Hey K-Wiss just found your channel and as a Leroy players since the game came out(never got into him in T7 played Noctis and Julia [hope she comes back in T8]) really hyped for his buffs.
12:32 This change in particular tackles when people would step Azucena in the correct direction but still kept clipped by the second hit of df+1,4 so previously you had to SSL and Duck to avoid it. From the sound of these changes you dont have to do that anymore which is good
Not having to worry about powercrush while applying pressure with steve is such a nice QOL buff, and im also curious about what the new hit properties are for lionheart 1+2, nothing ground breaking but steves enjoyability went up alot with this patch
Tekken 8 patch notes: Line 1. Hwoarang will not be able to mash. Dev team implemented a cool down meter before you can do an input (Hwoarang specific).
Ngl the drag nerfs are good but some are excessive. Especially the wr2 frame nerf. I agree with the dmg reduction but nerfing the frame advantage is too much imo
@marcusscribner1603 what do you mean? Hatchet frames got nerfed and wr2 as well. So now, he has b1+2 left which is not a move you use in neutral anyway. So what moves does he have left?

Bryan didn’t really get much just a few bugs fixed and stuff Im pretty sure dragunov still on top for the most part got damage reduced and some other adjustments to make him fair but that won’t stop him from being annoying to fight against
@@aznkiller722uf2 buff is huge finally a whiff punish that packs some punch. and lionheart 1+2 so fast now i think you can actually beat pc now it’s a 10 frame window and most pc work at f7 so your opponent has 3 frames to input pc this could actually beat some pc i will def lab it edit: and at 10f window 1+2 now also trades with jab! and i think given the new properties it could actually be a launcher if jabed but idk yet.
Asuka buffs weren't what I was expecting. Was hoping her ff1 would have a reduce of recovery time and slightly better tracking. df2 be able to launch someone crouching. But we'll see how it goes. She didn't need damage buffs, she gets plenty. Would have liked some sort of defense buff on her end considering she's a pretty defense character with not the greatest approaches.

Lol truly. I went back to DJ for the first time since week 1 and months of playing Lars. I kinda felt underwhelming though I was stupidly rusty. Fought a Reina and got toasted. Kinda wish that instead of the hellsweep 1+2 option, we got to keep his T7 hellsweep.
@@TheSoufianeYea, I was expecting them to just adjust his hit boxes ngl. I play Bryan and I never feel underpowered against anybody. He has 90+ damage combos off just an orbital launch. Bryan was no joke and now he has a armor break move haha.
@@AntitoxinZero The only tangible change here is with the heat Smash and considering how it did not address the rest of its issues even that still make the move hot garbage, it won't make enough of an impact to matter. QCB4 fix (hopefully) after many years of it being a problem is nice, but it doesn't exacly do much as it could be alleviated with a sidestep before to a degree. SE 3+4 change is low impact, d3,2 would matter only if it jails. SE f212 change makes the move practically apllicable, instead of it being previously a gimmicky string for style points outside of taunt. All in all, it wouldn't affect his performance in tournaments as much as changes made to other characters and with those he kinda got worse in terms of match-ups (with ws4 buffs to Alisa and Jack, which are already a pain to play against for him), but the top competition got subdued a bit and it would closer the gap somewhat. Still gonna be underwhelming for tournaments imo.
These are the exact characters I called out in the chat when we heard about the buffs. Steve Zafina Leroy Jack 8 Asuka. I think at least two of them are now better than Hwo if not all of them. Bottom tier here we come!!
Kings Heat Smash lost 4 damage but nothing else so I'm happy but I've fought so many PC players that studder with 5 bars? Is that because of a weak PC?
Reina not really a problem compared to many other characters. If people have an issue fighting her they don't know how to block, duck or use their 10f jab to stop her sentai mix after FF2 😂 (worst scenario you trade)
I dont think king needs to be nerfed. I think people need to get better at fighting against him. Plenty of characters do way more damage for easier combos.
Arguably, combos are the opposite of the problem. In old Tekken when combos weren’t like this, it made sense to do huge damage with normals hits and strings. Your average king isn’t playing with combos lol
How many Azucenas were there in top24 of Evo Japan after Wr3,2 hotfix? Half an Azucena. (Mulgold switched to Azu but lost the set). She is getting a Katarina treatment from t7. Everyone is happy she's getting nerfed but then all of a sudden everyone realizes the character has no tools left to use and is sitting firmly in the garbage tier. Azucena does NOT have a regular 1,1 or 1,2, so now she has no good jab strings to use. And she is a Rushdown character 😒. High mid jabs can around -6, but they exist on characters that DO have 1,1 or 1,2. Since Wr3,2 is now +2 her opponents can now interrupt her df1 with jabs and she has only a singular 1 or 2 jab of her own to use. I am NOT saying just from the patch notes that she is unplayable or anything - we'll have to see in practice -, but Bamco does seem to listen to community outcry and as long as people are cheering for her nerfs she will get further down the tierlist until she hits the bottom. Just like it was with Katarina.
Damn…they didn’t really adjust Steve besides some basic bug and frames fixes. And the people who practiced making lion heart safe for weeks on end just got the peakaboo transition taken away. Also no damage buffs??? Sad day for Steve mains

There is no way you read or listen to the patch notes. This is huge for the majority of the roster. And clearly communicates that the June patch is focusing on defensive options

Half of the changes are nothingburgers that are glorified bug fixes, every single RA mention was just there for padding for example and there are many cases like that. It is in fact very minor for many characters that either didn't get anything at all (like Claudio, Hwo, Jin, Leo, Lili, Paul, Alisa, Shaheen, Nina, Victor) or barerly anything substantial to even matter (Bryan, Devil Jin, Eddy, Kazuya, Lars, Law, Lee, Raven, Reina). So again - calling it "huge for majority of the roster", when it is a nothing patch for the half of it and for a third of the rest is still rather minor, is an absolute cap.
@Grey0King This patch is mostly for nerfing the crazy top tiers' ridiculous moves and buffing the obviously bad characters a lot, which is what people were asking for. They're gonna save more of the balance changes for next patch. I'll take this

I just expected a kazuya fix that his twin piston is more consistent in combos that's all it just sucks to drop combos because he has t-rex arms. So i admit that "nothing was changed" is maybe a bit of a stretch lmao I was just frustrated tbh.
Tekken fans are the worst. Really don't know how I've been playing Tekken for almost 10 years and only noticed that this is easily the worst fan base in all gaming.
Throws are about to be obsolete now, 14F? I was already reacting to them better now mainly the 1+2 throws the regular 1+3 and 2+4 were fairly easy already
First thing is an Alisa buff, hope is at a low. So tldr : unnecessary buffs and not enough nerfs. Instead of making every character a powerhouse, they should’ve just toned down the s tiers, to bring back a more honest tekken.

Zafina didnt get anything, the 1,4 buff puts her in tarantula so its give a use to the stance that ppl dont really use as much which is ok but nothing too crazy. Patch winner is asuka, leroy, kuma, steve
The responses here make no sense. They literally explained their intentions for character buffs and nerfs. Zafina, Leroy, Steve received notable buffs and so did Asuka, Bryan, Jack, Kuma/Panda. Top tiers will be addressed in the following 1.05 patch.

And while I see folk whining about monkey flip kick, that’s really only hitting you if you don’t feel like breaking his obvious 1+2 throw or if you sitting at a distance just pressing buttons hoping that someone walks into you like every other Eddy. Aside from den 3, Lars has what? One frame trap? And that’s on his super punishable db+4 which only launches on CH, and everyone respects it or low parries it on higher ranks. Also, I think the den 3 change was positive for Tekken 8 because it’s trained every other player to hop kick Lars on reflex.
yeah a tech nobody could ever do consistently and only gave you a 22 punish after blocking pc… it was always way better to just 3 or 4 after heat smash to dodge the pc. and with 1+2 now only giving a 10 frame window it could actually beat some slow pc because not all of them start to work at f7 steve literally got a whiff punish launcher that deals super good dmg… he got massive buffs
I don't know why Azucena gets the goofiest nerfs. Just make wr 3,2 duckable or have pushback with some recovery. Miguel arms without Miguel is just trifling.
@@K-Wiss It's backsteppable, easy to jab, easy to side step, too hard to time to be worth it. More often than not while trying to apply it you just skid along the opponent and get launched. Pretty much any other running button she has is better because of the active frame nerf. If it has to be neutral or even a bit minus as compensation it'd be a better deal. The point blank use is a toxic design, but killing the ranged use doesn't fix that.
Honestly, zafina's mantis stance needs attention. I get what they were going for, but mantis is absolutely useless at the moment. It is the most diverse stance with a lot of moves (that they ended up taking away), but all but two are absolutely useless. It's only good for stance transitions. And it's good against people who don't know what the hell she's doing, but that's harder to find in higher ranks. I don't think Spider df1 should be super plus. Maybe +4 or 5, cause i can see myself spamming instant running into running 3 or running 1+2. It'll be an Azucena situation but r1+2 will be homing now, making it harder to dodge. Maybe make spider 4 into mantis not -22 so we can actually utilize mantis plz. And i think ff 2 should have better range. I'm right in their face, and ff2 still misses. Stopped using it a while ago. I don't want to sound like i know more than them, but they're making zafina into a pure mixup character instead of a stance focused one. Idk if i like that. We'll see when the patch comes, but i think all she needed help was on her tracking and buff some moves in mantis, and she would have been fine.
How is mantis useless? she can block in that stance, has strong CH set ups, the heat engager in that stance is +6 on block for even more pressure. Plus it’s a launcher when in heat. A safe launcher that’s plus on block. How is that useless? Now they’re buffing it even more by making d3 +7 on hit. d3~d can transition to mantis. So she’ll always be plus when going to MNT making challenging her even harder. A stance where she can block. Mantis is her best stance imo.

Please tell them to me because mantis 3,1 into 2 is not good. It's elementary, and doesn't work at higher levels without heavy conditioning and any sort of conditioning in mantis is hard enough. Mantis 3, 1 into 3,1 is also not good. You lose your turn, and you risk getting counter hit yourself. *It won't matter when d3 into mantis is buffed to +7, mantis df 1 can still be interrupted and easily sidestepped. Scarecrow df4 is +7 on hit and mantis df1 is not something people should be worried about whatsoever until you begin conditioning people, because at +7 df1 can be sidestepped and interrupted. And it's hard to condition people when mantis is so bad. * her lows in mantis are annoying but not threatening whatsoever. Mantis 3, the best move to continually stop steppers is -1 on block and -12 on hit and if you finish the string you lose your turn. Even mantis d 4 has horrible tracking and is launch punishable. None of her lows are that good in mantis. And you need them to utilize df 1. And some characters can even ss mantis 3 and mantis 4. So the next best option is mantis df 4, but that takes you out of mantis. So you gotta start the whole process again. Hope by the time you get into mantis, your opponent is scared to press buttons (at mid to higher, they are not) or you conditioned them enough for them to underestimate some moves. It's hard enough, but it's even harder to do on a first to 2 system. * her being able to to block in mantis is meaningless if most of her moves leave her super punishable or make her lose her turn. Her best moves are the ones that transition to other stances. They want us to use scarecrow and tarantula more since mantis was so strong in t7. I get it, but they didn't have to burn mantis this hard. * You act as if mantis df1 was her only plus frame move. As if she depends on it. She does not, whatsoever. It's good to utilize, but there are just too many weakness for it to be used without conditioning your opponent first. Running 1+2 and running 3 are amazing options. And they work well with ff4. Ff 3 is good and she has good, consistent, and actually scary options in and out of stance to deterr steppers. *Am I exaggerating? Yes. It's not an unplayable stance, but it's definitely underwhelming in comparison to the other two stances.
@@Hi-Hi1990 lol d3~d puts you in mantis so follow up with MNT 2 is a CH set up. MNT d4 into MNT 2 is another CH set up. MNT d/f 1 is a plus on block (+6) heat engager and launcher on hit while in heat. If they try to take back their turn 1+2 will just beat jabs and it won’t trade for some reason go ahead try to lab it. Plus It’s only -10 with follow ups you can catch ppl trying to press buttons MNT is literally the stance where you fish for CH. making d3 +7 now makes MNT even more threatening. It complements MNT 3 1 now and that move becomes a lot stronger and harder to sidestep. Power crush or heat burst activation becomes easier to challenge. MNT d1 beats sidestep in both direction. All the buffs this patch directly or indirectly buff MNT. D3 into MNT 2 was already a threatening CH set up and now you can more plus frames to go aggro with. MNT is her best stance and if it wasn’t before it is now
None of this works from d3. They can all be interrupted by wr 4, a dick jab, and side stepping. I have labbed it my guy because I really liked mantis. SOME of this can from scarecrow df4 but even dick jabbing and side stepping still counters some of her follow ups. Mantis 4 to 2 is the best counter, yes. But many people don't fall for it anymore and take the free punish. Like I said, you have to condition people first and that's hard to do when d3 is ass, tarantula 4 leaves you minus, and her other transitions are obvious and make distance. The only viable way to get into mantis is through scarecrow df4. It doesn't matter if mantis df 1 is +6 on block and a launcher in heat when it's super linear. Even on +7, you can still side step pretty easily unless you're a big character. I like to condition first before throwing it out in heat and I only do it when my heat is almost over. You're acting as if it's a free launcher when it's really not. I still use mantis but I often end dying because of it. I'm stubborn, but I gotta incorporate tarantula more. And I forgot mantis d1 was a thing thanks for reminding me lol.
@@K-Wiss the 1 is an i10 punisher, but the 4 is not guaranteed. It's i19 and 1 only gives you +8 on hit, and it is -5 on block. +22 and reducing pushback "to facilitate offense" sounds like it was made into a launcher. Or it may have been a typo. But it does kinda look like a launcher already lol.

@@K-Wiss we played around with it and she flips into tarantula after the hit so that's probably an accurate entry, the extra frames let her safely transition into tarantula with a few frames left over to start your offense.

saw the edit: so its not about nerfs, its about gutting a character 2 weeks before a major tournament (combo breaker). all this does is make people drop the character and jump ship to the next top tier which lowers character diversity. BN should strive to nerf characters but still keep them strong. We should want all characters to be A tier, not nerf S+ characters to low tier.
