smooth for me here on a 3060 Ti. If you still get frame drops, switch to 4K DLSS Ultra Performance.

Why did you have deleted the Bloom and Motion Blur lines in your Steam forum thread? Because this disabled the ungly blur in the character select screen for me.

That is because my first guide was for Demo version. The full version of the game already has motion blur option. As for Bloom, disabling that effects all particles in games because they act as light sources, like Kazuya's electricity, making them look all glitchy and very bad.

@@streamingben3021 I suggest leave bloom at default values. Too much bloom does not look good and without bloom all your particles in any animation looks very bad because they act as light sources

DLAA will overwrite any upscaler you apply. Also you cannot use DLAA with DLSS, like I said in the video

Thanks for the guide! The particle effects to low really helped my performance! However, whenever there's RA in the Ortiz Farm Stage (underground level) my frames just drop to 30. This must be a game issue in this stage? I have a 3060 running at 1440p..

Do you have vsync on? I always turn vsync off as it introduces input lag and it's redundant if you're using a frame rate limiter.

I don't think this is a Vsync issue as I always have it ON on a 3060 Ti....and I really like practicing in that stage. Never had any issue like this with Rage Arts.

Hi man, i really appreciate that u did this video for us, but I have a little problem here and i need ur help Specs: nvidia geforce rtx4060 gpu 12gen intel core i7 12650H 16gb ram My laptop run this game on 59FPS , but with very weird drops and lags, especially in the character menu screen. It can drop there to 30 or even to 15FPS, and after i go online with 59 again but with probability of dropping to 55-56. I noticed that sometimes it runs better then other times Even though i did everything u suggest in this video i don't see too much of a difference. If I tweak all the graphics to low it will drop the same as if i stick with ultra. is there a way to get out of this and have a smooth experience? Thank u.

The character select is just built in a way that howering over a character makes the game load the entire model, so fps drops over there is expected. The only suggestion for that I can give is to run the game from an SSD to reduce the loading times. As for online, that is also a Namco optimization problem. Also once again it depends on your internet and storage speeds as well. Many people are experiencing this issue. You are not alone, but there is nothing you can do about it for now.

Dude I tried all the settings multiple times and as my rig is gtx1650m and ryzen 3750h 8gb ram I could not get constant 60 is there something to upgrade I have everything in low with NIS and 40% resolution and 1080p I am even using potato stages mods but when I apply your settings the game do seem to run better but when I get into heat mode there is stuttering and around 6~8 fps loss for any move I perform during that mode (Using the 4cmds of particle reductions) and I have locked the game to 60fps too. Is there any fix and also I do not get any bump in fps after reducing my resolution to anything even the least good looking option.

Dont use very low percentage of resolution. It will make your game a lot CPU bound. Try 80% resolution with Catmul Bicubic upscaler. Be sure to install the game on SSD. Close all background stuff. Also apply this line in engine file, this will literally disable all shadows in game: r.ShadowQuality=0

Thanks. I will try. You can use the unreal engine part of the guide for other UE4/UE5 games as well. All you have to do is locate where that game stores the engine.ini file in your PC.

Patches only apply on game files that are in your steam library. They are never applied on config folders as those are different for every user because of the windows user name in file path.

quick question about reshade: after i did all the settings. how do i close it ingame? and do i need to open reshade every time i launch tekken? edit: ok i had to press escape xD on the other hand. i use a 3060 TI. can i use the graphic setting 2550x1440p instead of 1080p and what would be the optimal settings ingame?

If you use a 3060 ti, use ultra settings 4K and DLSS performance. Looks really good with constant 60fps all times, as I have 3060Ti as well. You dont need to open rehade every time. It is just a one time install and configure process. Also you can use the HOME key to bring and close reshade window anytime

Your upscaler selection will not matter. It will always be overwritten if you enable DLAA.

Can someone help me, my computer got fixed by geek squad awhile ago and my folders are all mixed up, i cannot find the engine file he is pointing out and when i type tekken 8 it just brings up the game. when i type local data it says the folders hasnt been touched since 2023

Read description on how to make hidden folders visible on windows 10. If you are on Win11, just google it. After that just go to the drive where your OS is installed then USERS>YOUR YOUR NAME> APPDATA>LOCAL> TEKKEN 8>SAVED>CONFIG>WINDOWS

@@aquavina4142 For RTX DLSS. For GTX and AMD use TSR or TAAU depending on which gives you better results. The results you have to find for yourselves, as that depends on hardware.

Not needed but it is recommended to redownload Reshade from official website and use it to download only the filters you need . This way you get the latest version of Reshade and get only the filters you want to apply. rather than mixed up files of different versions of Reshade and a plethora of filters to work with, which gets really confusing.

Tweaking visuals has always been a thing for UE games, even online. Tweaking gameplay is the things that gets you banned. As long as you dont tamper with in game files, you are fine

After trying out Rivatuner on my AMD 6800XT running Tekken, setting the FPS cap to 60 DID seem to help the frame stutters. Why does this work? Isn't the game capped to 60FPS anyway? Why does the external frame cap help? Also, should I keep this FPS cap on if I have a 144hz monitor with Freesync?

Never trust in-game vsync and frame limiters. They are mostly buggy or odd at some times. Always set things like vsync from GPU control panel and limiters as well. This applies to not just Tekken 8 but almost every game out there.

Hidden folders in windows by default. Open MY PC > VIEW tab > check HIDDEN ITEMS. This was for windows 10 btw , so if you have Win11, just google it.

thanks for the vid, very helpful! I'm running a GTX1080 + i7-6700K. I settled on 1920x1080 @ 60 scale with TAAU (everything low besides textures). I've noticed I drop more frames if I go too low on the resolution scale. do you think I should try raising it above 60% at these specs? my main goal is optimizing for performance, I want that buttery smooth framerate 😁

Your CPU and GPU are more than capable of playing this game. If you have at least 16GB RAM then you dont need to sacrifice any setting. You can easily play the game on ULTRA or at least HIGH setting with 100% rendering scale. You can search "GTX 1080 Tekken 8" on RU-vid. There are a lot of videos and all of them play at constant 60fps on ULTRA with GPU utilization ranging from 75% to 85%, so you still have GPU headroom after that. All that on 1080p of course.

Anti cheat mods only checks tampering with in game files that are in your steam library. They never check registry files or config files.

For now I dont know. Maybe changing the FOV will do it. I have to experiment on that. Anyway the camera distance is the same as Tekken 7, so I personally think it is OK.

The old HDR lines were only to enable HDR in game. The full version of the game already has that option, so I removed those lines

You can use Reshade for that. Decreasing contrast values decreases the black levels to some point. Also while installing Reshade, if you choose LEVELS PLUS filter, you can change its values to below zero for less black levels.

set both background quality and effects quality to minimum and see if it reaches constant 60fps. The work you way up in those 2 settings till you are right below the edge for your system.

only RTX model can run DLSS. GTX models are too old now, and yes your only option is to use TAAU and then set render scale till you get 60fps everywhere. Also Since you have a 1660 Ti which has a 6GB VRAM, dont set textures to ULTRA. Set them to HIGH. Good luck buddy

Temporal AA that EU5 uses. Keep note that your selection if AA wont matter if you are using DLSS or any other upscaler. AA only works with TSR.....why I never mentioned this in the video is because I recently came to know about it.

If you are using windows then type and enter this in MY PC at the top and you will go directly to the directory %localappdata%\TEKKEN 8\Saved\Config\Windows If by any chance you are using linux then you will find the folder inside your steam library folder: SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1778820/pfx/

Just add disabling of Depth of Field and Chromatic aberration engine.ini. In graphics settings textures, anti aliasing and Shadows to HIGH and everything else at ULTRA. Set upscaler TAAU and render scale to 90% at 1080p resolution. If game look a little blurry use Reshade or the sharpen line in engine.ini

I tried so many things bro...xD literally. if only i could fix the cpu going 99 every start of the match. maybe it has to do something with the reshadeing i have no clue...

Game already runs pretty well, though the problem I've seen from playing Tekken 8 Demo to the release is there's a memory leak for the release and it's ruining fun for me. It's always like that after playing around 15 to 30 mins, restarting the game temporarily fixes the problem. Funny because I have a friend that uses a 4070 ti and he gets 30 fps after playing some time, I have a 6700 XT. Hopefully they fix this quickly.

No offense but this seems like a rig or pc management problem as for me with just a 3060 Ti can play for unlimited times without any drops. I just played like 5 hours straight yesterday.

@@DanteKOGTekken Not a rig problem, and nowhere near that. Not everyone will have the same experience as the others. We just happened one of the many users to actually experience it (and we also benchmark games a lot we know if it's a memory leak or not). It was fixed on patch v1.01.04 shortly after a couple of days experiencing it. It seems to play well now. However I've had many reports of some users still having the issue. Great video though!

Yeah agreed. On top of that one setting in game, most of time is a package of settings like post process and background....but then it is like this in every UE game, so I dont blame the devs here

I removed the HDR lines because the full build of the game has HDR toggle option available. Demo did not have it.
