I’ve made several archer shirts and never used more than one and a half metres and I’m the same size as you. It’s a fabulous pattern.

In a vest geek. Quilted, non quilted, woven, knit, lined, unlined, fleece. Zipper, snaps, buttons. You name it. It's the first section I beeline to in a thrift store. I have no idea why.... But I have tooooo many for sure. I've actually got four in my winter plans. Both views of the Acorn by Love notions. made this pattern a few times. There's also a child version that I'm making for gkids for xmas. And a mens. Had plans for the Wildwood from Helen's closet for awhile. I've got a very wierd piece of quilted fabric that needs to be made into this. I've snagged a few quilted thrifted ones that I've removed the sleeves, added zippers to the sleeve and opening thereby can be worn as jacket or vest. This was very easy to do. The plan for the Wildwood is to sew it up with zippered sleeves. The only thing keeping it on the "to-do", list.... Is all the binding involved. Gahhhh Im leaning towards sewing it up with exposed seams on the outside, for something different. It's for my adult daughter and she's not very open to weird like I am bahaha

some really lovely plans. The new craft house have a free gilet pattern should the shacket bodice be a bit too oversized. I love the kaia coatigan , which is actually a knit blazer, just makes it a bit more casual and cross between a cardigan and a blazer, I want one in every colour. My favourite ones I have made were in boucle from Poun d fabrics, the texture looked really good, and is super comfortable

I made the SOI Amelia and love it . Used a wool fabric and a cotton lawn lining. A great pattern.

Hi Sally. I’ve made the SOI Amelia jacket before in a fine cord and it’s super cute. This winter I have resolved to make up as many of the G&G kits as i can. I’m ashamed to say I have far too many I just haven’t got round to doing yet. So no more buying for me until I have cracked some of those! Diana

I was going to say that the amount of fabric is always for the largest possible size on any pattern and I never go by what they say. I buy the pattern and cut out the pieces and set them out on a bit of fabric to use the least amount and then buy the amount I need. I am sure you have bought too much in the past too 🤣 Love your plans and I hope to make some sort of jacket this autumn and need a few heavier dresses for work along with a gilet as I am always cold 🥶 I knit a slipover and promptly gave it away as I didn’t like it but must try another one. I like a v neckline. if you are doing a sew along do the Archer please ❤

That’s such a good idea and not a method I’d thought to use before! I have bought too much in the past but I’m also guilty of thinking I can get something that requires 3 metres out of a 2 metre remnant and being disappointed haha x

I have plans to make the Allie Olson Monarch Jacket (bomber) in a red ponte. Really nice. Also, I am trying to figure out which pattern to make a jacket from pre-quilted fabric I have. I was thinking maybe the Ilford Jacket. I have made four Heather blazers to date: navy blue, black and white herringbone, beige linen, and magenta houndstooth! I shortened the pattern to sit at bottom of hips and really like the casual yet smart style. I would love to knit but can’t seem to get past the casting on phase - too tight. 😳 Happy sewing…

I've made the sewoverit Amelia 3 times, i really like it. The lining works well and it's not hard. It is super cropped. I think sewoverit have just updated the pattern and instructions to their new style

@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress I'm 6ft so a bit different to you i think! I have added length to make it sit on my waist or just below, i think i added 3-4 inches but i have a very long body. Just check the back of neck measurement. Also you use an exposed zip and I've never been good at altering them so I've ended up making the length match the zip that i ended up with

For me, (I’m 5’4”) I found the Archer very long and had to shorten it quite a bit. Also didn’t use as much fabric as suggested on the pattern.

Your plans are very interesting. I am moving into Spring/Summer. My plans are to do a few summer dresses. 1 from Vogue with an American cotton my sister gave me. 1 from Simplicity in a gingham check linen I got on sale. But I am very interested in Jacket making as my puffer jacket sort of went Kaput in winter. So I am interested in the Ilford or the bomber. What types of fabric do you think you will use?

Super video and great plans. I love your Whitmoor cardigan. Wish I could knit! I’m planning a cord skirt and also the Nina Lee Carnaby dress as a pinafore (without the pockets) also in corduroy. Have you seen any nice cord. Higgs and Higgs and Sherwood fabrics have some but I don’t know what it is like. I think cord fabric has to be good quality. What do you think?

A really great video Sally, thank you. I have made the Cozi jacket twice, it is a great pattern. I have also made the Tamarack Jacket in a quilted fabric which is self lined with sherpa, very cozy. I know you have made a few Whitmoor Cardigans Sally and very lovely they are too. I am currently making the jumper form. I amhavibg a real problem with the sizing. The brackets on the size section don't seem to match up with sizing on the written instructions? Any advice would be very gratefully received. Many thanks.
