The chin strap's proximity to the hyoid bone and the soft tissues of the neck means you can be garroted. The idea of a release is similar to a skier's boot release, it releases before you tear the ligaments in your leg during a fall. The magic point is to hold for the minor stresses, but release before your body parts get torn. Falling forward and having the chin piece engage the ground is a problem. Preventing road rash on your jaw is moot if you get garroted by the strap holding too well. If the strap releases after the engagement, then the chin piece is still between your chin and the ground, You can still break your jaw, but you won't need the services of a plastic surgeon. It appears that the helmet may have been designed with medical input and revised by over cautious lawyers.
My question is. Legit helmet in the shops. Where are they getting them from and can we buy those cheaper online and still be safe or are they copies of the original.
😊 dude, that's horrible. Thanks for the video. Ironically, people have been considering helmets from overseas in this video should stop most of us searching. We appreciate you doing the research and sorry for your purchase. Hopefully you got your money back.
Be aware the overall size of the helmet is actually quite small. Even on a bike ride....if you crash...you will likely lose your chin. Apart from that and the faulty chin strap...you'll look good as they roll you into A&E with your helmet on :D
