"Tenchu: Stealth Assassins" is a PlayStation game developed by Acquire and published by Sony Music/Activision in 1998. The game's soundtrack was composed by Noriyuki Asakura.
i heard *Activision* sold tenchu to *From Software* in 2004 and the only tenchu product made for U.S. by From Software since then was TFatal Shadows. Then Ownership switched to *Sega*, Time of the Assassin (which isn't that bad of a game but it's not that good in my opinion.) and last but not least *Microsoft* published Tenchu Z for XBOX 360 only :/
Ceneoss Animations We need a new tenchu, what's the point of holding the rights to a game if you are never going to make a new version of it ?. I'M LOOKING AT YOU FROM SOFTWARE!!!.
I'm so lucky to have played this game as a kid. I had never played a stealth game like this before, it was completely new to me and I was blown away by every aspect of the game. The grappling and having the freedom to roam around on roof tops was just amazing to me. The combat felt brutal and seeing the blood splatter everywhere after a stealth kill would leave 12 year old me in awe. I knew it was a game that probably wasn't for kids, but that just made the game even more enticing to play. Lastly, this beautiful masterpiece of a soundtrack will forever be in my head. And it's even better when it becomes a time machine that makes me relive moments of my childhood just by listening to it.
I had childhood memories with this game too, it was very engaging and the stealth combat in this made it fun while also unique compared to Metal Gear.🔥 Love the music too.🎶😎
I just ran through them like a thug because I read the healing code on a magazine and memorized it, lol back, back, down, down, square, square, triangle, square and presto! you're 100% healed, lol
This might sound weird but after we would go eat hibachi at Ichiban back in the 90s and I would see the Hibachi chef throwing the knives around and shit I would go play this at night man on ps1 me and my best friend at the time Alex would take turns playing it
@thegreatachiever4651 sorry but i was a PC player too busy playing Thief: The Dark project. Music this awesome would have been distracting. Welcome, but distracting
@@noctissama3146 sekiro is cool an all but it ain’t no Tenchu. Ghost was fucking raw tho! You can tell they definitely borrowed from the original PlayStation ninja. The dude who made Tenchu said he wants to make a spiritual successor on ps5. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I just can't get over this song... I remember when I first bought Tenchu, i was like "this is the sickest fucking game EVER!!" This music literally sends chills throughout my body... I miss the golden age of games like this.
I'm gonna necropost and I don't give a fuck - SAME bro, back then games were revolutionizing something all the time, not trying to copy one another. The PS1 era let composers go buck wild with CD quality audio to complement the gameplay. What a masterpiece Tenchu was.
Then after spotting a deadly assassin and losing him, a few minutes later go back to their pattern patrolling without alerting the other guards and their superiors. Gotta love old school gaming. 😂😂
Holy shit! This music has been stuck in my head for literally 13 years and I couldn't remember where it came from until just now! I'm so happy to has finally found it again! Lol love this game
What this game taught me: Remember, a Ninja lives by stealth and cunning Avoid the main gate Use the grapline hook (Shiaaat, I still use those bits of wisdom everyday man! :) )
Played this game when I was 12 years old. That string section at 1:35 instantly transports me back to that time, skittering across a hip and gable roof, tossing poison rice cakes to my enemies below.
I love this song!! with jazz like ambience and that guitar picking drives me wild!! violin, biwa and that bassline!! But it is really the vocals in this song that I love!!
This is such a classic ps1 game track for me. Instantly taken back to when I first played it. I rented the game and was in love. I'm taken right back to 17 years old when the ps1 was at its best to me. God, I wish I was back there.
I remember playing this as a kid because my Dad kept his PS1 with him and introduced me to videogames at a young age. Tenchu was one of the last games in the stack of 52 PS1 games he had and I'm glad I picked it up and still have it in my box full of games.
Brings back memories. I played the heck out of this game, Bushido Blade 1 & 2 and Soul Blade in between playing FF7, Legend of Dragoon,Metal Gear Solid and Armored Core
Remember grabbing the game and judging it by the boxart? WE ALL KNEW , that Tenchu cover was very attractive... RED, a menacing ninja... and a big word any kid would understand around the world "Assassin" Remember the 1st stealth kill? I will never forget it... that camera interaction was something new in that times. THey even thought in different angles... what a great game
I end up wandering to at least a few of these songs almost daily when I'm out on a walk. I am so grateful such a cool soundtrack came from what ended up being one of my most favorite games growing up.
This was the first game I ever bought with my own money. I remember giving the money to my brother and he picked it up for me at Software ETC., I was anxious to get home from school and when I finally did, it was like the best moment ever in my teenage years. Well, besides the time I lost my virginity but close enough, damn it.
i'm still having that track in my head from time to time since the last time i played that game, like 15 years ago ! it's crazy ! needless to say it's one of the best soundtrack ever !
i played this on PSX when i was 8 or 6...now im 19 and remembered an image of a guy with gray hair with a katana using some kind of a grapple hook and walking above the roof. After I remembered the name of the game the next thing I did was to download the iso and play it on th psx emulator...man I felt so happy that day, when I replayed this game ^^
This song is so hugely nostalgic to me. Every time I hear it I think of watching my dad playing, sneaking on rooftops with a pitch black background. Also 'MY MONEYYYYY!!!'
I love the fact that when you approach him with female char hes hostile and full of spite but when you go as male char hes more calm and honorable and even feels sorry for what he did lol
It doesn´t surprises me that this old japanese style music sounds so good. Noriyuki Asakura composed this soundtrack, the same guy who composed Rurouni Kenshin music :)
while holding L1 and R2, press up and triangle, down and x, left and square, right and circle. Release grip from L1 and R2 press all top buttons and presto!!!! full cheat mode!!!
Sinister Steel, Wrath of Heaven was pretty pointless to me. Basically a rehash of this one. It was good that you could switch the voice acting to Japanese though.
Sorry for being 9 months late to this comment, but I felt Wrath of Heaven was superior for the fact that the controls are not confined to the PS1 d-pad.
> 13years old > play in rich friend house > friend had ps one > insert bootleg copy of tenchu > menu and button instruction are in Japanese > both me and friend confuse > level start > somehow manage to beat the evil merchant > pressing random button after statistic > somehow the level restart again > repeat the level for hundred time > have fun nonetheless > till Uni, both me and my friend still think tenchu game only have one level
god bless the man who created this atemporal piece of art and the whole musical team of singers and instrumentallists behind it as of the recording team and investor for this project. amen.
Wealth is one thing, power and status is another. Many in the merchant class have become rich, but the merchant class is a large step below nobility. Merchants, no matter how wealthy, cannot become samurai. This caused many merchants to lust for the power that they were officially denied. Few more so than a man named Echigoya. Echigoya began his career as an honest trader, but before long his rivals began to turn up dead and Echigoya expanded into protection, loansharking, and gambling. His methods were brutal, his profit fast. If arrested Echigoya would simply bribe his way free. You must make him pay for his crimes...with his life.
