Born and raised in Temple city for 25 years! I miss it daily! Going back this summer

Brings back memories from growing up there in 60's and 70's. Temple City lost its charm for me when the old Temple theater was torn down; along with Mike's pastrami. Good to see the mountains were visible; when I was growing up you could not see two miles due to the smog.

I grew up right in that same neighborhood. I remember seeing Billy Jack at the temple theater. And so many other movies. I remember Mike's pastrami also. My hang out was stop and go market. Candy and returning bottles Do you remember Gateway market? Those were the days.

I grew up in Temple City. Lived in 13 different houses but always Temple City. From 1956 till 1980. We were lucky enough to live there during the best time. I don’t feel its changed for the better. It made me sad last time I took a sentimental journey back there.

I lived on South Golden West Avenue from 1940 until 1949. My house still is there and lived in, but so much on the street has changed. Las Tunas Drive is hardly recognizable. I attended Longden school and would often walk home . Your drive followed much of my path, but most of what I knew is gone now. Anyone remember Buster Brown shoe store?

At 8:56 you drove right by the house I grew up in! We lived there from 1960-1973. 9105 Emperor Ave.

I have visited temple city in early march 2021 when my aunt had to go to get vaccinated. I wish I can revisit or live there for just 1 year. The place is beautiful in my opinion and I get to see a group of ethnicity different than mine in my area (hispanic). I always wished to experience asian community and environment.

I grew up in Arcadia 1950s. Temple City was a nice small town then. Loved your video but one recommendation. As you're driving please announce the streets you are driving on. So many landmarks have changed. It was hard to read the street signs. Beautiful day for a drive.

Born and raised in TC from '61 to 2001. Strange to see what's the same and what's changed. I've driven through it many times since its sort of a central city in the San Gabriel valley.

Thanks dude, but why the first 7 minutes? On your path, TC doesn't start until Temple City Blvd and Camino Real. "Born and raised" in Temple City. Family has lived in the same house for 49 years. I'll bet not many people can say that anymore. It's not black and white, but I loved TC up till about 1988. Live Oak Park and Temple City Park were the two hub for kids growing up in the 80s. I used to spend all day Saturdays with my pals riding around Las Tunas, hitting up Kenrich Co, the stationary store, the book story, the library, sporting good store, McVey's hardware store, and when the Edwards Theater came . . . movies! TC High School was an awesome. TC was full of micro-communities whether church, soccer, baseball, school, boy scouts, etc. You really could go too many places and not run into people you knew, were acquainted with, or some other kids mom or dad. Looking back it was probably one of the last vestiges of small town-like communities in LA Co left. It is either gone now, or at least replaced with an entirely different culture.

@@30over3 I raised my two kids in TC and I’ve never seen any evidence of what you say. Just too many bridal photography shops and tea shops and noodle shops. Gone are the family owned business, the hardware store, McVeys? and Mana Patrillos pizza. And why is there still an empty lot where Alpha Beta once stood? Temple city has turned into a dump.

@@joemusic2882 I used to work at Aaron Bros. on the corner of Baldwin and Las Tunas and a former T.C. Sheriff came in to buy frames. She asked if I live in the neighborhood and I told her I've lived by T.C. High my whole life. I remember this distinctly because she made this look on her face, almost a disgusted look. "Why?", she asked me. I told her I've been trying to move to the beach. Then she said she'd been having problems with the Triad when she worked for T.C. and for over a decade which made her move to another town. Not only that but look around you. They run that area and the surrounding cities. Asians say there's a dragon constellation above T.C., Arcadia, Alhambra, San Gabriel etc. which brings them good luck. That's the main reason why they've all moved there. I have other stories but I don't want to get in trouble. Peace Joe!!
