Guys, please take this seriously. The game is forcing you to be aggressive meaning that you are forced to maintain constantly high levels of adrenaline which, depending on how long you are playing for, can actually be detrimental to your health. Take the breaks you need and remember that a game is meant to be fun. The moment it stops being fun is the moment you should stop playing.
Whenever I feel my tilt meter rising rapidly I take a break from ranked immediately lol Sometimes my ego doesn’t get this but usually this is the gameplan
It’s so annoying seeing people at high ranks only rely on offense. Some people literally play this game with no intentions on playing defense but they are rewarded because of how broken offense is in this game.
I completely agree. Block breaking, chip damage, homing throws, heat engaging moves with armor, and doing one good combo usually takes half a health bar from one good read. I understand they want matches to be faster for tournament audiences but let’s be honest. Most rounds are one sided. There’s no balance. And yes blocking was hard enough because players have to learn basic defense and learn how to counter or block strings from multiple characters. Now it’s like there’s a whole nother layer on top of everything that crushes you for blocking. It’s like why even bother blocking just mash a quick launcher I guess. And pray you get a comeback. I think they should increase player health bars and stop making so many moves plus on block. And remove guard breaks.
Just straight up bad. Victors doing explosion for free and dodging everything in the game just to clean half a bar on block? They can duck my d! Are they crazy? One of the most amazing things in the whole fgc is the gaslighting… they’ll say “oh it’s fair you just have to sidestep and EWGF within 4 frames of speed whole I go brrrr and mix in counters that absolutely demolish you”
1000% agree all I see is the mash mash mash characters and man do they go to town on them buttons I just go make a coffee while stun locked in string lol
Bruh I said the exact same thing after release… I’m there stealing rounds off solid players just by making the rage drive hit Really cheap pressure, free mixups, the anime run is so annoying What’s worst of all Is that I hate that you’re officially not allowed to dislike 8. Someone runs in like a replacement reff in WWE and starts telling you how the obvious scrub mechanics are supposed to be respected and that they aren’t scrub mechanics cos you can defend against them… like all mechanics…
IMO the biggest part of what makes a fighting game fun is the feeling of improvement; that feeling of successfully applying a punish you labbed out in practice mode, or adapting to an opponent that's been kicking your ass in real time. Tekken 8 just doesn't seem to give you those moments anymore. Like you said, it's like you're being trapped and suffocated with no way out. Did you finally figure out the counterplay (if there even is counterplay) and get the download on the dude beating you? Have you found an opponent that's fun to play against and also helps you learn a matchup? Too bad, online matches are BO3 now so you just gotta take the L. With the aggressive nature of this game, it feels like it's either steamroll or be steamrolled. Rounds last 30 seconds at most cause of how crazy the damage is, and with BO3 sets being your only option you barely get to process what happened in any given match. It's almost like online battles are just determined on who has the better offensive flowchart and mixups. All this paired with the greedy business strategies, piss poor balancing, and next to no punishment for cheaters and pluggers on Namco's part are enough to have made me quit the game. I'll still play every now and then but I'm nowhere near as excited to as I was on release. I'm basically only playing enough to keep me from getting too rusty, hoping for the off chance that Namco can somehow turn around and make this the best fighting game like it had the potential to be.
I still have hope. Game hasn’t even been out for a year. They can always turn things around. Granted I’m four days in, but I hope they listen to the community so that the majority can have a good experience.
I'm telling you all these Tekken Emperors wouldn't have made it past Fujin in Tekken 7! And it's funny because I win more games when I stop playing Tekken and just mash my heart out 😂 dw tho Niko ik none of them would take a game from you offline 💪💪 Godspeed
The devs clearly aren't used to NOT having an arcade release. The more I play, feels like I paid full price for an open beta, that has a shop and battle pass for some reason.
@@NikosWorld123 100%. Before adding a battle pass, they should've fixed stuff in basegame customisation, e.g. giving gloves their own section and separating the whole dumbass "entire body" outfits. Specific to Lars is his default 1 (inner shirt, lights) and default 2 (leg metal details) missing colour changing options, and his stance fx not matching his hit effects if you change their colour too. Might seem minor, but it's just sloppy from the devs imo. As for actual battle pass rewards, I MIGHT be interested in new intro/win poses, alternative rage arts, hell even profile art bc I don't like any of Lars' ones lol. Not a textureless Tekken Ball 😑
@@DOGEELLL Yeah it’s definitely played out. Its only purpose is literally cash, and to be honest it’s not doing a good job making cash either. They put 0 effort into the battlepass, expecting people to drop $10 on tekken to get a god damn sphere.
I don’t understand why guardbreaks are in Tekken and that’s coming from a guy that’s new to the series… it certainly doesn’t belong, but PC heat engagers should be very unique to particular characters… Azucena has no problem applying tons of pressure, why tf would she need an armored Heat engager? Raven on the other hand has to work for just about everything I get why he has one… I’d like them to take this stuff character by character because blanket changes will just massively hurt balancing even more
Now, i agree with everything that you've said so far, but if this is the mashiest, most aggressive fighting game that you've played, then I'm guessing you mostly stick to the big 3(MK, SF, and Tekken) which is not a bad thing, but i just wanted to say
Hey Niko wanna say we ran into eachother a few times in ranked Bryan vs your Jin gg! I agree 100% with you another issue I have is there’s no character identity anymore like it used to be every character has the same gameplan now and just 50/50 someone to death. They removed character weaknesses and it’s becoming repetitive and boring imo
Agree with you brother imma defensive player but I can appreciate aggressive characters in a fighting game. What I can’t understand (granted I come from sf, tekken I just got into) is that why does everyone to me seem to have the same gameplan and it evolves around ok let’s see who gets into heat and goes into a 50/50. I don’t mind characters having a 50/50 but is that just the norm for everyone ? Idk man I couldn’t understand this game I play sf6 more anyways, but this game is hella mashy I thought sf6 with drive rush was crazy this is like a whole other level for me. I like characters to have variety and it seems that a lot of fighting games these days are pushing this. Old sf games had the zoner, the rush down, the grappler etc. I know tekken is different then sf, but I liked seeing a lot of character archetypes with weaknesses for each archtype and making them unique.
Shaheen is one of my mains and I can’t stand guard breaks. I don’t really abuse his. I don’t think his is abusable anyway but I don’t like that they exist in general
Problem is that I don’t really think they are gonna make the changes that we want for sometime this game needs a full overhaul and who knows how long that would take or if they would even do that in the first place lol
I feel you, too many characters with too many plus frames moves that they can do after each one and also thanks for all the Lars tutorials, I am getting better bc of you thanks man!
Spot on, I'm actually back in tekken 7 myself and it feels better. The game is stupid right now, I'm hoping for major balancing patches, I'm not a fan of the heat system AT ALL
100% agreed bro! Don't know if you remember, but last week I was hype to mention I got Flame Ruler with Lars, and wanted to get Fujin. Unfortunately I'm here to tell ya I got demoted back to MR 😅 The aggression in my opponents immediately intensified once I got higher in ranks, and even when I'm just trying to play honest and figure out the time to punish against my juggernaut opponent insane offense, I GET PUNISHED HARDER FOR PRACTICING DEFENSE! Like i understand most of it is my skill issue and I need more labbing, but when the game forces this much aggression, why even have block anymore? 🤷♂️ You get punished for defending anyways. Low parrys barely even worth doing too, since the damage will be so miniscule from it anyways.
All good bro I got demoted to tekken God like 3 times. Just take breaks and try to learn. I wish defense didn't feel so horrible but we'll see what happens with time
Idk. Im pretty fine right now with how Tekken is. But that might be the smash in me talking. I haven't really gotten rid of the mashy side of me, albeit, I've definitely toned down how much I mash right now.
Unironically coming from fighterz Tekken 8 feels like a defensive heaven that being said I feel the burnout if I wanted to feel like I was playing fighterz I’d play fighterz……….😂😂
My one counter to this, is I think part of the exhaust from playing T8 is a conditioning thing. Obviously it's a much more aggressive game than previous entries, but as someone who primarily plays "anime fighters" or feels pretty tame, lol. It took me awhile to understand what people were complaining about, cause in games like Guilty Gear, Blazblue, or even Skullgirls and DBFZ, offense is absolutely insane. The exhaustion is real tho. But its something that does go away when you get used to the pace! SF6 has similar complaints and a year later, everyone has just about adaptd to the more aggressive approach. I'm confident T8 players will too.
I definitely agree about the skill gap. I play with cousins and a few friends. And i know I'm better than them. But when they pick certain characters... it's just ridiculous the amount of damage they can do. And i like to think that my defense is decent. But damn, some of these moves, and all button mashed. No skill involved. It is what it is. I guess i need to tighten my defense up, and improve the counter hit/punish moves. But it's still annoying tho.😂
To me only certain characters need to get toned down like feng Wei, Jun, dragunov etc they should get rid of homing grabs bcuz it don’t make sense that u can’t sidestep grabs in a 3D fighter, guard breaks I really don’t mind cuz otherwise you’ll be sitting there blocking all day you got power crushes, parries were buffed, side stepping is buff, can still jump off the walls while backed into em, evasive moves like blocking isn’t terrible it’s just that they want you to use other mechanics to steal back your turn like if you look at T7 the amount of mechanics that were pretty pointless bcuz blocking was so good is pretty insane u didn’t see many ppl using rage art bcuz rage drive was just way better, it was very frame reliant so ppl used far less different moves and stuck mainly to the bread and butter stuff, parries were used a lot more sparingly and so it became very poke and whiff punish heavy cuz why try anything risky when you got nothing to fear much if you can block everything and just don’t have to be reckless to not get hit
Offense used to come from plus frame moves. The slower the move the better the + frames (back in the day) or the + frame move would have obvious openings. Jabs give +7 on hit a good plus frame move is 18 to 20 frames and 0 to +5 on block. You can still jab interrupt the + frame move if their jabs connect. That was like the only way to be extra aggressive. Paul can do f1+2 a couple times in a row into a d1. In the Tekken world that is aggressive. This madness in Tekken 8 is aggressive on crack There was and will always be more risk in being aggressive. That is how fighting working. More advantage in being defensive but at a much slower pace. Even in sports, in fighting In any thing competitive, there are risk in being aggressive, and advantages being defensive. In Tekken 8 no risk in being offensive and only risk is being defensive. That's backwards
I will say that while I love the game, it is more frustrating than it should be. Knowing that there’s a balance patch on the horizon but having to deal with things the way they are is pretty annoying for me, especially with how many things are out of control (Dragunov, Eddy, etc.) As for Tekken 8 vs. 7, I do feel like I lose to worse players more often in this game than I did in 7. My friends tell me I’m thinking too hard when I play ranked, I think there’s some truth to that. The game tends to reward people for just pressing at all times
I agree100% I played Tekken 7 over 5 seasons! It's hard for me to even think I can make it through 1 season of Tekken 8.. Its also kinda discouraging too cause all I see in rank are top tier broken characters like azucena drag Feng Victor.. overall just Namco removed the execution barrier what made Tekken fun
I doubt they will change anything to help with the feeling of burn out lol(as i feel the burn out too) they are not gonna remove heat or find ways to make ppl use it less aggressively, and probs same for guard break
Oh yea, most definitely. I don't think they'll change anything I stated in the video. I'm still gonna address it tho ykno. Bring about discussions about it. 👍
@paradoxical1830 that's a useless statement. They lowered the skill ceiling in this game by alot even knee isn't really liking this game. An he is VERY good
I agree with you completely. The cheese, plus frames into plus frames, homing grabs, guard breaks. Guarding is our only way to hold on to life, and you gonna take that away?! Fought a TK Viktor who has no business being anywhere near TK (whooped him) nevertheless the skill level is questionable at best. Just hold on till that may update. I need you man! You inspire me!
It's like Maximilian Dood said, every fighting game you play at launch, is going to be the worst version of that game till they implement a reliable support path to ensure a games balance and longevity.
I peak mentally after about 5hrs it used to be 2-3hrs when I started playing but yea I get a legit headache and even I try to keep playing I just can’t mentally lock in it’s like im trying to beat my best mileage on cardio! It’s a legit workout.. when you go on ranked it’s 10x more draining since ur playing for points so you can’t really lab in quick play for awhile you HAVE to spend your prime on ranked if ur gonna use ur stamina on the game wisely.. no one is talking about this
Agreed, guard breaks are total BS. I could forgive it if every character could do it at least but that's not the case. The aggression overall is just nuts, and I'm a person who loves pressing buttons. I jumped back into T7 the other day and while it may be simpler, you get more scope to craft an individual playstyle. Every high level Jin, Hwoarang and Feng in T8 look and play the same to me while in T7 the range of defence made it so you had to adjust to the player more than the character.
@@clippsz Lol, Tekken 8 gives me a guilty gear vibe, which is fine for me. I like aggressive playstyles and it's crazy that Tekken has this sort of gameplay. But, I'm having fun. We'll see what changes in the future.
It's very overwhelming and you get exhausted quickly. I won twice against a Jack-8 but after that, I just closed the game. I wasn't happy. If you see this replay against the Jack-8, I block as if my life depended on it, it's horrible to watch. When I saw the new characters of Tekken 8, I knew this game was going to be mashing galore. This game is actually on stereoid. When I see Arslan Ash saying that he's adapting and that "Tekken 8 becomes fun when you play the way the game wants you to play", I'm sorry, but for me it's just coping. Hopefully season 2 of this game fixes a lot of things because this game will def not change this year. (i don't think it will personally) EVO takes place this week, and frankly I'm curious to see how Tekken 8's fights will turn out, and what's more, they're planning to buff most of the characters after EVO to "exploit their uniqueness", at which point they might as well make a game where a single punch knocks out the opponent. Let's not forget that the original plan was to use two Heat gauges. It's very telling. Don't even get me started on the raking system, which is completely horrible.
I knew this was going to happen before the game released. But often times early criticism is looked down upon by some die hard fans that green light every decision devs make. Which is silly but understandable.
I do not mind execution barriers being lower, (my execution has always sucked) But the one button plus frames into huge damage, or more plus frames when blocked, giving them another free mix up is just absolute insanity. Guard breaks, I'm with you on that, don't like chip damage either. Homing grabs. -15 instead of -22 rage arts that also recover faster on whiff. Also as a Claudio main they shafted me up the arse in this game, you never need to block low outside of heat vs Claudio. Wouldn't mind my awful d22 launcher back, if only to give a decent opponent a reason to duck more often.
I am in agreement with what you say about defense already being hard in general in the game of Tekken. Each character already has a million moves. You know what the ironic thing about that is though? Players only use like 5 moves because nobody has the imagination anymore to learn how to use other tools. On top of that, they want us to be more mashy, and with them advocating for more aggressiveness with the system mechanics, it's basically senseless to even hold back anymore or else you ain't playing 😂 so now, because aggressiveness is the new way, people have found the formula which is essentially to be as mashy as possible, but now it's too much....well when having good d was a thing, people made up such a thing as being too defensive and it was boring....namco seemed to have swung too far in the other direction. Just some observations from all my years of playing. Anyway, I do think they need to at the very least tone down the overall aggression under what it currently is in order to be closer to where I think we all want it.
I feel ya it does get mentally draining if you play long sessions. Take as long of a break as you need. Usually i hop on other games like Valorant, Halo, or UNI2 when im taking a break. Granted there might be better game options for other people lol but it does help with getting that slump off and resetting your nuetral mindset for T8
I feel you bruh they took the skill out of it now it’s all about glitches and spaying crazy fame pluses like it’s nothing to get a perfect now you can’t really hit the faster characters back and don’t get me started on the spring up kick and wake up kicks you can’t even punish no more wtf
Only things I miss from tekken 7 are ganryu and the death matches. I don’t miss the garbage movement in t7. But I do agree tho. Guard breaks, chip damage, power crush heat engagers are freaking retarded & they gotta go. Even tho I genuinely love this game. My biggest problem with it is I absolutely despise when I make good defensive decisions don’t get rewarded. Man that grinds my gears. Hopefully they can fix a lot of the mess in some balances changes
guard breaks are my only gripe with the game tbh. I play Raven and it's refreshing to be more offensive, coming from a more defensive oriented style of play with Master Raven in T7. but I understand, heat allows everyone to change the tide of the battle, kind of reminds me when ppl were upset about Rage Drive in T7. It'll be ironed out in patches, hopefully. tbh, this game feels like TTT2. it was fun in the beginning and then folks got upset of thing went. throws were ridiculous and so was the damage. but yea man, take a break.
To be honest I didn't enjoy Tekken 8 at all because of all of the reasons you mentioned. The last time I played it was about 15 minutes when they released Eddy lol
i played god of destruction who his whole game play is based on defense so its just know the match up and frames but this game is more stressful then Tekken 7 i take breaks from rank and go play people in the lounge that where the genuine player are in rank and quick play people spam the same moves just to get the win nobody tries to do combos fr
My friend hates both. They hated in T7 when Leroy was broken, the dlc with paid to win Kuni, Noctis, and Lei, how macro cheaters and boosters were rampant, characters banned, and ranking. They hate T8 for macro cheaters and boosters, the pass, pluggers, and macro cheaters and boosters. They said the last game they had fun was T5.
Character balancing is inevitable. That’s what the may patch will consist of. But in game mechanics(heat, guard break) adjustment won’t come till a later date I fear. That might be a season 2 thing since the devs want to realize their “aggressive” vision for this tekken. SF6 has broken mechanics that people been crying about since launch but they didn’t update their game at all because they want to see it play out. Tekken might do the same
Sure, but the thing is that with SF6 (imo at least), the roster is fairly balanced, with two exceptions (Ken and Luke). Like, with SF6, they really only need to tweak a few characters and make an adjustment to a couple drive mechanics, and I'd be fine with it. With Tekken, there's just a lot more things I see that can be fixed. That being said, I'm having fun with both games really.
I actually woul rather go back to Tekken 7 with Lars if the May patch doesn't do anything. However, I think the vet community would do best with just turning off crossplay on their pcs and playing without Heat Smashes.
While the whining and complaining is becoming exhausting in the community, some of the complaints are valid. Game is too offensive, chip damage gotta go, heat needs to be tuned down and the broken matchmaking needs to be fixed. BUT, one thing for sure.... ain't NOBODY missing Tekken 7 lmao. Some of y'all need to take a break lol.
I’m only gonna leave this comment cause I watched the whole video…an respectfully. What I’m getting from it, is you hate aggression. Cool but you’ve benefited from it. On top of that the game is still centered around frames an knowledge. So learning a matchup will still give you an advantage. Like I get it’s easy to bash the game the discourse is there so others will follow suit. You’ll get the views an engagement. Still T8 is solid…every character is strong, an it’s fun. Every day it’s the same complaints. As if you want it to be perfect at Launch. While it’s a good daydream nothing is perfect at launch neither was T7 or any iteration…even if it’s not good by may…it’ll get there. An the thing is…you can play a non mashy version of your character. You can sit there and learn match ups…go to lans and surround yourself with like minded players. Like arslan Ash. It’s draining to see this every other day …..
I respect your opinion. I never claimed I hate aggression. I just think offense is overtuned. I dont agree with a mechanic that breaks your guard for garunteed damage unless ypur bryan or something cause that's locked behind execution. Learning a match-up will help sure but I do believe the offense could be turned down. If you disagree, that's fine. That's why I asked for opinions in the end. I wanted to know what people think. Also you say it's draining to see this but you saw the title 🤷♂️
@@NikosWorld123 You’re right I Did see the title, an you’re not wrong Bryan is a great case of guard break being implemented right. Still other than maybe Jack, since he can just heat smash after…I think most the characters that were given it, are locked behind execution to utilize it to its full potential. Like a Bryan or Steve even shaheen. Am I don’t think you necessarily hate aggression but it’s what spawns from your individual opinion, without saying you can counter etc in a matchup. Just makes a lot of other people not try as hard or give up on the game. Cause you or xyz said this, it must be true…or they might just mash or not learn a match up cause they think it’s mashy. I appreciate you responding too btw and im sorry if I come across as attacking you, it’s not even you it’s what spawns from this. An im no where yet as good or optimal as you. An I’m just responding from my experiences n how I see friends who’ve played a dropped the game…or ones who don’t own n have a similar sentiment.
I disagree with you I don’t feel like there’s anything wrong with the blocking. Tekken 7 blocking is the same, it’s just slower so it’s easier to see the moves coming. Now don’t get me wrong the game is not perfect it does have a few balance problems but I would never go back to Tekken 7.
I think people are complaining too much. Just adapt. I love how difficult the game is. If it was too easy and simple people would lose interest in the game real quick. Hit the training room and learn the match ups.
@@NikosWorld123 this ain't t7 my boy and the way i look at is that we all have access to these mechanics in the game. It shouldn't be no reason for anyone to be complaining right now unless the game was just unplayable. Problem is everybody wants to be good but don't wanna put the work in to be good. Can't become a pro at the game overnight. All this complaining in my opinion is going to eventually ruin the game. It's gonna turn people away. Especially anybody that's interested in trying it. Just adapt.
@@djbrownie8732 did you listen to a word he said bro? Adapting has nothing to do with the aggressive pace of the game. "adapting" isnt going to change that. wtf are you talking about being good or whatever. Nothing to do with the points he was making. smdh. I fucking hate people.
@@djbrownie8732you sound really pretentious , these are valid complaints. Offense is WAYY too much and your telling us to adapt while actively being punished for playing defense makes no sense what’s so ever
Bring back the old Tekken, remove rage arts, remove power crushes. If you want your turn back actually fucking work for your turn, parry me or something. T8 is just a frustrating mess right now, everybody online is either just spamming launchers at range 3 and hoping you'll walk into it or heat engaging power crushes. Every loss on T8 feels awful, so much so that when I loose I just cringe because 9/10 it doesn't feel like I deserved to loose or that my opponent deserved to win. Likewise when I win, it hardly even feels like I deserved it. And then you loose to the launcher spamming SAFE HEAT ENGAGER POWECRUSH Spammer and you go and check their defence stat, and low and behold it's at like a 60 or something, like get out of my game with that shit.
Yup, this game is losing it's fun man. You don't know how to play this game because the game has 0 logic with Heat being too inclusive and making certain characters be too safe. P.S. They need to remove powercrush honestly. It's rediculous that someone can be negative and can just spam it out
I think you need to play more fighting games for scope on what is mashy - you listed Mortal Kombat, Tekken and Street Fighter - you haven’t seen enough, straight up. You are entitled to your opinion, I think the game is fun
That's a fallacy. The dude is already Tekken God and probably plays at a high skill level at other fighting games.T8 objectively has more 50/50s, Heat can do very stupid things, grabs track both sides, armored moves startup quicker, chip damage punishes you for defending and there are more strings that jail you. Heat makes the game super volatile and heat burst comes out at 10 frames while rarely being punishable on block.
Honestly, it was kinda revisionist history when they said tekken was too boring look at those finals reactions people watch for bated breath every time popping off like the winner won the Super Bowl and tastly Steve saying "Tekken always delivers" to a chess match that even non-tekken players watched and liked. This is why it still selling 11 million going into 12 as we speak. Now that we headed into Tekken 8 now all of a sudden it's boring.... this is so cap I have no idea where this notion came from at all....
@@perfectkaiser2489 idk about you but i watch fighting games to see people fight, not choose an infinite map and korean backdash the whole time. At least in other games there's zoners who shoot projectiles for the opponent to interact with, but with Tekken 7 its just movement and i dont care for that
When almost every character has 5 ways to break the game's own mechanics during each match, you end up with NO FOUNDATION on which to DEVELOP ANY SKILL. This also means no more true competition-there is NO SKILL IN GUESSING. People that win competitions will only be able to do so WITH LUCK. LUCK IS NOT SKILL. Nikos, you ARE RIGHT AS WELL. Chip damage VIOLATES THE FRAME MECHANIC IN TEKKEN. You should not be punished for blocking and going for a SIMPLE PUNISH. This is the FOUNDATION OF TEKKEN-BLOCKING AND PUNISHING. All this to try to simp to scrubs and casuals. The real problem centers around CROSSPLAY. THEY WANTED TO MIX TWO OPPOSITE COMMUNITIES, WITH OPPOSING GOALS TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND ALL THIS GAME BREAKING CRAP WAS CREATED TO CARRY THE SCRUBS THAT ARE NOW MIXING WITH VETS BECAUSE OF CROSSPLAY. People need to TURN OFF CROSSPLAY, AND RESTORE THE TWO COMMUNITY SYSTEM WE USED TO HAVE IN ALL PREVIOUS GAMES, UNTIL NAMCO FIXES THIS SHIT.
Your point was spot on until the last bit. Crossplay has nothing to do with anything lol. Its there to have a larger matchmaking pool. The REAL problem is that matchmaking is fucking BROKEN.
