What was the pound test curve rods used for the tench?😃

There’s no definitive answer to that question really. Most anglers in this video would have used 1.75 tc rods I think as they cast 2-3oz feeders up to 80 yards with relative ease and that’s all that is needed on this lake, but it really depends on the fishing situation you are faced with. If you want to fish heavier feeders at longer range (+80 yards) you are probably better off using a +2lb tc rod as it will help with casting. If you are fishing close in with light leads or feeders a 1.5 tc rod would be fine unless the lake is particularly weedy or if there is a chance of hooking large carp when again a heavier tc rod would be useful.

@@TenchfishersTV I completely understand there is no one answer, I was just curious. I currently have a set of 1lb test curve rods and the lakes I fish I'm not casting more then 50yards at the maximum, some are weedy but the majority are not. Do you think the 1lb are to light? The tench in one of the lakes go up to 11lb and the carp to 30lb.

@@connorcgs 1lb tc seems a bit light given that there is a chance of hooking a 30lb carp or having fish fighting hard to get into weedbeds. You might be able to eventually land a big carp on a light but balanced set up like that but it would be easier and therefore quicker to land a larger fish like that with a more powerful rod and that would be better for the fish and for the swim (a carp charging around your swim as you struggle to land it on light tackle would likely ruin your fishing for some time too). If it was me I would use a 1.75 tc rod as I would like the power available to me in case I hook one of the big carp (or indeed an 11lb tench!!!) but a 1.5 tc rod would still be a better option that the 1lb tc that you currently use.

@@TenchfishersTV thank you very much for your help and advice I think I'd probably go for the 1.5lb purely because I do a lot of smaller species fishing such as roach, perch and cruican. Will the 1.5lb be too heavy for this even when I use a float? Thanks again for the advice it's much appreciated 👍

@@connorcgs a 1.5tc would be okay I guess but if you are keeping your 1lb tc rods I’d use those for roach and perch
