Yes being quite a bit older than you, 74, I have lots of memories of the 5 and dime stores in my home town. My town was a medium sized city, so we had several. For quite awhile my allowance was a dime, then a quarter, so I could buy what I wanted pretty frequently at our stores. My kids definitely never had that luxury growing up in the '80s and '90s. Then $ stores were their go-to. I love that you buy books as gifts for kids. I do even for baby showers. Even if they have a registry, I always add a book in, too! I guess having been a teacher for 8 years, before staying home to raise my kids made me really aware of how important loving reading was to kids' success in school. So both my kids had plastic or cloth books in their cradles even from the time they came home from the hospital. And of course I read to them from early on, too. Neither of them ever cried at bedtime, and I like to think that's because they looked forward to looking at the book in their bed, once they could pick it up. And they both were early readers, and now at 35 and 43, they both still love to read! I'm sure your grandkids will, too! Loved all your Temu stuff, and can't wait to see it all in your yard! 😊
Oh yes I get them books a lot. My kids read to them every night before bed. It's a regular routine for them. I hope you are having a good week Charlotte
Glad you got to visit you kids and grands! It’s so good that you read to them. My four granddaughters love to read. For a treat, I will take them to a bookstore to pick out a book they want.
Hi Roxanne. Great haul. I need a new swim suit but hate buying them. lol. It’s been hot here 109 on Wednesday. But yes Arizona is even worse. I hate to visit my brother in Arizona in the summer.
109 is still pretty hot Patti. I don't think I'll ever get used to the heat. Try looking on Temu for the swim suit. I haven't been disappointed yet. Have a great day
Just heard on ABC news about the wildfires near Phoenix. Couldn't find anything definitive on Google about your safety. But one thing indicated about 69 miles from Sun City? Do stay safe!! I'll be thinking about you!!
