I think it says a lot about the impact that Alvin Lee had that the band continues to play the songs he is remembered for. Modern guitarists are technically a lot farther along in these days. One thing about Alvin, He was a rock and roll machine. True grit on the guitar. Don't think there will ever be another like him.
I've always been a big fan of TYA. I've also always been a big fan of Alvin Lee, but it's good to see these guys out there. The band was more than Alvin Lee with a back up band. The rest of the band was always up there.
So many gone but music lives on ! Great job ! If we look at all the bands who have members gone there would not be many classics bands left to see ! Brad Delp.molly hatchet and yes most of skynyrd are gone to . But the music for the fans lives on .
Ten Years After is probably my favorite band of all time. I’m glad I got to see them with Alvin in 1990. And I’m damn glad to see the guys are still playing. I gotta say Joe Gooch has done a fantastic job with the band. However I can’t say that I’ve been impressed with TYA when Marcus Benfati and Colin Hotchkinson replaced Leo and Joe. Benfati seems to butcher every song he plays.
How is it possible that in 2013, Leo Lyons & Joe Gooch are credited as "Ten years After" knowing that since 2011, they have become "Hundred Seventy Split"?
New generations need to hear that this bands music is true classics ! I don,t want my 17 month old later asking me who was jimmy Hendrix! As my sons middle named after Hendrix middle name Marshall ! Even many that are still around .who can,t do the job anymore ! Members change ! Not alawys better but get by to make some bands whole again !
I dont like all idiots who say that a band like Ten Years After not should play on after the leader is gone to junkie heaven. I think Ten Years After is so much the other three, and this new guy is so fantastic. Alvin Lees "Ten Years Later" with oter bassist and drummer very much shit compared to this.
+Håkan Nilsson you are a fcuking idiot man Alvin Lee died after a routine operation went wrong in a spanish Hospital,he did not OD..you are a frikkin fool.Respect his passing,he made the original lineup what is was ,special..bah your a peasent
+Ironjack53 Håkan didn't say he OD'ed. He just that AL went to junkie heaven. That could even be music junkie, or singing junkie, rock&roll junkie and yes it might be drugs junkie (am I wrong?). So next time don't be this hasty leaving a rude comment.
JohnAllanification Leo Lyons, you got that right. How about Chick Churchill on keyboards? Didn't recognise? Nor Ric Lee on drums? And the guy with "a voice like Alvin" has been in the band for more than 10 years. So looking at all the comment here I would say: If only Alvin Lee is missing (for a good reason) from the original band, how come you all didn't notice?
+valerie lonn Because 3/4 of the original setting were still alive and kickin'! Actually Gooch and Lyons have left TYA in the meantime. So now you have a credit.
