We stayed at the Sol Tenerife. Room was facing Veronicas. Every night was the thump, thump, thump of drum n bass till 4am . After enduring 3 nights of this, we asked if we could be put in a different room facing away from Veronicas. We moved literally across the corridor and finally got a full nights sleep 😉😉
@@johnburns5783 Typical story of the Sol Tenerife John - i’ve not stayed there but i’ve heard this many times. Shame because the hotel is in a great spot otherwise 👍
WOW Col, far too busy there for me, defo wont find me there ever lol. Cheeky fella wasn't he, trying to get ya wallet. Defo gotta have ya wits about ya. Hats off to you for bringing great content even tho its not my scene. Very confident you are, and going from strength to strength, keep it up and well done. Defo be at 3k soon 🎉😊
@@COLSPLACE44 now I’m 64 Col don’t think I would be there however when I was 18-25 certainly was.Speak soon pal enjoy the rest of your time in Tenerife
@@COLSPLACE44 I have had some interesting encounters. while being very drunk, at 3am+ around those areas. people trying to engage you in conversation about some promotion or what ever and then having hands on my wrist, presumably trying to detach my watch, the most this ever escalated was I told the guy F off and he did.:) In London the equivalent would be three or four thugs on stolen mopeds coming at you with machetes.
Definitely be careful when out on the strip. I ended up out on my own one night. 2 days later I got a slip put under hotel door saying police had been to hotel looking for me. Turns out the phone I thought I’d lost whilst out had actually been stolen from me and I had to go the station and make a statement. Turns out touts on strip saw this guy trying to rob someone else, called police and when approached by police he threw my phone and ran. 4 years later I was summoned to court in Tenerife. I didn’t have to go thankfully. So yes be careful as it can be easily done when you’ve had a few drinks.
Went Tenerife in the mid 2000's, we were advised that Veronica's & the bars on that side were 'the wrong side of the tracks'. We ventured over there once & found out it was. Best to stick to the bars around Linekers bar & that side of things. It still appears that advice holds true.
Yes - agreed. Veronicas is fine if you’re not too out of it & a bit street-wise. The dodgy characters tend to target the vulnerable - i.e young & drunk
Col you are certainly doing great with these daily vlogs… Wakanda is a lovely bar …You we’re brave enough dealing with the Lucky Lucky men as so easily to be pickpocketed there but thanks for highlighting the dangers Well done ! xx👍👍
The best hotels to stay in are around hotel la siesta, vulcano, bitacora area, nice and near to veronicas, golden mile and a bit further walk to Los cristianos town (for location).
Great video mate, we always give the looky looky men a wide berth and never go down Veronica's, only time I do speak to them is when I need a cheap watch & that's always during the day lol
Not had problems but then again chilled out on the balcony or fast asleep in Los Chis at this time, so thanks for showing what goes on cause we wont be seeing it any other way
I used to work on Veronica's strip in 2001 as one of those annoying PR's, but back then you could get away with some cheek, nowadays knives and gang fights, not worth it, subbed ..coming back for a few 6 months next year, trying to do my youth again lol, all the best
Been hear 2 weeks always go I yards bar but since it changed hads its not been open during the day at all been coming for over 27 years always like jardys bar
Sugereef and Joyce host London Dj’s from Centreforce Radio 88.3, some great Dj liineups. I have played in 5 bars and clubs on Veronica’s, since the 90’s played Sugareef in 2019. Mrs T’s open roof parties where awesome.
Just come back from there..5 people in our hotel had their pockets picked. And did you mention the overwhelming smell of weed when you near the Veronicas area? I remember being taken into an underground bar where the door was locked Alarm bells rang straight away..they tried to persuade me to part with 20 euros to join the 'club' so I could buy as much weed as I wanted..They wouldn't take NO for an answer and turned very unpleasant. But I stuck to my guns, didn't pay and was simply glad to get out of there with no trouble. Definitely won't be returning to that area.
Sorry col never come back to tenerife we stayed in noila sur witch is now the tigton we got mugged there and it's still as bad and no one is still is doing anything about it 😢
Such a shame Susan but i agree, there does seem a reluctance to act against it these days. I remember years gone by when there were dozens of local police monitoring these busy areas. Just like the UK though, its a rare thing to see them.
The o e and o ky time I was in Tenerife col was at a weekend stag and li Ed in oneills so that's probably why I Don't go there and prefer lanzarote but all you lovely gang are changing my perception of there so cheers
Veronicas has changed over the years. there were years when nothing was open and in the mid 90s it was a lot worse than it is nowadays. It was cheap chips though and loads of of offers, 2,3 even 4 for 1 and shots galore but it was a well dodgy place to visit, never on your own
Cheers Andy - the 4 drinks for 1 thing are a thing if the past now - no British PRs on top Of the steps to drag punters in with them anymore - since brexit & covid!
Thank you so much for doing this vlog for us. Definitely a different atmosphere at night. Safety in numbers, or places packed with people......btw, was that your motor parked across from Veronica's 1?? Do you have to pay for parking at a meter, or similar? x🤔🏖☺
Hi Linda - i’d say safety by not getting too drunk & not taking loads of cash/cards/phones out with you where poss. Dont make yourself an easy target. I didnt drive there sorry. No idea re the car parking around there - theres some on street parking by beach but always busy ☺️
Love Veronicas but I got added advantage of knowing plenty of friendly bar staff and reps along the strip really well - great drink deals till 3/4 in morning and dancing . But u need to be on ur guard no different to night out in bars in London or other cities. Lava Lounge opposite Veronicas has good entertainment and g8 iced cocktails . During the day / early evening there are great restaurants overlooking the ocean and Coco Beach bar for lush cocktails ( beachside - other side of Veronicas strip ) Stayed in Sol Tenerife and plenty other hotels nearby all good 👍.
Thanks Teejay & agreed - some great little restaurants on the beach side. I’m getting familiar with the staff as well - most are ok with me filming now as i’m isually in & out 👍
Them underpasses at the beginning of Veronicas, have always been lively.Had a run in 1990 ...1990 🤦🏻♂️ under there with some Belgian lads.Same week some young Brit got stabbed under there.Had some great nights in and around Veronicas tho. Some great tips on this vlog. Its safe enough Tenerife and I still use it to the max.
Absolutely true mate - it is safe enough as long as you use common sense. I always say treat it like a night out back home - no wads of cash falling out your pocket & stick with your mates. 👍
im in las americas at the moment with my two 17 year old sons who cant be left to their own devices (for obious reasons). can you recommend any family friendly places that would be livlely enough to keep them entertained?
Hi Alison - 17 - tricky age for it as they probably want to hit the bars - i know i did at that age. Both the Patch & La Paz area are more family friendly & you could let them off the leash a bit in both those areas, however the entertainment there isnt geared towards their age. Plenty of youngsters around both areas though if they are social lads. Pity i’m not still there - i’d have took them off filming with me to give you a break! 😆
You need to remember that there are far worse places than Tenerife and Canary Islands. Places like Benidorm have a life more problems and crime, being like a city there are a lot of muggings and drunken violence in Benidorm which you don’t get in the Canary Islands.
Blackpool with sun, visited many years ago the walkway was supposed to be 1"white tiles, couldnt see them for all the shite, vomit, food, drink and god knows what else,, 4 of us got banned from the strip as they didnt like squaddies lol
You have to go under that walkway at the end of Veronicas u showed if your staying in Sol Tenerife hotel as its main way to get back in there . But I agree stay with your mates all the time. Fellas don’t get caught up with local hoes wandering about ( pickpocketing drunks ) . There are several strip / lap dancing clubs that are safer than woman on the streets !
Hey col just found this vlog not seen hope you were saying safe fantastic vlog as usual as I have said your mad. But you have to show it what it is ❤xx
Hi Stephen - i’m not too far behind you agewise & i’d say youre fine to go anywhere here depending on your music tastes & how long you want to stay out. la paz strip is all ages & tribute acts/cabaret/karaoke. The patch seems more family orientated but with karaoke & tribute shows. Dubliner bar opposite is superb & open until usually past 4am. Veronicas in this video is on until 5-6am & a bit younger & livelier. Costa adeje - tribute shows etc usualy til 1-2 am. Los cris - mirador & funchal strips - tribute shows & karaoke til 1-2am Worth having a gander around them all
@@COLSPLACE44 I'm planning on going to Tenerife next year (probably Los Christianos), never visited the island before; & I'll be 57 years old! I've just come across your channel & I'm finding your vlogs invaluable.
Coming to Tenerife in 3 weeks. Wanting to go out on Veronica's but what time would you suggest going out at? Dont want it to be too quite but dont want it to be too rammed either
I'd walk from the Parque de la Paz strip to the Patch, but if coming home on my own, I always get a taxi, and I just stay in the Columbus. Also dont take my mobile out at nights, just cash and an old camera. Walking near that big wide corner, you get tormented by 'working girls'.
Yep - every bar/club in the resorts are all free entry 👍 if a club has a specific night with an admission fee, it will be advertised. There are some that charge on occasion - eg Tramps in starco charge 10e admission but you get 3 or 4 drinks vouchers
