One of the best collections of vintage Southern Railway equipment can be found at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Two of the stars of the collection are 2-8-0 steam locomotive number 630 and 2-8-2 number 4501, which was for a time part of the Norfolk Southern Railroad’s steam program. In 2015, I had the opportunity to capture 4501 on video as part of a Dynamo Productions photography event. Two years later, in 2017, I filmed both locomotives running together on a special excursion put on by the museum between Chattanooga and Summerville, Georgia. In this video, we will visit the museum to see these two classic steam locomotives in action.
