Beautiful fish!! I’m happy to see you only caught brook trout because I’ve caught just as many browns there. It’s always worried me that the browns could dominate there one day.
Thanks! I was very encouraged by the number of juvenile brook trout we caught (many of whom didn’t get recorded). It’s an indication of habitat health even with the relatively low water levels. I think the water was a bit too cold for the browns to be active.
Great video. I’ve fished there twice and have yet to catch a fish. Both times I fished there the water was much lower and the sun higher. Thanks for sharing.
Wow Gary what a beautiful specimen! I can see why that brookie got the thumbnail! So would you say the bite is great during a storm? I love fishing in the rain, but hearing that thunder, I'd be out of the creek so fast! 😂 Great video my friend!
Thanks Jared! I’m not a big fan of lightning and I confess to hunkering down for about 10 minutes during the worst of it, but there was a tree covered bluff right next to the creek and I didn’t feel too exposed. (The thought of my Oni being a four-meter lightning rod did cross my mind.) I think the bite was good because of the dark clouds, they weren’t spooking like I thought they might.
