Insta replay will definitely get me to watch my mistakes a bit more after a match. Going out of my way to do it is a bit too much work imo. I usually record small clips and see how I can improve from there
Not gonna lie, I’m pretty happy with the changes. My favorite is that you can go directly to the Replays after a fight. And Namco promised the ranked matchmaking will be better. They even acknowledging the fact that the ranking system needed some tweaking makes me have more faith in them. And putting your own character on the main menu is sick. Plus all the great changes in the practice mode. Now if they only could nerf Dragunov I’ll be forever greatful. Good job, Namco! 👍
T8 was the first FG that I not only got in on directly at launch but also followed the development of. It's been quite a ride so far and I'm actually excited to see where things go next.
"Fixing everything" is kinda a commercial statement, as I personally don't see those additions as fixes, it is just new features mostly, except ranking changes. Tekken 8 mechanically is still a casino and cutscene show, the fact that they introduced quality of life changes, the product itself remains untouched. It is magnificent to watch that for cooling down community frustration, devs give people menus, glasses and huge fist and it works great: content creators consider this like a "fixing everything". Online practice is a decent thing for coaching, but instead of just creating a session for practice, you need to go to dojo, which, I suppose, in development spent much more effort to draw a cartoon PC. Feels like an optimised way of spending invested tekken coins from players
Me too, though learning Reina has been a grind but when you get the gameplan down I have alot fun as I'm sure every first timer with whatever character they main.
There are some promising changes. Although, game-balancing is the most importantly part. With the community currently on fire because of what seems to be a very overpowered Heihachi, the forthcoming balancing patch (Drag + Nina) will be even more decisive for the future of the game.
I'm so slow that I kept looking at this comment wondering what Hwaorang had in common with King (the character) and then I finally realized what you actually meant. I guess I'm an autistic king too.
Apart from Zafina, Every Character including Jun gets 34 health points back for a Heat Engager ..... Zaf gets Stiched as all hers cost her health to perform so she only gets back net 26 or 28 points depending if its a single or double hit ..........Unless the above has been Shadow Changed since I made my YT short back in April.
Lol that reset feature I've already seen in KOF 15. They are just introducing now. It should've been there long back. There's nothing to be that excited about.
feels like emergency patch cause Namco realise online player count has dropped drastically in last few weeks, and Terry release on SF6 has the fgc buzzing!
This is one of the best updates ever, in all online games. I hope Tekken 8 continues in this path of not only adding but enhancing the small but significant problems of the Game!
Rage deleted the game yesterday 🤣 lose so many points in tekken god always fighting max ranks I’m so glad they fixing the ranked. Excited to get it back
While i do agree that special style and modern are kinda nescessary to grow interest in the games and ultimately neither will save you when you encounter actually strong players. Its fine that they exist, but saying "just be better" is kinda bullshit. You have to be overwhelmingly better from low to mid level because them having a 0% chance of dropping their combo is a non negligable advantage they have over you that will matter if you're only marginally better. That said even though its bullshit.. its bullshit that you just need to deal with and tighten your game up just like any other of the 50 bullshit situations you'll encounter in fighting games. but lets not pretend that its not impacting the experience of lower level players who are actually trying to learn proper that are getting smoked by folk where the game is just handling the inputs for them.
Ranked changes are rly good. Ppl who have more than 3000 games in ranked with 1 character and are on emperor or tekken king and still dont know how frames work or what are punishes. They will have bad times losing to ppl who are on lower ranks but are good at the game.
the fact that it took this long to change losing more points to someone HIGHER rank than you is absurd. I'm not gonna give props for fixing something that should never have been an issue in the first place.
Fighting games sre feeling so exciting right now, i just got into them properly last year with SF6 but Tekken was with me all thru my childhood, and T8 came at the perfect time. Now hearing that ladt point about how alot of fighting game devs are cross communicating to share ideas has me giddy, kicking my feet around like im thinking about my crush 😍
absolutely. each dlc character has an element of 'pay to play' because in higher level play, everyone labs their anticpated opponent. everyone will be playing heihachi, just like lidia release week. serious competitive play demands that everyonehas access to what they need to compete on a level playing field.
Phiiiiiii keep up the in-depth content like this dude. A lot of us probably did watch the Tekken talk, but consume it easier when there’s someone to give comparisons to things in a pretty short and sweet way similar to how you do. Great vid bro.
I've been playing since the 1st Tekken.. Despite all my time with the series, PhiDX has made things SO crystal clear and easy to understand more than anyone I have ever seen! So idc if he never won a tournament, he is the best to me for how much he increases my joy of this game!
I wish they added a feature that allows the CPU dummy to auto-switch to whichever character was just your last opponent. Would be convenient for labbing what happened in the match but it should reduce loading times as well.
Let's just hope that the Tekken team has finally awaken their senses based on the amount of improvements Tekken 8 needs to have for the longevity of it's lifespan.
SF6 got their first non-Capcom guest character with Terry (and Mai soon), Akuma was in T7. They are also communicating to "make each others games better for players". Wanna bet someone from Tekken is gonna show up in SF6 next season?
im so glad they made the rank system more better. i was about to demote from garyu and low n behold i got a player that was mighty ruler. i beat him 2-1 but it was so saddening cuz i was basically back to square one.
@@Thinker117-j2r would you say it applies to me? i'm stuck in raijin right now, it's rough, especially with all the tekken emperor and higher ranked people coming down to play new characters
@jordanwalker3617 yeah man, raijin is rough because you lose ALOT on a loss, and you're sort of dipping your toes vsing both actual tekken players and brainless(newbies and thats okay) mashers. It's not a good spread for you to learn the game. Because you'd be fluctuating between fujin and raijin. There's a HUGE gap between fujin and bushin. And you being in front of that particular doorstep makes it not as fun IMO. These new changes have a high possibility of fixing that.
@@Thinker117-j2r yeah, i do have a huge problem of struggling to remember frame data so i'm having to simplify punishes in my head down to"launch, heat or jab" and even then it's still difficult because as you said there's mashers and i'm still not too well versed in tekken (basically first tekken game i've played online) and then an actual good player comes in and the only reaction you can think is "they beat the hell out of me" but those games end up costing you 1000 points and you next win you only get 150 back
Great breakdown! As a new player it’s so encouraging to see easier menu-ing bc going to replays after ranked sessions are such a pain. I have to exit ranked every time I get hit by a unique-property move to learn it, so the ‘go-to-replay’ button is my favorite addition
Great stuff. One thing I'd like to see is having more than 8 moves to practice defense. Some characters have WAY more core moves you need to lab, and I would like to practice with them at the same time. Maybe 12 slots instead of 8 could be enough.
U have ranking per character not per player that will decentivize using multiple characters since having the highest rank in multiple characters is a bragging rights resetting the rank would be sad for those who grinds them. Also games with rank resets are mostly free to play so there would be accounts that are "dead" unlike tekken which has a price upfront which will encourage players who bought the game to play it as much as possible
@@mariocruz591 Agree with the multiple characters. Disagree with the 2nd point, resting the rank or earning different rewards per season whether a badge or cosmetic is a badge for some games or a costume. And this does not only exist in free to play, games like COD and R6S have rank resets. Also these give you something to work towards to per season if you can earn something and actually increases the longevity of the game.
Those quality of life training mode features are soooooo fire!!! Thank you Harada. The number of hits on block is exactly what i've been wanting since day 1! Now you can really fine tune your strings!
These are all exciting changes and updates. I wish they would have improved the online experience a little more; The ability to immediately click on a player invite, or to have quicker access to recent opponents for various reasons.
instant replay analysis is definitely a great thing. I am still hopping for a Tournament mode to come one day. Concerning the ranking system, I think this is nice. I just don't understand too much the Tokken Powerness point yet. I think this is kind of strange. I litteraly lose points on a 7 win streak from 233k to 232k for example and earn point when loosing sometimes.
Thanks for this video! For someone who was definitely not gonna watch the whole Tekken talk, I was banking on this video. I appreciate the attention to details that are important to us!
