I'm a Die Hard Sachin fan, but I admit I didn't know of this incredible innings. Thank You 'Lord's Cricket Ground'. You just made my day. Still in awe of the Master! 💞
1998 really was Sachin's year. 9 ODI centuries in a calender year - record not yet broken 12 total centuries in a calender year - another record not broken. And this century at Lords. Wow 1998 ! Whatta year !
“One of the best innings Lords has ever seen”- Bob Willis got it right.. it doesn’t matter if his name is on the honor’s board or dishonours board or not..:)
I watched it live on tv..in between overs sachin advertisement of coalgate total aired..we could not even move between overs..tendulkar cannot be replaced.
This video is a reply to those who thought Sachin hasn't scored a century at Lords and to those who said he is not a match winner. He ( and Arvinda) brought this match close to victory for ROW. Thanks ECB for uploading this good quality video. It was no lesser than an international innings. This MCC team is star-studded team (having a sharp bowling attack like McGrath, Donald, Shrinath, Kumble, Brian McMillan) which is much better than England National team's bowling attack of 90's. Sachin in 90's time was another league (he was an attacking batsman with unmatchable technique that's why both purists and new age cricket lovers liked him very much). After 2003 world Cup Sachin managed his game due to injuries and played a different role for the team. Sehwag was bashing bowlers so Sachin and Dravid started to build India's foundation and Yuvi & Dhoni (greatest mind to step in a cricket field ever) used to finish things off in style. Edit - Arvinda (SL) and Shiv(WI) were great players undoubtedly. I have huge respect for both of them too.
Dhoni chutiya overrated hai... Koi technique nahi hai aur banda lucky hai sirf... 2011 me team acchi thi 2007 me usne kuch nahi ukhada tha...gsutam gambhir jyada accha hai...agar 2015 2019 me jitte toh baat alag thi
LoL! This was a charity match, where bowlers perform at 50 pc! Check king Kohli's record and then bring Tendulkar into discussion. And who has played matchwinner innings vs one who just accumulated ( other than Sharjah 98 and Chennai 2008)
@@IITianProudIndian you are a kid apparently. Tendulkar has an avg of 61 in winning causes in odis that too in 90s when our team was nowhere as good as now. Kohli can't even win games without Rohit or Dhawan contributing. Rohit and Dhawan also give their best for the country in ICC odi events unlike Kohli who is a renowned choker. Coming to tests does Kohli even have a match winning hundred without bashing a third class attack on a flat wicket? First let Kohli compare with Rohit as the greatest odi batsman of his generation and Smith as the best test batsman of his generation then even think about bringing Choker Kohli in discussion with the greatest Sachin. Everyone knows who was an accumulator and who wasn't. The one who deals only in singles ,doubles is the accumulator who has only few good shots in his range and that's Choker Kohli who is not even a patch on Tendulkar's class and talent. Avg of 13 in knockouts and this choker gets compared with Tendulkar LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
@@ruchirmundhra6716 yes truely said...Rajvansh seems to be a kid of this generation....hahhahaha.... This generation have never saw 90s-2003 matches... They will never know cricket , how it was . Kid also doesn't know that sachin is playing against a red Duke's ball in england swinging conditions chasing 261 in 50 overs..and sachin played very very easily against Donald,McGrath,srinath.. These kids will never know this, where our present indian test team chokes so much in england against Duke's ball where today's indian test team have only few times crossed 350-400 run mark in england... Hahahahhaa...these kids will never know quality of cricket.... Hahahah....
Kohli not face quality bowling like Walsh , Ambrose ,akram ,murali , Shen warne , Donald , Waqar .extra .this time only 3to 4 quality bowlers at international level like michel stark ,volt aamir, exetra .so no compare with sachin
@@groot3535 yes , not just McGrath. Sachin test matches averages against this guy's like Donald ,Pollock , less than 25 + test match average . He was properly hammered by this bowlers on many occasion
"Technically, the best player I ever played against was Sachin Tendulkar. Home or away, he could adapt. When he came to South Africa, you could clearly see that he adapted his technique to bouncier wickets. And he left the ball so well. He triggered in South Africa. In India, he didn’t because of lower bounce. And his hands took over in India because the wickets just slid on so beautifully. And not to mention the turn, but in South Africa and Australia, he triggered a little bit. He got closer to off-stump, knew where he was. He got hundreds against every country in the world and in their own conditions," Donald told Paddy Upton on his podcast 'Lessons From The World's Best'.
@@groot3535 No way 2001 series Sachin gave him a mast fight !!! 1999 Test series Sachin was the boss few decisions went against him !!! Post his Back pain & Tennis Elbow Mcgrath got the better of him !!!! Hansie was the only bowler who caused discomfort for Sachin when he was at his full form !!!!! VInay kumar produced same type of delivery in IPL which used to stop and come at a greater force Sachin was out few times of VInay Kumar !!!!
ENGLISH CONDITIONS RED BALL (DUKE) McGrath (best form) Donald (best form) Sachin Hits century chasing the target successfully ... if you still not getting why he is best batsman ever ... then you need psychological counselling
What if I tell u that ur great Tendulkar averages 17 against Lee. 22 against McGrath 22 against Donald. 5 against pollock and hence he have very poor average against all great bowlers of that time
@@bigboss-yf9ou u can go and check on espncricinfo. I have taken all the stats from there. I can take the nation oath I am not making it up. Just telling the truth. Its just that our Tendulkar is a bit overrated odi batsman . In tests he is gold
Despite Tendulkar’s 100.... Aravinda’s stroke-play was an absolute delight... Especially his pull shots against Mc Garth ...aah...with so much of ease and authority..
Bhai Chill Karo. Its a charity cum exhibition match. Mcgrath must have been at 50 pc. Tendulkar is very good against bowlers not at their best, hence his record against zim, bangladesh, SL pace bowlers, west indies post 2000(against cuffy, collins etc), Australia with bowlers like bichel and bracken, england against bowlers like Trenmlet, hoggard, and other random names. Against the best , he always struggled!!!
@@IITianProudIndian vai tu agenda leke chal raha hai keya har jaiga ek hi comment....Sachin k khilaf....best team tab aus tha...unke khilaf tere baap Sachin ka 20 century hai... Pata nehi keya aab women's cricket ground jaisi size mein 2 powerplay aur 2 new ball leke kohli Suranga Lakmal jaise legends ko har roj khelta hai...
@@IITianProudIndian fool, this is actually the other way round, his talent is such if there is no pressure on him , what he could do to great bowlers in the 1990s. He had to tone down his aggression as india in the 90s was totally depending on him.
In fact he made 13 centuries in that single year alone... Inspite all the great all time bowlers were at their peak...Had he continued with same speed , he would have smashed 100 centuries by 2005 itself...
What a time that I born...lot of memories...love u Sachin..my all time Favourite..No one can replace you in history of cricket...you are Torchbearer of indian cricket...
Thanks for this upload ! Sachin Tendulkar was the greatest entertainer Cricket has ever known ! Numbers were consequences ! The best behaved ever, a role model unsurpassed ! With him in the team lost or won, the game always won and India was the team to watch ! Had he played for say Australia ,he would have multiplied his numbers byat least a factor of 3 !
Dude no matter how great a player they cant just right a name on that board just coz he was a legendary player you gotta earn that thing like every other player did..rules r same for all
Is that why it meant so much to Rahul Dravid?? Because to me Dravid is way classier, dependable and selfless than Sachin. If I was having a test team Dravid will have an automatic spot
@@beefy1986 Dravid has never qualified in any of Great's All Time XI... If 10 kids of 1990s had cricketers pics in their room...7 was of Sachin...one Dravid...two others...
This is why we called Sachin is the pure class of the Cricket. His proficiency is unbelievable. He had treated world best bowlers as club bowlers. He is the king of Cricket
12:19 Proud to been a Sachin fan since 1992 His batting techniques even at the age of 18-22... an inspiration and coaching manual for billions of young cricket lovers (8+,10+,15+,18+,22+,25+,…) during 1992-1998 time...
Sachin's innings was incredible. But I have to say, I think Aravinda is the most underrated cricketer of all time. What a talent. I have not seen any batsman play the short delivery better than him. Maybe Ricky Ponting but that is it. Superb all round player who hasn't received his due.
6:41,8:05..only MASTER could play Wonderful exhibition of classic stroke plays...........many great players come and records may be broken. SACHIN stoke plays and effortless batting techniques remembered for very very longtime.
Amazing stroke play from two masters from Asia(Sachin, Aravinda). Both in beast mode. McGrath dropping the ball marginally short, both these batsmen pulling him way infront of square, that too on a lively pitch in English conditions . Great sight to watch. One of the best odi centuries by Sachin.
Two of the greatest stroke makers of 90s batting alongside in the same team and at their absolute best. Spectators were living a dream. Why can't we have a similar match today, these matches were so common in yester years.
I remembered this match and I just wonder how destructive the top 4 of Sachin's team was.4 of the best batsman those days In top4( Sachin , Sanath, Anwar amd desilva)
And you know what bro thats also the shot which cost us 2003 world cup 😞😞.... Go and watch final of 2003 wc sachin tried to go for that shot on macgrath shortball but failed and that was very high blow for confidence of indian team 😣...... Only viru managed some attck but rest are just bullshited in that innings and Aussies won that comfortably
@@hagimaru1147 indian team failed in first half of the match .........Batting in 2nd inning of a world cup final chasing 360 is the most pressure situation you can think of .......He batted brilliantly during whole tournament.......He had to play like that in the final but it was just not his day 😥
@@tanujpratapsingh4232 nope he tried that shot against south africa and failed even in that but luckily that time it goes far from fielder and sachin got 4 runs for that shot if he got out during SA match then may be we could say we had chances...... And no bro we have most destructive batting side that era sehwag was enough for ausses if other end was safe .... We had batting upto 6th wicket fall so yeah we could achieved it if we managed to scored 100 odd in 20 overs with one or no wicket
@@hagimaru1147 we can assume any possibility ........It could happen...That could happen ........But the reality is that it was a final .....And chasing a mammoth total is very difficult .......Even the Australia team could not chase in same conditions.
I still remember I was 16 in 1998 & I postponed my date with my Girl friend.. Because of this match.. That was the most awaiting match that time...Thanks for upload
Even I was 16 that time ...n what u said must be true bcos there was nothing more important for us (Sachin fans) those days than watching him bat and score 100. We have bunked our schools, tuitions just to watch his batting.
Definitely a top class innings. Srinath was the only one who was able keep Sachin quiet for sometine even though Kumble took his wicket. More importantly thanks to Chanderpaul we are able to see this great Sachin innings. Chanderpaul dropped him early in the innings off Srinath. And of course full marks to the gr8 knocks from Chanderpaul and Arvinda.
Watching sachin innings is always a joy. Sachin in such a form imagine this decade bowlers he could have smashed them like a school boy bowling to him. They wouldn't have last long. Imagine also this form of sachin he could have scored most number of runs in IPL and world T20. Sachin's hero was sunil gavaskar and sir Vivian Richards so he is combo of both plus his master class and thinking ahead of the game and psyche of the bowlers. We just need to see reactions of the bowlers. There is no comparison of the Bharat Ratna.
This was the only time, I saw desilva without sweat and soiled shirt. Jokes apart, this match was a gem. Chanderpaul, Azhar, Sachin, Desilva and other stars must be appreciated . ICC should conduct this kind of matches now, when cricket stopped due to Corona.
Sachin Paaji. Kaise kar lete ho? Superb batting. What a stroke play. One of the best Innings that Lords have ever seen. No mortal can come closer to the Sachin of 1998. 🙌
Sachin Tendulkar looks like a video game player playing in very easy settings. I think the little master was at his peak during those years, what a player.
This is a gem of an upload... Classic as it can be with lords, its ambience and master blaster in his sublime royal touch!!! Nostalgic as it can be with alllll the gems of 90s playing in this match.... Thanks for the video!!!!
Sachin prime time,1998 is for Sachin, back to back hundred against Aussie in Sharjah Coca-Cola cup and 2 hundred's vs zim at same venue coca cola tri series.. superb...
Look at how smoothly he plays the spin ... There's absolutely no signs of any mistake in his innings This was the maestro at his peak ... The God of Cricket "Sachin Tendulkar"
Oh, these videos are time capsules! They are simply priceless! Getting to watch all the legends of the '80s and '90s is a fantastic experience! Thank you for posting the video...
I still remember watching this match on my new min color TV that we had got few months ago. It was a delight to watch this match. 2 Stalwarts of yesteryears. Shivnarine and Sachin !!
