It is very sad to see youth of today falling for Praveen Mohan theories without ever thinking that Indian craftsmanship in that era was extremely skilled. The thought these amazing sculptures could be made by indigenous skills instead of some alien technology doesn’t even cross their mind. Craftsmen (mostly Dalits) are basically invisible for them. It is truly sad.

An architect is someone who designs buildings, a brahman is someone who gathers knowledge. These are not both mutually exclusive jobs.

Aranya being an architecture student hurts me that he can still hold such thoughts. I am an architect and masters in history of art, i have laways marvelled at my own lack of knowledge on the skills of the craftsmen and artisans on site, the carpenters and masons are so intuned with their materials and tools and can create so many extra ordinary things that we as a designer might struggle with.

I understand what Ashish is trying to say, he's saying, if someone uses more units of electricity, they must have more appliances in their houses, which proves that they don't necessarily need that subsidy. While Vimoh is right to point out that people siphon off electricity, demand more than they need, these people need to pay too (because they'll obviously end up siphoning more than the said 100 units). So, I do feel Ashish is right about a few things. Although some states, like Punjab, have increased subsidy knowing these facts and we need to accept that electricity consumption is different for different states. Punjab has extreme climates, along with flood etc. This does need more electricity consumption.
