In Chapter 3: ‘The Message’ Otis Williams, Smokey Robinson, and Shelly Berger share their first-hand accounts making the “Sound of Young America” in a time when all odds were stacked against Black musicians. To celebrate the group’s 60th anniversary and their new album, The Temptations are excited to present the final episode in this three-part RU-vid documentary series.
‘Temptations 60’ is a brand new album of new songs from the No. 1 R&B group of all time, The Temptations. The album features tracks written and produced by Narada Michael Walden, hip-hop producer K. Sparks, longtime group member Ron Tyson, founding member Otis Williams, and the equally legendary Smokey Robinson, whose classic songs launched the group’s original hit streak.
‘Temptations 60,’ which features the single “Is It Gonna Be Yes Or No,” is available now.

Let me put it to you this way. Black people were proud of the Temptations, James Brown, Motown, Staxx, Atlantic, Aretha, Dionne, Sly, and anyone else who was successful and beautiful. We were all proud!

Very much enjoying this story of the Temptations. Thank you to Otis and everyone else involved in this project. Motown and the artists, including the Tempts, will always live on for the great music that the whole world loved. I too was a child of the 60s and this music was the BEST.🥰🥰

This is an excellent history, but, with all due respect, although Richard Street replaced baritone Paul Williams in the group, Richard was a natural first tenor, not a baritone. Richard's vocal contribution in the harmony lifted and lightened the background especially when matched with Damon's falsetto on top.

This chapter, makes you think more about the connection with music and what's happening in the real world, I can't imagine what everyone went through back then, and let's be honest are still going through it now, the music you guys and all of Motown produced was amazing, I'm 51 now, and I got into Motown when I was about 14, I wasn't listening to colour, I was listening to amazing music that made me want to move, want to cry, and want to sing out loud along with it.......and that's just what I done... Peace and Love ❤️🙏❤️

Always Insightful, Educational and Entertaining. I hope that Motown/Universal has the Hindsight, Insight and Forsight to produce a more detailed and comprehensive documentary about The Temptations while Dr. Otis Williams, Shelley Berger and Smokey Robinson are still here to tell their story. Something like these three episodes. Just longer. Especially now in real time.

Y’all should DEFINITELY do more videos like these …. They’re are probably SO many stories that need to be told. And a lot of the classic Motown family is no longer here…when somkey said “their was definitely some wild stories about back then” I truly believe him … because we have heard “their side of the story” in history books … but do you really expect them to say the whole Gods honest truth… nobody today with access to a smartphone or a computer is gonna believe only what a textbook says lol

These artist and many others brought use out of a great struggle a struggle that these young folk today would and could never understand. Most of them past way with just there fame. Which was more important then silver and gold. These young artist have cars that cost more then these guys whole career and no appreciation to the art of ENTERTAINMENT. THANK YOU TO ALL THE GREAT ONES Thanks for making the struggle a little lighter and the little sunshine you brought into our lives I think I can speak for all of us on that. Any time the Temps come near I buy a ticket are 2 even if I know I can't make the show just my way of saying thank you. The Ojays to LOL

Norman Whitfield's production style was genius and cut through the bullshit, rose-tinted glasses optimism of pop music in general. I was just listening to "Plastic Man" while mildly stoned the other night and it sounded incredible. "Masterpiece", "Law of the Land", and "Ball of Confusion" are masterpieces of arrangement and production. Whitfield's tracks were not only incredible to listen to but they set dance floors ablaze in the '70s as well. Motown avoided being too closely associated with disco but I guarantee you that "Law of the Land", both the versions by The Temptations and Undisputed Truth, were incendiary dance floor hits. I was there and you should've heard these tracks on a big sound system!
