Tenchu: Stealth Assassins [USA] (Rikimaru Playthrough)

This game for some reason terrified me as kid. Not in a bad way, it actually made the game more fun. Just the fact you can't see more than 20ft ahead of you, the dark, empty streets until you see a vicious dog coming after you. I had a blast with this game at age 7, even though I couldn't get through I believe the 3rd chapter

I never realized how hilarious Tenchu 1's voice acting was, until now.

True nostalgia. I remember being so fascinated with the thought of a game about ninja's. There was no other game like it at the time. The good ole' days. Kids today just don't know.

"You are brave, but foolish. You will die." is probably the best spoken line in the game. Onikage is such a cool antagonist.

My childhood was amazing and I'm thankful for that experience. I'm about to turn 30 and I still feel like I'm the same kid at heart

"Infiltrate the Manji Cult" was such a scary mission as a kid. The crying baby with the background music and those weird walking, fire spitting creatures freaked the fuck outta me.

I came here after playing Ghost of Tsushima. I can't stop getting vibes of this game while playing it, and it triggered a bunch of memories of playing Tenchu at a friend's house a lot as a little kid. :)

The Father of Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, the stealth, the one hit deathblows, the grappling hook. I had completely forgotten of this game but this does bring back memories. One of my favorite games from my youth.

Been waiting over 20 years for a ninja game as good as this, finally we have Sekiro, but I'll never forget Tenchu.

I remember thinking that fight music with onikage was killer. Still is... Every weekend my cousin would bring this game to my house and I'd watch him play it.

Fun fact: The voice actor who plays the narrator is also Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

This game should be remastered. If not a remaster then it at least deserves a continuation. I think the Tenchu franchise died after Tenchu: Shadow Assassins. We haven't had a Tenchu game in 5 years. And most of the ones that came after Wrath of Heaven, weren't that great.

Anyone who played this years ago is no doubt still a gamer now. I was playing this at 8 years old. I laugh at the terrible voice acting now, but this game was awesome for it's time. That skeleton level with the big lady used to scare the shit out of me. Oh, and Onikage was such a badass. Always loved his scenes.

I remember when Tenchu first came out. It was all in Japanese, and this was long before I actually knew any, but I just had to buy and play it anyway. I loved it.

The music was phenomenal for this game. Still incredible today, made the game so immersive. Opening theme still haunts me when I hear it...

Man I loved this game so much as a child. Ghost of Tsushima has me so nostalgic for it now and can we just imagine what Sucker Punch could do with a Tenchu game now?

I'm 25 I remember in 1999 my brother brining this home I was about 8 and I got killed in two minutes and was hooked they don't make games like this anymore. Tenchu is a timeless classic I wish this would go on PSN as a download

Tenchu is the GODFATHER of 3D stealth games, and still pretty much the only TRUE feeling ninja game! So many people think it was Metal Gear Solid that gave birth to stealth in the 3rd dimension. Blasphemy will not be tolerated!

I was like 6 or 7 when I played this, yet it still always stuck with me as one of the games up there with Metal Gear Solid as definitive of the Playstation experience. I still remember some of this.

Easily in my top 10 games of all time. The soundtrack is a masterpiece. It was my first stealth game as a kid, I had never played anything like it. Being able to grapple to roof tops and go anywhere was really amazing to me at that time. Stealth kills were super satisfying, and the level design was fantastic.

A game that deserves to be brought back and into the new age

Man, this game is a gem. I remember playing it for a few minutes as a kid. It's definitely one of those games my parents would've flipped out about lol. For the longest I didn't know of its name, but I came across it online recently. Now I have the rom in an emulator, with settings cranked up for a more pleasing picture, having a killer time. If there's any PS1 gameplay that's aged well, it's this.

When i was a kid i only can beat one or two levels of this game. This is insane how much content it really have. One of the best ps1 games, surely

Tenchu: Shadows die twice

When I was 13, I knew this game and now I'm 33, this is still the most memorable game I have ever played

OMG so back in the day when my folks got me a psx they just got the console, the controllers (obviously) and whatever came in the box... no memory card (which came much much much later).. and i remember having to always start tenchu from the first level when i wanted to play it... and that 'punish the evil merchant' theme is burned into my brain... thanks for doing a run of this game man brings back special memories...

This game came into my life when I was about 13/14 years old back in Mexico , I remember I grabbed it as soon as I saw it . Back in those days in Mexico , videogames were a sensation, everyone was crazy about the ps1 but games were very expensive , luckily for us there were cheap pirate versions of the games and I remember you'd had to pay like 10 USD dollars to install a chip that will alowe the console to play the games witch have a cost of about a dollar back in those days ( around 2000/2002) I remember I liked it so much since the very beginning but I couldn't understand what they talked about , still it was amazing listening all dialogues and I always thought it sounded so cool. I remember me and my uncle who was about my age , we both liked playing this a lot , and we would always replay all missions trying to do things in different ways , we felt like ninjas back in those days We didn't know what was the plot all about since we didn't speak English but we understood we had to protect our Lord and save our princess , to be brave and cut our enemies , but most importantly , to live with honor This game definitely was a very important part of my teenage days . Now many years later am able to have the original game in perfect condition and now can understand what they're talking about. Such a nostalgic feeling that this game gives me , oh the memories that come to me any time I play or see any video or listen to the music of this master piece

This was the first game I played on my brand new PS1 back in the day. One of the most advanced and groundbreaking games made for that system...and held up to any similar PS2 game to come. It wouldn't surprise me if this game influenced Ubisoft's "Splinter Cell" series that came later, another of my favorites.

My favorite stealth Kill is the Judo Bone breaking one. I also find it Hilarious that the Pirates in this game couldn't swim and would drown if you managed to push them into the water 😂😂

I bought this on the release day way back when I was a young man, this ply through was a genuinely happy travel back in time for me. I remember playing this every single day for months on end. Stealth Assassin all the way.

Nothing will beat renting this over and over again and then finally my dude gave me his copy I was so happy, just turned 30 and childhood is further away than ever
