David Foster Wallace discusses the rhetoric of Bryan Garner's A Dictionary of Modern American Usage, and the divide between Prescriptivist and Descriptivist approaches to contemporary American usage.
This article was published in Harper's Magazine in April, 2001: harpers.org/wp-content/uploads....
This is an interesting article for me, as I recently picked up Garner's dictionary from the local library recently, before deciding to do this recording or knowing the context of the article.
This was one of the toughest recordings for me. The recording and editing was difficult, and took longer than usual.
Thanks for listening (reading)!

I dont think he found the general semantics material by Alfred Korzybski (Science & Sanity). Maybe coulda saved his life. Or at the least 'Quantum Psychology' by Robert Anton Wilson. He didnt have to die.
