I am a proponent of working bullseyes because we need to show progress in our training. Therefore, we should be able to demonstrate with something like 10 shot, 100 point, bullseye shooting. I created a simple bullseye drill that focuses on sight alignment and trigger control with scoring so we can measure our progress.

I love how when you tell people to shoot a string of slow fire, they shoot it like it's timed or rapid.
@herknorth8691
@herknorth8691 2 года назад
When ten other people are shooting slowly, it kinda sounds like rapid fire. It's easy to get sucked into the moment and think you ought to be shooting faster.

The pressure of “dudes watching dudes.” Amazing how many dudes just get ate the fuck up by the idea that they’re not keeping up with someone else on the line.

@@Dagger4 If the guy next to you is giving a shit about how you're shooting, he isn't paying enough attention to his sights and trigger control. If you're thinking about whether or not he gives a shit, you aren't paying enough attention to yours.

I remember this drill from a class I did with Pat a few years ago, bullseye is often overlooked in training but the benefits of incorporating it is invaluable

That’s cool that you got to train with him. I was infantry for 10 years so I’m very comfortable with AR platform but having a harder time with pistol now. Im comfortable handling it, but not fast, accurate, or efficient with one. My buddies don’t understand why I want to tighten my shot group so much. Basically, if they’re in the silhouette, then it’s good enough for them. Isn’t that a sub par mentality?
@richardsonprecisiontrainin8365
@richardsonprecisiontrainin8365 2 года назад
@@chief5981 i look at it this way, most silhouette targets are pretty big but unfortunately people come in all different shapes and sizes so the mentality of keeping it on paper isn’t really practical. With everything that you have to deal with in a self defense situation being more accurate is a huge bonus, cause you’ll revert back to your lowest form of training under stress and for a CCW holder who might have defend themselves in a place with lots of other people etc, that silhouette mentality is a recipe for something bad happening like stray rounds going all over the place and possibly hitting an innocent bystander. That’s why doing drills like this are so important in the long run

Pat - Thanks for posting. Many people don't make the connection between bullseye shooting and combat shooting. Bullseye is a great vehicle to learn the fundamentals of marksmanship because it allows you to break them down and focus on each one. Once you can shoot 80+% consistantly on slow fire, move on to timed (2 strings of 5, each string in 20 seconds) fire and rapid (2 strings of 5, each string in 10 seconds) fire. Once you can shoot a 240/300 aggragate or better consistantly, you'll find your combat scores will be higher and your groups will be much tighter. Bullseye is not the be all to end all, but it's a great way to learn the fundamentals or to shoot occasionally if your groups get sloppy.

Great drill - improvement means over time we must be able to measure progress. Noting this is a perishable skill, it is important to regularly practice. Performance based training! Love this series of videos.

You never shoot bullseye with two hands grip. No international competition allows it.
