The claymation represents the morning side, the metallic world represents the action-adventure side, the cut-out animation represents general animation and the edgy creepy stop-motion represents the adult side. Right?
SO happy to rewatch this. First 2 years of Teletoon was magical time, and that's in big part thanks to these bumpers. Gave the whole experience a strange, eerie vibe. I loved Teletoon At Night programming(watched religiously) and also the weekend adult anime slot
I remember I was like 5-6 years old and the Night Planet ones stick out most in my mind (probably because I stayed up way past my bedtime most nights lmao)
Morning planet: Funny silly aliens having a good time. Afternoon planet: Action pack robots. Evening Planet: Coming back home to weird looking but somewhat okay place. Night Planet: WELCOME TO NIGHTMARE FUEL. DON'T WATCH OUR STUFF.
Night Planet gives me chills, but in a nostalgic way. I was 14 when these aired and I used to watch Teletoon religiously, and I had a TV in my bedroom so I'd often stay up late and watch from bed. I can only imagine how terrifying these must have been for younger viewers. For me, they have a weird dreamlike quality to them since I'm used to seeing them at, say, 1 in the morning on a school night.
Even though I was born in 2009, these bumpers still give me nostalgia because it just FEELS like the late '90s. My favorite planet is the Evening planet, as it gives me that warm feeling of hanging out in the suburbs, watching TV with my family right after dinner. Also holy crap that dog at 1:40 just SCREAMS uncanny valley
I remember sneaking out of bed when I was 7 to watch Teletoon and the late night planet scaring the fuck out of me Now that I've found it again I see my fears were justified
@@ssecvision4376 Actually, that was her long-forgotten boyfriend, Scrumpy. He was a relatively minor character who only really appeared in the second season --- a.k.a. the season where everything changed, at least in terms of animation style. He only appeared in like nine episodes before ultimately getting swatted during him and Maggie (and the _other_ new guy, Bumpkis)'s picnic. Scrumpy later died at a nearby hospital, wishing peace among his girlfriend and his other friends. Unfortunately, that peace didn't last for long; this was, quite ironically, the last episode of the series before Mickey Mouse decided to save money by cancelling _The Buzz on Maggie_ in favor of having Steve Urkel appear in nearly every episode of _Kim Possible_, which incidentally enough also got that series cancelled as well. Curse you, Mr. Mouse!!!
My favourite planet is the Night Planet because it is full of mysteries and I’m kind of mysterious on the bumpers that weren’t shown are”Hallway” and “Eye Monster”and other 15 Night Planet bumpers.
The 3rd is not a family. There was Duckman in it. It's the Evening planet. That would be logic but Evening is like the Night Planet. So at 6 p.m. it was adult even if it's family hour.
@@LegoMoviesSuck No that's supposed to be that really, but there is no logic. I don't why they say that the Evening Planet is for family because there was a lot of adults' shows ! It's what I was saying that it's not false, but Teletoon wasn't logic.
What I think about them: The morning planet: it has a lot of effort into it, I also kinda feel sorry for the teletoon company cause it looks like an pain in the ass to make these. The afternoon planet: basic animation, but good, these are the only bumpers that cuppa coffee studios didn't make, which is impressive, I don't know the animator's name, but I'll support him, and the music is so bassy. The evening planet: this must be the most impressive photo animation ever, cause there's alot of effort put into it, like a lot of effort, this will aways be my favorite planet in this channel. The night planet: this planet is scary as fuck! They made it look scary, cause 1. Some people are scared of the dark, and 2. They teach kids not to stay up late (clever, Canada), like the morning bumpers, this was a pain in the ass, cause they will knock over a bunch of shit, at least the first two isn't scary. So for my overall score: 10/10, each planet feels fitable and have their own animation style, it's really impressive. You did a good job, cuppa coffee studios, oh, and the animator for the afternoon bumpers as well.
@Shaw, Bailey, J Bus and Greene in the RU-vid AUTTP well yeah. i'm sure americans stayed up late to watch adult swim specifically because they weren't supposed to. if kids know something isn't intended for them, that will only pique their interest.
Intresting facts to know about these. I actually remember when this station premiere and like the concept they had with the planets, I also agree the themeing to them fits well with what they were going for. Kudos for a clever way to scare the crap out of me for the nightmare planet...but I still watch those shows anyways.
2:24 I heard this bumper was unused. I think. This one was probably my favourite one out of them all, maybe because my favourite planet out of all of them was this one.
They recruited much of the same design team (Cuppa Coffee) responsible for Disney Channel's 1997 rebrand to do Teletoon's on-air IDs for it's first year (1997-98).
Even though I'm not from Canada, these bumpers still feel a bit nostalgic to me since in America, we had similar weird bumpers like these in the 90s, especially on Nickelodeon.
TBH, The evening planet would be one less nightmare I’ll be having because the collage animation is going to scare the bejesus outta me!! The fly bumper gave me some serious Buzz On Maggie vibes because I don’t know which episode it’s from.
Fun fact: the first ever program to ever air as part of the launch of teletoon in canada in october of 97 was the controversial educational show *CAILLOU*
yeah, they actually aired these on TV. They showed stuff like Ninja Scrolls and Wings of Honneamise and adult cartoons like pond life and duckman. But once people caught wind there were nudity in some of these shows without disclaimers, parents complained to the network and that's why a lot of these bumpers and tv shows are out of circulation or edited now - stuff like the bumper at 4:03 was altered to be less "scary", the original had a baby xylophone that'd usually play the station's jingle.
Yo! Thanks for uploading these btw!! Years ago in 2002, in our animation class, one of our friends asked the dudes at Cuppa Coffee Studios if they had anything they could send him for an animation assignment we were working on and they set back a VHS tape with these bumpers on it - it blew our minds as kids, cause it had the time stamp and everything -- I completely forgot about these till I saw them here. Very cool find guys. Really happy to see these finally up here!!
But yeah another animated short that got pulled from teletoon was Lolita: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hOqr_5W4m8Y.html ...A lot of mom's didn't like this one, my friends loved it though, lol.
LordBlueRouge Is that the one with that pencil drawings there was no colour is just a white background with pencil drawings? About a girl that wants to have sex? That’s always peeing?
Tootuff Fan, apparently there was an unused Night Planet bumper that featured a clock. Do you have access to that? And if you do, could you upload it? I’m quite curious.
These bumpers are creative but a little too intense imo. I think that's why they didn't last long. Those "Télétoon at Night" bumpers are completely out of place, however.
@@Blunko_McSqwuntley speak for yourself. i was terrified by teletoon detour/teletoon at night back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. (to be fair, it's probably because i'm autistic and i scared a lot more easily than most kids.) if i had seen this kinda stuff during my childhood, i probably woulda shit my pants.
@@ryangallagher9723 Well, the only thing that scared me from The Detour/Teletoon at Night back when I was a kid was that Mutant Enemy segment from Robot Chicken.
I miss the Teletoon planets including the Morning Planet/Preschool Block, the Afternoon Planet/Kids Block, the Evening Planet/Family Block and the Night Planet/Adult Block in 1997.
ok so,, i got a lost media i search,, its a teletoon Ident,, some kind of bigfoot wake up and smash is alarm clock,, then he move into is house,, i dont know if he goes to the Kitchen or the bathroom but either he open is fridge or he look in the mirror,, then he saw the logo of Teletoon,, that was played early in the morning,, at 6 AM,, it was in 2006 but i dont know more information about that,, if someone can help me to find it or just saying if he got more information about it,, it would be really more than perfect
@@jefflogan2020 since then i got more information if you are interest,, i first though it was maybe a bumper of life is a zoo,, cause,, you know,, sasquatch,, claymation,, so i listened to all the episode of it,, but i just lost my time,, it was not it,, after i asked Teletoon on facebook litterally,, but they said to me they didnt keep old bumper they made,, but during my long search someone actually tell me they knew the exact bumper i was talking about ! so this bumper was not a product of my imagination ! this exist ! and he most be somewhere !! but i still didnt find it,,, and since the lost media wiki dont care about this,,, im still alone in my research
The first 3 planets are fine, but the last planet is FRIGHTNING. By the way, does anybody know the times that each planet ran from and what programs were shown during each planet?
I think it was their intention to make the Night Planet scary for the sake of being "avant-garde" and "off-beat", as well as it being targeted to 18-34 year olds. That would also explain why Cuppa Coffee used Paper-Mache for the Night Planet.
2:24 I've seen Teletoon 1997 tapes and on all of them I never found this ident anywhere, the only original source material I found this on 4plantes1nightmare. Was this ident EVER shown on TV?
They found they weren't making enough $ by being a channel dedicated to the diversity of animation, so they had to sell out to what was most popular in order to increase viewership
