You know that awesome moment when you want to learn a song, then go on youtube and find a video of the guitarist from the band teaching the song? I just had that.

Kones doesn't really get enough spotlight either IMO he's one of the best electric guitarist to ever walk this earth and a huge majority of people don't even know that he's in Tenacious D.
Does anyone know what tuning KG was in? I'm currently learning his solo. ik he's probs in E standard but some of the stuff he's playing doesn't sound right even though I'm playing it the exact same way 😭
If you're playing it by yourself and you want to do the little sliding riff, what I usually do is to keep the D shape you were just playing and bring it up to the 5th then the 7th frets. If you have a second guitar just do it his way. It sounds better but it's important to be able to do these little things in the solo version sometimes.
@Devil717 Jabbles doesn't really roll with guitarings. Which is good though. Yeah, we all love JB, but, there's two testicals to this band. KG never really gets his spotlight. He's under appreciated. KG if ya ever read this, just know we love you! There would be no D without you! You rock!
I love how they are trying to explain music theory concepts using non-technical terms. I think it's hilarious because they mind up just using technical terms in the end. Oh inversions, how you fool so many a first year student. KG is such a musician.
@FatalPivots You think how it was like when there were no tabs on the web, and all musicians had to figure out everything by ear.. If you don't give up, you will see big progress... Just try and try all the time.
pretty easy? i don't (am working on) knowing immediately what the inversion is. maybe i am spoiled...marty is so good at laying it out fast enough for me not to get bored, yet slow enough for me to not get frustrated. I find myself having to pause and replay these video's a thousand times to put it all together. but i am nowhere near where i should be with theory/chord structure/progressions so i guess this is a wake-up call (i bet my terminology shows my ignorance)
their drummer Dave Grohl? As in Dave Grohl from Nirvana and the lead singer of the Foo Fighters? what's the back story to that when did he ever play with Dave Grohl
I like lessons but these are more about the songs than the actually teaching, you cant see what notes your holding very clearly, i prefer tabs to this.
He has a good point though, this is a pretty poor tutorial for beginners and anyone more advanced could just read a tab, not really sure who this video is for.
