Welcome to The Frey Life daily vlogs! We are Peter & Mary, a married couple in our early 30's, showing the ups and downs of everyday life with #CysticFibrosis, a genetic lung disease that Mary was born with. In August 2019, Mary started a new CF medication that changed the trajectory of our future, and we are now in the process of growing our family through #adoption. We have an adorable standard poodle, Oliver, and a hairless sphynx cat, Harry. It's our hope that these videos can be an encouragement to to celebrate the little things in life and find joy amidst a world full of hard realities!

I am so Happy for ya'll! My husband and I had 6 grown children. And we adopted our grandson. We first got him 10 years ago. He is 15 now. And through my illness he has helped me grow in my faith as much as I have him. We didn't know how things would go for either one of our health issues. But God got us through joyfully. I am a birth parent(genetic parent) myself and I encourage you to really look into open or semi open, not for the genetic parents’ sake but for your child. It’s much easier on them so they don’t have to go through the “finding my parents” thing. It’s worked well for the parents and family of the son I placed.

Congratulations again you guys! As a chronic illness Mama who was told I would never be a mom, and am now a mom of twin boys…I will tell you it’s not easy. But nothing that is easy is ever worth it. It is beyond worth the tired days and long nights. No greater joy. Can’t wait to see you guys flourish as parents. 💛

i've been fighting depression so, so hard and this is the first time in a long time that i've cried tears of joy. thank you. i can't wait to follow along, your strength amazes me and i identify as an atheist but i listened to your whole podcast video about the process of adoption and i have to say a wave of peace washed over me. i don't know what that means, but thank you for the peace i've felt today and the joy i've felt for you, for the first time in a long time. all my love.

When we built David’s (my son) crib for the first time, we made it up with bedding, turned around, turned back and Major, our German Shepherd at the time, had jumped in! The joys of expectant parenthood, whether natural or via adoption! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Peter! Hi Mary! I just wanted to take the time to say thankyou, im saying thankyou because a couple of years ago i went through some stuff that made me the coldest/meanest most negative version of myself- I was always angry and could never see the good in anything and i refused help. I started watching you guys somewhere and 2016 and honestly i thought “How can these people love life and continue to stay so strong through this illness.” and im gonna admit that it annoyed me a little. but NOW in 2021 I’m back and ive been binging every single video, I cannot even begin to express the positive vibes that radiate from you two. I am SOSOSO thankful for your inspiration and motivation to always remain positive and see the good in things.

Ohhhh. I have so much joy from hearing this news! Congratulations! We too went through all you are going through about 19 years ago. My heart just about burst when you announced it. All the emotions and all the tears. It is all worth it and our son is a miracle in our lives. He has added so much to our lives. The wonderful family and church family is invaluable. So, so happy for you both! The Lord will bring you the perfect child to call your own, as He has planned it from the beginning of time. He loves you so, so much!

The most special thing about you two is your honesty, never showing off or trying to wow us with some trip or purchase or beauty tip. My only experience with my adoption is my psychologist who adopted 2 children. It seemed to me to definitely be a venture largely for the very wealthy who could afford what is needed to accomplish it . So when you mentioned there was a group to help with that for more regular folks I rejoyced.

I’ve been watching you guys on and off for probably about 3 years, starting when Mary’s health was starting to decline and I was actually really worrisome for her in my own life, and I remember you guys saying that a child wasn’t ever going to be an option with Mary’s health, and let me tell you when I was SHOCKED when I saw this huge announcement! I’m so happy for you both and the part where someone’s child said “Peter is going to be a dad!” It just warmed my heart so much and I’m balling over here in Ohio! Do what you think you can’t do, right?! So so happy for you and your future child. I’ll be watching!

I always find it odd the process that people have to go through to adopt a child, but if you get pregnant, you're good to go. No home study, no interviews to make sure you're able to care for a child, etc. This statement is by no means anything negative about the 2 of you, obviously, you will pass with flying colors. That is going to be one very lucky little boy or girl.

Mary and Peter! I just wanted to say that y’all are an inspiration to me. I feel like I can somewhat relate to you as I have an autoimmune disease myself and it runs my life. To see you Mary, push through every day truly is amazing! If I had one with in the world, it would be to meet you guys! I myself have had 51 surgeries and you both give me hope that I can make it through everything! I am also trying to get back to god and since I have been mad at him for all of me my poor health. I would love to talk to you Mary and share our war stories and I would love to talk to Peter and talk about my temporarily loss of faith.

I am so excited for you guys. Me and my husband did fostercare for almost 8 yrs , we had 15 foster kids in that time and adopted our youngest 3 from the foster system. My youngest is now 21 (we got her at 7 months) I love hearing adoption stories or really just parenting stories. Continuing to pray for you, that God blesses you beyond belief

I'm so happy for you both! Yes, lots of background checks, home inspections, baby safe latches, land line phone, etc. My kids have gone through this and it's very thorough. You'll do just fine! There are so many deserving children just waiting for parents. What a lucky child this will be❤️👏🥰

You are going to be amazing parents and this baby is extremely lucky :) My heart melted when you first announced it because I remember the time when you, Mary, were doing poorly and the future didn't look as good as it actually is now. You two are going to be amazing parents! You've always had so much love and joy in your hearts, and I just know your child is going to be so happy to be apart of your lives! I am my best friend's daughter's godmom. I live with her and being apart of this kid's life is one of the best parts of my life easily. She adopted her from her sister because her sister has had a lot of problems and isn't in a place where she can take care of her kids anytime soon. As her godmom and someone living in the house with them, I also had to do a health examination and fingerprints to make sure I'm safe to live with and could take care of her full time should anything ever happen to my friend (let's hope that never happens). It took almost 2 years for my friend to finish the adoption process but it's all been worth it. For example, tonight, unprompted as she was carried up to bed she looked back at me and said "I love you" :,)

I am so happy for you both! I am praying for you both & your baby! I am a Mom of a 26 year old adopted son! I remember going through all the paperwork & the home study. We enjoyed it because it got us closer to our future baby! After infertility we adopted our son & then I got pregnant with our daughter! It was so crazy & such a miracle!
