Alvin Lee individually, and TYA collectively, were criminally underrated and underappreciated as a singer/songwriter and...guitarist. I personally think he's a top ten classic rock guitarist, but I have yet to see him ever mentioned in that context.
What's insane is that Leo Lyons, the original bassist in TYA, lives just round the corner from me in a suburb of Cardiff, and I see him now and again in the local post office etc. My wife knew I was a fan, and when I told her who he was, she contrived to get him to sign a TYA album for me. What a small world!
@@joeemick1891 If you read my post correctly I said, "...Leo Lyons, the ORIGINAL bassist in TYA..." (my emphasis). In other words, I wasn't saying this guy is LL, I was merely commenting that the ORIGINAL bassist lives around the corner from me. Happy now?
@@alanknott363 I agree I saw Alvin Lee a few years before his death I have a been since. If this version of TYA or anything with Leo Lyons did a show local to me I would book tickets.
Great video work right here! I would dig these guys live, if only to see and hear Ric Lee on drums! Chick on keys is good too. I don't know this lefty bass player, but, God bless him, he's still rockin'! And, not in a nursing home either! Guitar guy doing a great job on these songs.
Leo Lyons had a LOT of energy in his playing and stage presence, unlike this guy. His bass playing on "Love Like a Man" during the guitar solo is not even close to Leo Lyon's great bass lines on the song. I understand wanting to be original and all, but man that bass line is way too sparce and boring. Anyone agree?
@@gclarke180 That's great. Ric's brother John was my Dad's best man. We visited their Mum for afternoon tea in about 1964 and a young Ric kindly allowed me to play his drums.
Agreed... Ric was a very Good Drummer for sure. On Time at every moment. Listen to his Solo - The Hobbit on the Live at The Fillmore East LP . If you are really into TYA - like me- read Ric's Book: From Headstocks to Woodstock.

Unfortunately, like so many originally performed songs, phony Cove bands - just don't Cut It. It appears to me that Ric Lee can't Let Go. I do admire him trying to have TYA Live On, but there just is no replacement for Alvin Lee - may he R.I. P. TYA was one of my All Time Favorite Bands ever. They should have been Inducted into the Hall Of Fame years ago, based on their Performance at Woodstock [1969] Alone. Treat yourselves - Listen to TYA Live at The Fillmore East (1970 or 1971). Listen to the Synergy of Leo Lyons and Alvin Lee.

I think we must be happy to hear the Songs from TYA live at a Festival. Alvin Lee was the master thats sure. Joe Gooch is also a great musician. Its ok for me. Next year they'll play near my hometown with other bands.

The Experience without Jimi . Rory Gallagher band without Rory . TenYears After without Alvin . This is a cynical attempt to make money from a band that should have been laid to rest when Mr . Lee died . He was the band , without him it is'nt TYA .
It must suck to copy somebody else's music every day instead of developing their own. These guys stink and they shouldn't be allowed to carry the name.
You hit the nail right on the head. I've always said the same thing,which I think is blatantly obvious. Just call it what it is. " a tribute to Alvin Lee and ten years after,featuring some of the original members. And this should go for all of em. Just a side note. This guitar player doesn't capture the spirit of Alvin.Nor could he hold a candle to him.
Unfortunately you have no Idea. Do you actually know how many Times Alvin left the Band? Often for Years, he would go solo and only play TYA Songs. I saw that once. It was just as sad. I missed Leo, Chick and Ric so much.
