Took part in the Kickstarter campaign and I'm very happy I did! Sound quality is absolutely awesome and build quality is just nice! What a great entry into that market by Tempotec!

Nicely Done. I can tell from the tone of the video that you enjoyed it more than the Ultra :) Glad to see another dap in the more affordable segment. It seems that adding the Hiby software was a smart move. I heard the Shanling offers a replaceable battery for the Ultra.

oh, please don't try to "read between lines", I'm just an amateur, so I have different moods, and sometimes I sound more optimistic just because of a tasty dinner or something similar :) Shanling is a strong competitor with lots of great features to offer

I didn't do A/B comparisons, but by memory it won't. V6 is a bit more neutral, but DX160 is still a pretty good sound offering

I dont uderstand the output ports. which outputs are for what and which output i have to take to driving my 3.5 unbalanced IEM ?

POs are for headphones ("phone out"), LOs are for external amplifier (Line Out). so, 3.5 unbalanced IEMs goes to 3.5 PO connector

I received a loaner unit yesterday. After a brief listening I have a mixed opinion, but it's too early for judging. But price here also makes upgrade really doubtful for me But new prices on SP2000 are superb for a new buyers I must admit

I agree, the prices for new sp2000 are now very good. Must admit my initial impressions of trying out a sp3000 weren’t entirely positive. Sound wise I think I prefer the sp2k

I have Fiio m15s which is powerfull accurate and neutral, Dony wm1am2 which is a little dark and warm, I'm looking for a cheaper DAP to use at work , which one do you suggest? Ibasso dx170 or tempotec v6 or shanling m3x ultra? Thank you

@PortaFi isn't AK chips warmer than ESS chips? I never had a dac or dap with AK chip on it so I dont really know how it sounds, I'm just saying what other people said about it, but ues I'm looking for a warm sounding more musical dap. Something like my Sony dap, so shanling is the way to go

@@xxsirxfuryxx6122 no it's not :) That's the point I support for many years: there is no "dark" chips, or "warm" chips, or "musical", etc. With virtually any DAC chip it's possible to make different types of sound with amplifier, clock, etc. I've heard warm sabres, analytical AKs, and many other things. So I usually evaluate device as a whole

Does anyone know how this would compare to the Fiio M7? My M7 still works but has a cracked screen, which is a bit of an eyesore. First time I've heard of Tempotec

To be honest, I don't remember M7 really well, but by memory, it's a more modern player, with better control, higher resolution, bigger stage. Not night and day difference, but noticeable

Really curious about FH15, i'm a bit of basshead and i've heard they're pretty bass heavy, also tomorrow i get my r5 gen 2 (more premium in my eyes than tempotec or even m3 ultra strictly about the sound here) therefore nice review though 👍

well, I need more time for experiments, as FH15 definitely seems to be on a warmer/bassier side of things, but with some filter/tips it's almost opposite

For me the best DAP tunings are comming from iBasso and Hidizs. Its a pitty Hidizs is just doing small DAP's but what they did with the AP80 is for me really impressive soundwise. I hope they will throw a more powerful DAP in Future. Cayin and Astell & Kern are also great and i just tested an N6 Pro and a SR25MK2 yet but it didnt catched me like iBasso or Hidizs with regards to to the natural sound tuning. Shanling/Hiby Q1/R3Pro Saber and M3K/M6 and Hiby were also not very special to my taste.. In Germany at HIFI Passion now you can get an iBasso DX170 for 399 Euro.The only thing i never tried is a FiiO Dap...this is something i need to try by chance...and currently i only have Daps with ESS and Cirrus Logic DAC's and i am very curious to try once a device with AK DAC...and this great review of yours may just showed me my next DAP with AK DAC..🙂

Well, some time ago Hidizs released their first model AP100, which become a pretty big hit in local communities, but received less enthusiasm worldwide. So, they definitely can do something bigger and more powerful it seems that you like neutral tuning, so if you'll have a chance, check out QLS361, it can fit your preferences in terms of sound as for DAC chips, pay no attention to that, only final sound is important, and DAC chips usually play a noticeably minor role in that. There are a bunch of players sharing one chip, and offering a really different sound (in the past, when CS DACs were popular it was even more noticeable)

@@PortaFi Thank you for the tip with QLS361..i like this sort of pure DAP without any wireless functions. If Hidizs would just release a DAP in the size of a DX170 once i would immediatley buy it...🙂. Its incredible but for some occasions i prefer the AP80 Pro over my DX160 just because it brings at some songs special details more prominent forward. And i used same IEM's at both so its definitley the DAP tuning. And how loud the AP80 can play is also amazing for its size. I take it always for jogging and running and then i noticed some notes at songs i didnt noticed with DX160...and it made the song more interesting as a whole...

bought it yesterday for 330 waiting for mine to arrive at Hungary from hifigo idk if that one included the case or not ... but in tempotec website for 330 u got free case..in hifigo uneed add 20 for the case

congratulations on your purchase! fun thing that they have this promo only on aliexpress, on the official site it's $370 for one with case, and there is no option now for casless and before the New Year, on AliExpress you'd have to pay $20 too. it's important to search for the best offers/price :)

@@alfarizi2179 unfortunately, there are no "earphones for vocal", as it's all a matter of subjective taste. In this price range I really like FiiO's FD5, but it's not a fact that you'll like them as much as I do :)

greetings, i am looking to buy my first DAP and considering between HibY R5 (gen 2) and TempoTec V6 could someone advice whats the difference in sound between the two. Since I will be using Moondrop Kato, 7hz Timeless to stream from Apple Music and listen to my library on PC which one would pair better with those iems. Also if somebody owns a TempoTec V6 can someone verify whether it can be used as an external DAC/AMP with Windows laptops and Android phones ? as i could not find any info on that feature or any response from TempoTec. Thank You

Hello, well, in this case choice is pretty simple. Tempotec is on a brighter side (making slight accent on highs), and R5-2 is opposite, slightly on the warmer side. So if we take for example Kato, which are also neutralish/brightis pair, do you want to boost their signature, or opposite, tame it down a bit? Tempotec V6 works as a DAC with Macbook, but I didn't check windows/smatrphones

@@PortaFi thank you for the reply, i want to tame it and make it warmer, i thought akm chips in V6 were more suitable for that purpose, is it the otherway round ? also i have two question 1) android on these daps are 8.0 so i am concerned that in future streaming apps may drop support for these, is this worry justified or its not a big deal ? 2) what is the sound difference between hiby r6 iii and fiio m11s incase i want an upgrade or alternative to these 2 ?

@@mrigankadeyMD sound isn't determined by DAC chip only, so it's possible to get a really different signatures with the same chips. 1. well, it's hard to predict when each particular streaming service will drop support for a particular android version. usually they aren't really into this, and try support old android versions for a long time. and even after discontinuation of Android 8, clients will work 2. if you'll decide to stretch your budget, consider Shanling M3 Ultra, as R6-III and M11S are both on a neutral side of things, and R6-3 is even brighter

a didn't test first AK70, but second revision was just "normal" in terms of sound and didn't aged well. So V6 is at least as good, and maybe in some aspects even better

I sold mine right away....unopened. TempoTec took too long shipping out to the people who crowdfunded, so I bought a Fiio M11 Plus. I wish I had played with it before I got rid of it.

people say lots of things, not all of them are true especially it's common in audio, where community always tries to find a new "giant killer" to hype for it for a couple of weeks and forget about it I'm not saying that V6 will be forgotten soon, it's a great DAP. but some things are a bit of exaggeration

Really depends what you're trying to drive, for me the phone runs single DD iems like crap, bass is super slow and vague, but it's fine for < 100 ohms earbuds. For planars, high impedance earbuds and such forget it, not enough power. I can use a dongle but it eats all the battery, don't like it.
