You gotta laugh at the McBryan's HR & labour relations policies...a captain-level pilot with 3000 hours working as a cargo labourer & when he dares to stand-up for himself the family response is ''that's not something you say when you've only been here 4 months...'' 4 MONTHS & he still hasn't flown...!?! 😯

Cuz he is a 3000 hrs pilot, not a low time young rampie… wasting his time there. Plenty of other places with cool planes where an experienced guy isn’t turned into a mail delivery guy and restarts at the complete bottom.
@madmadmal
@madmadmal Год назад
Two things: 1. Get a real ramp crew for Hay River not just sucking the life of pilots. 2. If you hire a pilot, let them do the job they are hired to do. Will wasn’t pilot making demands, Will was a pilot wanting to be a pilot, not a ramp hand.

I love Mikey, but he forgets what its like not holding the cards in his hands with an employee. The dude has plenty of experience, he’s not making ultimatums he’s telling you he’s going to leave if he’s not going to start doing what you hired him to do. The 250 hour pilot doesn’t have much else in the form of opportunity and theyre just starting out so it makes sense to have them work up from the bottom. Not the same as the experienced guy. It’d be like if Mikey left to get another freight job and they made him work the ramp for a year before stepping into his logistic/manager role… I bet he’d change his tune/view then
@GrumpyAustralian

Mikey is the "Village Idiot" because he's not interest as to why people are leaving. The philosophy of "Use and Abuse" is the motto related to personnel management. Buffalo's management style sucks and I doubt Mikey would be able to hold a Freight Manager's post in a corporate environment.

Joe runs his company as if he's a supervisor/foreman instead of a president. There's a Chief pilot and Director of flight operations but it seems like Joe decides who flies which plane and when. If that is not enough he's got a Director of maintenance but it seems like he's got the final say on who does what and when at the hangar. Whenever I watch ice pilots it seems like General manager and Director of maintenance can't do anything without the approval of Joe. He's got brilliant pilots and engineers/mechanics there at Buffalo airways
@Cramblit
@Cramblit 2 года назад
It's his company in the end. While he does seem to have a bit more of a direct control on things, he does have every right to come back and say "why wasn't it done this way or that" or make sure things are going right. Which is what he seems to be trying to do. Like the argument at the start of the episode, but you're right there are times where it's like.. why are you even stepping in right now joe? lol

I'm sure Mikey doesn't like pilots who make demands. But he has also employed a certified captain on the undertaking that said captain be flying, if not a DC-3 straight away, then something at least. But the captain is working ramp and driving courier vans like regular ground crew, getting zero flight time. I don't really know what Mikey expected from this guy. He's not a rookie pilot, he's done the yards, and Buffalo's issues with staff aren't his problem. So I think Mikey is being rather churlish and unjust. Just give the man some flight time and put somebody on who can help him on the ramp, even if it isn't another pilot. No need to get up in the snuff about it.

The owners abuse their people, accept zero responsibility for their bad management behaviors. I think Joe throws the threat of firing around more than he actually would, because he knows people are there because they want to be around the vintage planes, and many of them either live up there, or traveled across the world to be there, and aren't about to leave.
