The Holmer lake Story
Welcome to The Ultimate guide to Telford new town.
In Part seven we look at One of Telford`s most important Lakes Holmer lake in South Telford.
This lake has a whole community built around it.
We look at the lake, The Wildlife & the amazing volunteers that keep it going. We also look at the lake`s residents and what sort of property you can at holmer lake.
We also look at what happens when Holmer lake`s dam overflows in a freak flood.
This video series has been researched and created by Steve Bowers better known as the New Homes Historian.

love the video..and the brookside film..grew up there..my playground as a child ..of course no houses or many trees round the lake then..used to catch newts amd walk for what seemed miles..summer of 76 ..ace.

cant find part 6? love the vids of holmer lake and brookside, I grew up on brookside and spent a lot of time round holmer lake..... good stuff!

Am I the only person who remembers the wooden structure c. 1970s-early 1980s that served as a shop selling drinks, sweets, and ice creams ?

Noise of the major road is probably the biggest problem there. Not sure how that could be reduced with out blocking the view from the road.

I'm sure the lake was empty in the late 80s early 90s. I worked at Halesfield Adult trading center then, and I remember going down to the lake and observing the route of the ' Madbrook , as the lake was drained. I spent many days as a Childe colecting fossils, on the shore either side of the dam, when it was still exposed Wenlock lime stone.
