Try out "Tally Ho - Jeff Van Dyck" Should be under Medieval 2 Total War. It's the pre-battle music as you decide whether to fight, withdraw, etc.

Me who has to answer the question & never touched the GoW franchise: "Uhhhhhh..." Everyone Else: 0:00 for several seconds Sphinx DM: "If you don't answer in-" Me: *now in character* "Depression?" Sphinx DM: *disappointed* "...no, a hole." Everyone else: *Annoyingly starts to roll for initiative* Me who mentally categorizes holes as pits thanks to 10+ years of playing platformers: *still in character* "A whole of??" DM: *confused* "What?" Me: *me breaking character* "A whole of what? She you didn't finish the answer." DM: *Now kind of angry* "No the answer is A Hole." Me: *matching his tone* "OF?" I used this during a moment in the campaign when the players were under watch by the town guard. Some shit went down, they isolated one guard, kidnapped him, and then killed him, making for their escape. They said they loved the music!

I like this. And wikl use this. But if you're looking for something a bit more dramatic and don't care about copy right, try "A Heated Discussion" from Assassin's creed revelations. Used that during a parley with a villain, it was glorious.

My players were in the lost temple of a phoenix cult. A ray from the sun was shining through a small hole. As the sun moves, the light would eventually meet the statue of a phoenix in the center of the temple, at which point the temple would be illuminated in burning golden colors, while oil and blood would start dripping from the walls. There were bowls with oil and torches in the temple. Hints on the wall suggested that they need to burn themselves to death, in order to receive the phoenix' blessing. This music was perfect for the final moment, when they had to combine all the hints to replicate the ritual and make the decision.

D&D needs more intrigue-focused adventures with and investigations. But that's difficult to pull off when social encounters come down to a skill roll and higher level parties can uncover any mystery with powerful magic.

A bit unrelated, but this made me wonder if tense was good. If it got too heated then some methods of de-escalation would be used, meanwhile justice in equality & fairness would be upheld. Maybe it can be tense morally or ethically, tense in disagreements but open to understanding & negotiating alternatives. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to listen to such a beautiful work
