@@azuredream9032just because a character has high damage doesn’t mean they don’t struggle significantly, take kuma for example. He has the highest damage in the game but is still a low tier character.

Paul has mediocre poking in a game where poking is accentual, he’s a single hit character with no gimmicky strings in a game that is hyper aggressive. He relies on simply out timing you at legacy tekken.

honestly, im glad they're buffing defensive options. 5 months into the game, they realised the game was way too aggressive, toning down aggression and increasing defensive play is a good move by them. Now they just gotta fix string tracking on sidewalk and sidesteps and im happy with the game

not to mention a little bit less plus on block from heat and less chip damage is just icing on the cake if they nerf that.

Paul absolutely needs buffs - He is super strong up to a certain point from beginner to early blue ranks against players who don’t know the match - But in the upper intermediate and high level he really struggles to open people up with his sub par poking.

Exactly paul is a legacy esc tekken 7 character that relies on single hits with no gimmicky strings who requires timing to out play your opponent at core tekken which is difficult to do in a game that’s hyper aggressive and doesn’t reward defensive play enough as it should

⁠@@GtekiPSso basically you want him to be another 50/50 rush down character… 🤦‍♂️ They literally said they want to adjust characters to emphasise their unique playstyles, just like how they nerfed Azucena’s pokes and WR32 to get people to use more of her stances. Giving Paul a buffed poke game takes away from his playstyle, which as you said is defensive and requires good timing. Paul doesn’t need to brought up to where the S-tiers are, they need to come down to his level.

Seeing as how they nerfed Azucena’s poke game to emphasise her stance game, Paul doesn’t need his poking buffed. That literally changes how people would play the character. His playstyle is defensive, and yes Tekken 8 still needs characters who aren’t rushing down 50/50s all day. Does that make him more difficult at higher levels? Sure. But making him play like everyone else is not the solution.

I hope pauls buffs arent too crazy cause hes so solid in this game, imo hes like high A tier. I think the struggle comes from how he requires some good defense to really show off his strength so hes harder than some other characters.

Considering this is the large scale adjustment and their note talks about making 3D stronger, I am confident this patch will remove tracking from throws.

Kaz needs a rather decent amount of either offensive buffs or movement buffs. Paul needs a little bit of help but he's well balanced IMO. The real issue is the S tiers get away with murder functioning as boss characters with no drawbacks. Kaz? Severe tracking drawback. Paul? Severe lack of low threat at range. Feng? No drawbacks.

Kaz buff is definitely justified, check his online winrate seems to be dead last. And tournament presence/performance is poor too. They just should be careful to not over buff

If you don't see a single Paul, Kaz or DJ in most tournaments top24 or even top96 you know these characters are trash 🗑️ and should get buffs.

@@moneyarr I'm not saying make everyone broken. Kazuya needs some fixes with hitboxes(jab, df1) and possibly should do more damage when you have god-like execution. I would prefer to nerf the top 15 instead, but Namco is not going to do that.

Justice for Paul. Did you guys even paid attention how much damage most of the characters do? Paul has NO gimmicks, 55528 strings or a good 50/50. Demo man? Needs to be point blank otherwise even if the first one hit the second hit can be blocked and punished. Lack of poking and struggles vs agressive gimmicks which is this game is all about. If you block, you're mostly dead because of the retarded chip damage. You guys crying because he has a deathfist that really hurts and thats it.

Also something to note is that this will be the last "large scale adjustment" so there's a chance they'll do smaller adjustments like we saw in February and March. Even if they don't, letting the game breathe and settle for some time will definitely help

Hopefully, the buffs Paul and Kaz get will be ones that don't really mean anything. I like that they're being flexible with their roadmap, instead of "patch X is going to just be buffs because that's what we said two months ago". I think it's important to remember we could've been SF6 and had to wait a year before we got meaningful balance patches.
