Then at some point after he done this interview where he said "I'm Doctor who!" The interviewer said "not anymore baby!" This was because David was no longer the doctor however in the most recent episode (THIS IS WHERE THE SPOILERS START) the 13th Doctor regenated into David Tennant so he is infact Doctor who, this explains the caption saying he "played the long game with this arguement."
