So I'm glad I found your video. I have the same filter running an outdoor tub with rice fish in it. I had the exact same frustration with the overflow pipe. So I went to home Depot got some american fittings to fix it. But then after doing that I couldn't separate the top from the middle. So after seeing what you did and using the larger fitting on the bottom I just changed mine and now I can lift my top part off anytime. Dam why didn't I think of that. Big thank you! And I just subbed to your channel
@@razinfishes1918 Awesome!! We’re glad we could help. This has become one of our favorite filters. Since we made this, I do the top a little differently. I still use the black sponge, but on top of that we use the polyfill that comes in a thin sheet for quilt making and cut it into pieces about the size of the lid. You can make a ton of them for around 7 bucks or so. Buy it online or find it at Walmart. Every time it overflows, just swap it out. Easy peasy! Thanks for the sub. We really appreciate it. Hope you stop by our weekly livestreams on Mondays. Have a great day!
Thank you. This is a really nice filter. And a great value. But very lacking in instructions on assembly. So we thought, why not put something out that may help someone else. We saw it first on Joey Mullen's channel and it looked like such a cool concept. Very similar to the DIY tower I made based on his design. Him and I both agree, for the money you would spend buying all the parts, and time spent on building it, this filter is a no brainer. We want to get the large sized one and try it on our outdoor stock tank pond this year.
Just watched the video on the Temu filter.. I might have to buy one when I am done with filling my house with tanks. I have the shakes "Parkinson's" for me.. but I take it like a champ life is short
This filter seems to do the job, but you know me, I have to tweak everything. I'd drill small holes (very small for better pressure) on the outside edge of the spray bar to have additional water flow over more surface of the poly-fil. But that's just me. Great video. I loved watching it.
I thought the holes should have been more spread out. But I guess I could rotate the pipes. My worry about smaller holes is the possibility of clogging. I do think we need a larger pump though. We're glad you liked it Jimmy. ❤
I just set up the larger filter I bought on Temu. They do have a instructional video. I'm planning on using it on my outside pond for extra filtration.
Make a cilinder from a filter mat. Put an air stone at the bottom or a waterpump at the top. Done! The pump doesn't have to run 24/7 because the filtermaterial is constant in the water exposed to oxygen.
@@hagenhilldesign Point them downwards. You want to encourage the water to shower from tray 2 into tray 3, then through the biomedia, to the bottom of the tray, then up into the elbows before exiting. Currently, water showers in, then takes the path of least resistance bypassing a lot of the media. This runs the risk of the water not "filtering" properly/efficiently, and some stagnant spots where the water doesnt circulate.
There’s multiple sellers all selling the same thing. They take forever to get here. Mine is still sitting in a port in china and I ordered it(on accident) almost 2 weeks ago.
@@hagenhilldesign to be honest, the only liquor ive drank in years maybe decades is wild turkey 101 , I love it , just pour it on ice and drink....but I was drinking a 5th a night after work , every night for the past few years , so I quit one day back in November . I thought it would be hard , but it wasn't I have not had any alcohol since before thanksgiving.. just the $ money I saved is incredible ! and ive lost 30 pounds or so.
