Demonstrators took to the streets outside a downtown Toronto hotel to oppose an Eritrean cultural festival in what they say is direct support of a repressive regime.
I can't imagine if I lived in another country to begin protesting, causing problems, delaying people, involving police etc. because I have some political issue that has nothing to do with the country that has accepted me. It would be embarrassing.
@@heavent883 What if they were there just to protest and the organizers attacked them first, because they didn’t like what they had to say? What if they’re Canadian citizens and some cases born here? My take is, if anyone of them, either side, broke any laws. Charge them accordingly. Just by looking at the news clips, I did not see any violations to the level of labeling anyone a terrorist or deportable.

The rest of Toronto isn't going to foot the bill to police stabbing wars at these festivals. In case you haven't heard Toronto is broke. It's in their interest, to ban it for a period and have harsh repercussions for such lawlessness, since this is red meat to racists and people on the right that are dying for excuses to ban or limit immigration / asylum.

But if the event attracts violent conflict, it needs to be addressed and not with like 100 officers for days on Toronto's dime. It's not fair. It never was. They're essentially a terrorist group as they have attempted to start a coup in Ethiopia by taking hostages, attempting to bomb an airport in the neighboring country, Eritrea. They are not Eritrean which the media hasn't clarified, they're basically being paid to disrupt and tarnish Eritrea with propaganda through social media, news and and now have chosen violence. If you're not from there it's difficult to get a clear perspective, we come to Canada as peaceful, hardworking people. We have been celebrating for decades without violence, only for our reputation to be smeared by these idiots. In my opinion, they need to be deported as we don't bring our politics here, that's what they do. A lot of them come here on forged documents, claiming to be eritreans as they do speak our native Tigrinya but a different dialect, with some even integrating into our country, essentially enemies of the state.

BREAKING NEWS I am disappointed and ashamed of the city’s decision to disrupt/ revoke the Eritrean cultural festival. This is a big slap in the face of Eritrean Canadians and their identity. This is the festival Eritreans have had for more than 25 years. This is an invent Eritreans experience their customs and share with each other. Why is it hard for the police to stop the aggressors? Why is the city allowing the unit Eritreans (Tigrians from Ethiopia )to demonstrate in the same place where the peace loving Eritreans are celebrating their cultural events? Will the city revoke Israelis, French or LGBT or religious events because a group of demonstrators chanting against them? I doubt. So I am asking City Tv to pass this message to the city, and the Canada government. Eritreans deserve equal right like any other Canadians
They are not Tigrayans. They are tigre people. The original Eritreans who lives on the low lands. They don't want Tigrinyas (Ethiopians 2.0: more brutal and oppressive than Derg) on their lands or near their sea. They want them to take their piece of land and go back to Ethiopia. They will create Islamic Republic of Eritrea and declare independence based on a map that Ottomans drew 500 years ago.

This festival is not government related, and is not raising funds for the government. Its is a cultural festival where people of all political beliefs can celebrate together.
