Referring to yourself in the third person, not a good look Bill. I think if youre going to try to disrupt normal order, you may want to at least bring some game. That was just unpleasant honestly, and while some entrenched folks will rally to sides, I for one would appreciate civil, productive, ordered discussion. It's worked so far, and one person shouldn't get unlimited attempts at throwing out the rule book because they're unhappy. Lots of folks are unhappy, get to work and get stuff done, these little tantrums are bones thrown to a base and other than that, a complete waste of time.
This councillor better watch out because the incumbent Sarnia mayor for almost four (4) decades might finally come out of the closet wearing his velvet gloves.
Mike suggests that the Councilor, is destroying the chemistry of the council? What he means is he will have total sway with this council, for instance saying he was answering the request of the Council to hold this meeting and in the same sentence saying well I suggested it but they agreed. Say what? A councilor interrupts on a point of order, but the Lord Mayor says no, I am going to drag this out, because this is our chemistry. The Bradley Mayoral Dynasty. Sarnia; Population 72K, as it has been forever.
I would be interested in the opinions of all councillors about this exchange. They have the most knowledge about the day to day environment and have been voted into office based on trust in there integrity. Let’s hear everyone out.
Councilor Dennis, seems to be out of order wanting to make his point. I must say that The Mayor speaking calmly and smoothy displaying his 80 or so years of experience is not much better. His life in service to Sarnia has been granted by the voters, to say he gave his life to the chair is a little rich. Also reminding the Councilor not to get personal and then using his polished snarky wit to offer a personal observation about the Councilor's burden is all Mike Bradley. Mike comes to the meeting because it is his duty? First he is leaving to the Hospital, then adjourning for 5 min.
I’m with Mike on this. Let’s see the real Bill Denis… Oh we did, he acted like a petulant child when he didn’t get his way. He just started flinging mud around the room at the end.
Why did the chair interrupt Bill Dennis? Why was it referred out? I have questions about the study. Why compare Canada, a cold country, to India, a subtropical country. Thats apples to oranges. Homes in India do not require heating nor do a majority have AC. Less than 7% of population have cars. Small land mass with 1.8 billion people. How does this make a reasonable comparison? What a waste of time for a study. Sounds like a "how do you want this to look" study. 20% of India population does not have access to toilets. Is this what we are aspiring to?
You might have gotten answers to all those questions, if Bill had just waited a couple of minutes for the formal debate, where he would have had the floor, uninterrupted (so long as he maintained the decorum required by the Procedural Bylaw) and could have asked them. He could have even asked them of the delegation, instead of insulting and attacking him. Now, due to his grandstanding behaviour, the meeting was cut short, the process undermined, the institution of government diminished and you (Sarnia's taxpayers) will be left hanging and with a big Integrity Commissioner bill and more wasted time dealing with all the Code of Conduct breaches.
