Hey olly. Been watching you for ages. Top joiner and being a guy who works with wood i appreciate your skills and knowledge. I think the newer format has definitely brought i brighter aspect to the videos. I realise they are hard to get right but think your on the correct path. Cheers Tim

First Like and comment again. It shows my dedication to sitting down with my feet up after what is to me a long day 😂. I love the jigs and have no doubt they will work as planned. I am mostly using oak for my wood turning recently, some 350 year old beams, which are definitely well seasoned. Looking forward to tomorrow’s upload. Regards 🌞

Great stuff really enjoying these new vids. If I've missed that you have mentioned this I apologise but did you get your green oak planed square or did you machine it ?

Your green Oak doesn’t seem to be very green. I have had posts that were quite literally wet inside when machining tenons and mortices. I know you were worrying about movement on the braces, but they also didn’t seem very green. I also found that the orientation of the braces compared to the tree makes a difference in how they shrink. Keeping the outer/lower edge nearest the outside of the tree seems to make the shrinkage move towards the post so the shoulders don’t pull away from post so much. Also did it occur to you that the chain morticer could be used to cut the waste away from tenons. I found this much more accurate than using a saw.

Really enjoying the new format Ollie. Obviously the animals are far more interesting than you so please share air time accordingly. Thank you! 🤣

Green Oak ..Remember once upon many moons ago worked on a jetty this was in Scotland in winter they were replacing the fenders using Green Oak .Fenders were approx 2 feet by 2 feet and bolted with massive bolts to the jetty. Had to work to the tides so all pontoon work as it was tide work we would be out sometimes at 4 am. The Jetty was not used by mainstay traffic and there was nothing to stop you getting blown about or off the Jetty possibly worst job i ever worked on. (been a few) PS worked on a farm about age 13 helping farmer bring in the hay none of this posh stuff with loads of machines to do to lifting. Had to fork up bales of hay to tractor trailer (slept well those school summers i will tell you knackered) Same farm cow was having a calf farmer says give us a hand (what I was age 13) had to help tie rope to pull calf out covered in you know what. Happy days in the summer months.
