I got a Weber 22 in. Performer Deluxe Charcoal Grill in July of 2021. I have almost had it for one year now. I chose the Copper version, this grill is also available in Crate Barrel Slate Blue, Crimson, Green, and classic black. I have always loved the Weber Kettle charcoal grills. These grills aren't cheep. I bought mine last year for $459. This thing has gone up $100 since then. So yeah I feel like I got a real bargain.
ACE Hardware Product Description:
With a push of a button, the coals are lit, and the essence of BBQ fills the air. The Performer® Deluxe charcoal grill performs from beginning to end. Light coals with the Touch-N-Go gas ignition, prep food on the large work table, and know that cleanup will be easy with the One-Touch™ cleaning system. All that’s left is to sit back and enjoy the performance.

If you want a challenge, try assembling one of these grills ru-vid.comUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I am a technician by trade and the technical instructions were easy to follow. No reading, just pictures and diagrams. You assemble everything in 5 steps from the bottom up. Step #1 - Assemble 4 Legs and Wheels; Step #2 - Add the Front Cover and Cross Bars to support the frame; Step #3- Assemble the Burner to the Lower Grill Housing and install the knobs; Step #4 - Install the Side Burner and side shelf; and Finally Step #5 - Install the Upper Char- Broil Lid, Cooking Racks, 3 Burner Railings and Lid Handle. That's It and you're done in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. You have the option to pay for assembly after making the purchase - I would strongly suggest that you take it if you don't want to be bothered with this challenge. The only tool I used was a Phillips head screwdriver and a standard pair of pliers. The grill cost a little more because of the side burner, but this is what makes the grill so versatile and popular among backyard grillers. Have fun and enjoy!

Ive had mine since 2012 (got off Craigslist for $125) I've always kept ot covered and it still looks nearly new. How do you define deep clean? I've just always kept up with a grill brush and wipe it down with every use (nearly anyway).

I got my Performer Deluxe Grill at ACE too. I still use the chimney though to start my coals. I put the chimney over the gas outlet with the charcoal in it, fire it up and let it get the coals nice and ready to go. Then just poor them into the grill. I just love that gas starter. Makes it so easy. It's nice a sturdy, rolls easy when I want to move to a different location. The table is great. I can layout all my food and utensils right there for easy access. It's an excellent grill.

I bought a replacement one today😊 for my very well used one that I owned for over 20 years. I had made other repairs to my old one over the years, but the gas valve quit working properly. I’m not a fan of explosions, so I decided it was finely time to retire it. Didn’t even consider another model. LOVE this grill and can’t wait to get my new one! Worth every penny of the cost!

Had mine since early 2006. Just put a replacement work-table on it (old one was the composite plastic type that had cracked a decade ago) and added a cast iron bottom coal-grate. Re: the gas starter - you don't need to run it nearly that long (save your tank). I only run it maybe 3 to 5 minutes at most until the bottom coals catch. The it'll keep goin just fine without the burner running until they're ready to cook on. Fantastic little grill.

I live in a condo development and when my next door neighbor moved they gave me an almost new Weber Performance Deluxe Grill. It's a 2019 model so it doesn't have the timer any more just the gas starter but everything else is just like yours. I hadn't done any grilling in over 3 years as the little kettle grill I had was junk and there were some yard obstacles that needed removing Once that had been done, it was on to the grilling; first up, a 2.7 pound Tri-Tip...cooked to perfection. Once again Weber brings home a winner...
@ThatHobby
@ThatHobby 2 года назад
Awesome yeah I love it! I thought I got a good deal but wow you really scored on this one. That timer is real convenient but a replacement timer can be a bit pricy especially when you can just set a timer on your phone and spend that money on some more Tri-Tips.

Nice video on your grill. I have the Weber Performer with the folding table. I've had it probably seven years now. It sits on my deck all year round, but I protect it with a cover since I live in the PNW. I highly recommend a cover if you get any kind of damp, wet, cold weather for any long stretch of winter. No joke, that pricey cover has kept my kettle looking almost new. I grill at least 4 times a week spring to fall. My Performer has been solid for grilling and smoking. I'm contemplating stepping up to a Summit Kamado, but that's some serious cash on an upgrade level. So, if I were to upgrade to a Performer Premium (like yours), I would do so because it has those additional smoking guides on the sweep handle and bottom kettle. Those little half moons added to your kettle model are for low and slow cooks for pork butts or brisket!! You have to try that on your model because low and slow cooks is why Weber added them to your model. Check out America's Test Kitchen for an episode on how to cook a Texas style brisket on a Weber 22 kettle with Kingsford charcoals. I tried it and it really worked. Amazing what our kettles can do with some great recipes. So those expanded vent slots on your model are the biggest bonus of all in my book. That and the gas ignitor. Oh wait, I just realized those are your Sharpie marks for vent position like I do. For a minute there I thought Weber wised up and made that an upgrade. Oh well, my bad. Another reason I would upgrade to your model is that much larger table. What a great bonus to have that added real estate to work with for digital thermometers, large proteins, cookware. IMO, dollar for dollar, your grill is the best of all worlds. You made a great decision going with this Weber model. I think I'll wait for a 4th of July sale-crossing fingers a sale happens.
@ThatHobby
@ThatHobby 2 года назад
Thanks I also need to get a cover to protect my grill. Yeah I love the table but it will get real dirty from the dust we get out here especially if I don't clean the grease off it after grilling. So a little clean up and a nice cover is the way to go. A brisket sounds like a great idea too. Good luck on the 4th of July sale. FYI if you join ACE hardware's rewards program you can get some good discounts on big ticket items.

After many years with Weber kettles, I bought a Kamado. Then, the snow collapsed my deck and broke my expensive Kamado. I replaced it with the Weber Performer with the folding table. There is nothing you can't do on a Webber Kettle. The Kamado worked well, too. It wasn't worth the cost to replace. I'll stick with tried and true Webber.
@ThatHobby
@ThatHobby Год назад
That's a bummer about your Kamado but yeah that is the real question if something happened to something you like would you get a new one or something else. I do like the way the Kamado looks though. That thing looks pretty cool. The Webber with the folding table looks pretty nice too.
@grizzleypeak
@grizzleypeak Год назад
@@ThatHobby TBH, the Kamado wasn't worth the money. The best part about it was it held temp better especially in cold weather. Otherwise, the Webber can smoke or sear anything, and holds temp just fine if you are paying attention to it. It is easier to move around, more durable and much cheaper.
@stevenbrz

thanks for telling us what the timer is for, I was completely lost when I inherited this grill
@ThatHobby
@ThatHobby Год назад
Yeah the timer is really useful. I set it for 1 or 2 min to sear the meat over the coals. Then I put the meat off to the side of the coals and set the timer for 2 minutes and flip it 3 or 4 more times. I got the timing down pretty good to cook the meat on here just how I like it.

Yeah the table is so nice to have. That really could be number one. Some people say they don't like the grate because it is hard to clean but it is really nice to be able to open it up and add some more coals. I don't know how I grilled without the ash catcher. It's so much easier to clean the ashes out with this thing. So yeah that is a great top 3 list.

I just got this. What do i do with the disposable drip pan? Do i keep it or put it away? Also the char baskets are worth using? Some of my friends just remove them and put charcoal all over the bottom like normal ways
@ThatHobby
@ThatHobby Год назад
I don't remember getting a disposable drip pan? They sell them for $10 and they look pretty useful. As for the char baskets I like to use them. I put them in the middle of the grill to sear my meat. Then I move the meat over to sides were there are no coals to let it finish cooking. The char baskets seem to keep the coals contained were I want them. It just depends how you like to cook. The gas start puts a flam up in the middle of the grill so that's were I put the char baskets.

May be moot but does the kettle's color affect the grilling dynamic? Not only am I contemplating a Weber Performer Deluxe but I'm drawn to the bronze kettle, too.
@ThatHobby
@ThatHobby 9 месяцев назад
I don't think the color affects the grilling dynamic. My old grill was black and the bronze seems to grill just as good plus it's a lot nicer than my old grill with the table and all the extras. I chose the bronze because I wanted something that looked new and shiny. They also have green too. So you can get a few color choices.

Yes the food tastes similar. The gas flame doesn't taint the bricks like lighter fluid. Its just a flame that heats the bricks and once they start to get hot you turn off the gas. They do sell this same grill without the gas start if you prefer using a chimney.

If you like Weber grills they have some bigger ones. The Weber Original Kettle Premium 26 inch Charcoal Grill is $429. They also have 37 inch Ranch Charcoal Kettle Grill, but it's $1,800 bucks. 2 grills my be a more economical option. I kept my old Weber grill and will be fixing it up. So when I need to cook for a lot of people I will have some more grill space. I want to add the removable grates, the thermometer, the ash can holder and the rolling lid holder to my old grill. That would be a fun project. Good luck with finding a new grill. Let me know what you end up getting.

I have the same grill, same color and I love the thing. I've had it for 5-6 years now so it was pretty beat up. Ignition system failed, bottom grate was seriously warped where the burners are, the top temp adjust was warped and finally the top handle came off of the top. I was about to buy another one but instead I purchased replacement parts from weber and took it completely apart, cleaned it up (nasty job but worth it) fixed what was broken and reassembled.
