@@xasm83 Not more than 2 children. World population is already trending to a plateau and then decline by about 2050. In an sane economic system we don't need replacement labour, we need local democratic Natural Law resource based systems of automation and mutual aid so that we actually have more with less. Buckminster Fuller knew this many decades ago. But we don't have to panic. For the next 30 years population is going up. The key is to build that better social system with the skills and talents we have so when the population starts to decrease, we are already working less per day and per week to maintain our high standard of living. People will have more free time and ability to truly pursue interests, explore, socialize and problem solve when their necessary labour is cut down drastically from our ridiculously wasteful and inefficient capitalist-based economy today.

Robotics and AI is not a practical thing for the next 10 years at least and given Canada's ancient infra and bureaucracy probably even more. Kicking people out or keeping them without a status as semi-slaves doesn't sound like mutual help and a social system. There is a huge demand for labour even now, I am not even talking about the isolationism future when China is an enemy and not a supplier. Until now the solution was to use colonies for cheap labour and "fair trade". Seems like that epoch is over. Until robots and AI are a reality the most important commodity will be the people and the ability of a country to bring and integrate people from outside places where the population still growths. All this fuss is just Canadians who used to get everything without any efforts preaching "they took ur jobs" but things wont continue as it was.

For the hopefully rare cases where it happens, I think we have to begin evicting even people who got their permanent residence or citizenship, and shutting down their businesses if its clear they immigrated here to hire immigrants on an unregistered cash basis. These employees may not have access to health or other benefits if injured on the job. Its completely unethical, possibly illegal, and many are paid below minimum wage I have heard, undercutting local wages and exposing these employees to illegal and real dangers. If this was Europe, people would be protesting in the streets if these practices were happening. We are not supposed to be the third world and we do not have to be. Canadians just need to stop accepting this third world behavior like we need to stop accepting slum-like apartments so we can end out productivity crisis. Just my opinion.

You want to stop immigration from being too much? Educate yourself and others on the root cause. Hint: It's late stage capitalism. End capitalism before it ends us. If there are not enough jobs or housing, that makes sense. But I think the bigger issue is we cannot keep letting slum-lords put 20 people in house, or 2 or more people in a room, or letting employers pay workers under minimum wage without any documentation, exposing workers to the risk of being injured with no access to benefits. Canadians need to realize if we import third world standards, this will cause productivity to drop. So the solution is what the Europeans know well. Inform workers of their rights, and firmly go after anyone that violates these standards. Just my opinion.

nobody said you can take things for granted, change your job, move to a different city, etc - sitting and blaming others is not a good solution. Canada lacks skilled labour and there is no other way to catch up except skilled migrants.

Just to freak you out even more: India is number one with the highest number of Emigrants, as of 2020, with 17.9 million, which is about 6 million more than the second highest, Mexico, and you can imagine where most of the Mexican migrants move to. Canada is 8th for the most number of immigrants taken in at 8 million, below France with 8.5 M and above Australia with 7.7 M, USA has a staggering 50.6 M (USA is number 1! USA! USA!) and Germany at number 2 with 15.8 M. India has over 1.4 billion people, even if they had 400 million people move away, they'd still have over 1 billion people crowding up the densely populated region. So, in some sense, it could be FAR WORSE if 400 million Indians were expelled from India looking to land somewhere else. If we really don't want mass immigration then we better move past capitalism worldwide, because the crisis is capitalism and the solution is a social system revolution that is fundamentally oriented different than capitalism, based on people, bottom-up design, public health and happiness over GDP growth and capital accumulation in the hands of the few.
