I agree. How do you exercise that right without getting a default judgment against you? Or what if that occurs and now what ?? Kids ripped away given to abuser and they are keeping them away no visits no phone calls nothing. Judge said four hrs a week supervised time @$40-50 an hour. I can't pay that if I wanted first of all !! My kiddos are two girls ages 3 &6 we left our home in 2020. Due to ongoing coercive control physical violence Infront of our kids and emotional abuse to all of us....the violence escalated more and more the more I reigned in control from him. Ending with a personal safety order in place by my mom whom kids and I live with , so he cannot come to our house. He violated that slashed her tires and threatened to kill us both directly to the kids who were terrified. He then strangled me. Two days later he came and unleased a beating on me. Blacking my eyes gashing my head busting blood vessels in my eye. My whole left arm and side and leg were black due to defensive posturing. We called the law I told them how afraid I was in oral testimony of what happened they took photos of emails he sent declaring he was coming back to kill me and more. Then he came back while they were there and he was arrested. Still yet he filed for custody with a petition full of bs lies and blatant contradictions. He made more threats about me going to court paying the victims and how he would retaliate. So. I took my chances being ignorant to the rules of court and I ignored it all . He continued to behave as if nothing was happening and then sent a photo of the final order declaring me unfit mentally emotionally and accusing me of abuse and neglect. Claiming we left in 22 and hee had been caring for our kids the past 24 months totally without me. Lies. But he had the order. He waited until June an came with the sheriff and took our girls away. And left their nine year old brother btw. He didn't ask for Sawyer not a word of him in the whole thing! Told me to keep him! I file ETPO and was granted it went to get girls back. Go to final for that Infront of same FAM court judge and she basically shamed me and screamed at me calling my mom. And I liars said she did not believe he did any of the things and I didn't show so bam. He gets the kids. Your life is now over. Done. So. Any advice if you read this far?? No cps referrals even tho he tried. No GAL. No drug testing nothing. Been since June 27i have seen my precious girls. Heard their voice once. He changed his number and only calls to ask why I left him why I won't reconcile etc. Sends lewd photos with text saying he loves me,! He lied and manipulated the court into stealing my girls causing so so much trauma and allowing him to use them forever as a way to punish me for standing up for myself. I applied for legal aid she is going over my paperwork. I've reached out to every advocacy group I can. I'm having a rough time articulating my story without it being too long or getting dates mixed up. I am trying to organize it all.. but I need guidance bad. I can't go on like this for months I know my girls are hurting so bad. Makes me sick physically. Pls advise.

I think that’s the reason for going to court. The court has the responsibility to try to keep kids out of abusive situations. They can’t do that if they don’t look at anyone’s situations.
