Wow I never really knew much about Telly Savalas until 2017 when I started watching Kojak episodes and watching the Roast of Telly Savalas and reading about him. Then I realized how cutting edge Kojak was and what a great guy Telly was. This video shows what a great showman he is, he owns it.
Great opening when he pulls up in his Buick from Kojak. You can tell this was done at CBS Television City as you see the Match Game "Super Match" board just to the right of Telly's car.
This is priceless. That song summarizes the 70's all the way. If you listen to Telly's non-melodic singing, you may be hearing the first incarnation of Rap.
Telly is freakin awesome... one of my top 3 fav actors. he was so cool i wanted want to be like him. wish he was still around. his charisma alone couldnt be matched. no one had style that cool walk and talk ... who loves ya baby, Coochi coo baby
Watch at the very beginning as he pulls up alongside the Super Match board from the "Match Game" set! A clear giveaway that this was CBS Television City in L.A.!
OMG - this is so cool! I was (& still am a big Cloris fan) & used to go to ALL of her TV Shows Live in the 70's. I was in the front row for this.. She sang a GREAT song about being an actress - & was nominated for an Emmy. Barbara Eden sang "If". Don't remember what Diahann sang. Thanks for posting. Funny, as a teen I had huge 70's "afro" style hair - now I am shaved like Telly! thanks for posting!
Really? The front row? That's amazing. I love everything about this from the wardrobe to the set design, of course Telly but, especially the choreography. I'm a dancer.

Good post and I think Nipsey made a great point there. Even though the difference here is that Telly was a full-blooded Greek (but not Sicilian), there's nothing preventing all three groups from sticking together! :) This could be me, but sadly, I think that everyone was more open-minded towards one another back in the 70s and 80s than they are now. So I try to make it important to preach tolerance.
For the beautiful, kind, wise people of the cradle of Western civilisation...The Greek People of Greece, the Diaspora and United States...Filakia poli...makari...sagapow =D
Fan-effin-tastic…I’m into season 5 of Kojak and he actually doesn’t use that tag line often…he does call quite a few people “baby” and some “Who loves ya?” but way less than I had thought…
È il suo stile essere così..per questo non si è gelosi ..qualsiasi persona era piccola baby o chi ti ama perché vlui è di tutti.Hai ragione però...nella 5 stagione lo dice meno e mianca
Kraft, bringing you the best world whatever eating? That was that in the 70s? Were expectation that low? Or something happened since then? All I know from kraft is mac and cheese and american cheese.
hahahahahqahahahahahah i freaking love Telly.... omg so much lost in todays "leading men". Having said that, yeah I know it's pretty cheesy but back in the day he could do no wrong.
Diahann Carroll, who loves ya, baby? Barbara Eden, who loves ya, baby? Cloris Leachman, who loves ya, baby? All standing under that giant lit up “Telly” sign. Bald is beautiful, baby! I think he’s getting him some, dig?
whaT a Character===LoVed hiM!! oNe daY at the Del Mar Horse Races i tapped his head froM oVer a Fence as he walKed to the Winner's CircLe... He was NoT aS TaLL aS hiS PersoNa seeMed......RIP
quite funny how telly was trying to make a Isaac hayes style song....can you dig it? I guess Nipsey Russel is right....the blacks and the Sicilians have to stick together.
This is beyond pathetic! Telly Savalas is Frank Sinatra in hiding, who also played Cesar Romero... Cesar Romero was the Joker in the Batman Tv Series... and his hidden son Jack Nicholson aka the joker in the movie version of Batman.... And it plays out in a pattern of activity, that Nicolson has a ton of hidden careers too... He was Jon Voight of Midnight Cowboy... So, who sang, Everybody's Talking about Me in Midnight Cowboy? Glen Campbell aka Jack Nicholson who turns out to be Neil "Nazi" Young aka Jon Denver. So how do you get all these forged careers? You. have to be related to the Nazi Dictator known as Hitler aka Bing Crosby,,,, Sinatra was Bing Hitler's brother... Why do you think they call it a "Bing" Search?
