That's a good looking tent, nice upgrade! It doesn't seem like it, but I'm thinking our 2 Kelty tents are 5-7 years old now (time flies just like Crows do 😜), the 3 person is showing some wear where the mesh is very (VERY) thin (that one's always felt a little...flimsy, but it lasted several years anyways, was a $500 tent if we hadn't gotten it half price too, was always a little ticked off at that), but the 2 person one, though it has cheaper fiberglass poles that are about worn out, has always weathered the storms (pun intended) really well, it's performed well enough that I'd probably buy another Kelty 2 person tent (that other one we have though, for what it cost, seems to have worked hard to get me to not be interested in another, so it equals out 🤣). Anyways, great review! I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up, might be a good upgrade/replacement for my Kelty 2 person when it's poles finally snap/wear out too far, and just the right size for me to pack on the bike (while I always liked the extra space of the Trail Ridge 3 we have when I'm solo moto-camping, it did take up a bit more space packed on the bike) 😁✌
Appreciate it! Sounds like we have had similar experiences with Kelty. They last a long time. But, with that durability comes a little more weight. I used the previous one for years. Howdy, I bought the same tent except the 1-person version. I used it for 1 bicycle tour so far and it did great. I was wondering about its waterproofness so I was glad to learn that yours came through with flying colors.

I have the Salida 2 right now. I took it up Mount Whitney. On the heavy side, but a solid tent. The downside is that the taffeta goes up the walls so high that you don't get any cross breeze when laying down, so I've been looking at ones like this where the mesh begins at the top of the bathtub floor. BUT ... I should first get rid of the Flash 2 hybrid tent I'm currently using, as well as the Salida 2 and the GeerTop 1P tent. The Flash 2 is excellent and less than 2# if you use trekking poles, but it just requires more tying down and set up than I really care for at this point.
I have seen that Flash 2. It is an incredible tent. Nice design. I have been using the Zpacks Duplex for several years. It is an amazing tent. But, it is super expensive. I love it though. Great comment. Thanks for watching my video. Crow✌️

The Flash 2 is a process to set up, and with all those lines you have to anchor down, the amount of space you need that will accept stakes seems greater than with more freestanding models. I can't rely on that in the mountains where I could just as easily be on a granite slab covered in 2" of pine needles. Although, when guy'd out those freestanding ones might not require that much less space. They just require about 10 minutes less set-up/adjustment. 🤣.

I bought this tent. Without the poles it will pack down to 12" in the original stuff sack. This will lay horizontal in my osprey talon 33. I could probably get it smaller but that's with no effort at all.
It is a great tent. It is a a bit heavy, but, this is the second one of these tents I have gotten and I love it. Kelty tents are very durable. Appreciate you watching. Crow✌️

Do you store your tent rolled up in the stuff sack? I found that getting two large mesh bags and storing the body and fly separate and loose in the bags really helps the tent last longer.
Everyday backpacker - I store my tents in a plastic tub. I put each tent separately in a tub and store them on a shelf. I have found that it keeps aired out. The ones I use are the large bin type storage boxes with lids. I hope that answers your question. Appreciate it. Crow✌️

I just got this tent recently I wanted to scale down to a 1 man tent, I had the Salida originally but I like this tent alot and I use some construction bisquin as a footprint to protect the bottom of the tent...I didnt know the policy that Kelty had in regards to free repairs and 1/2 off a new tent..I wish I would have known that when my Salida got damaged but it was my fault anyway
Yeah, I just used this tent this past weekend. It is a wonderful tent. Kelty tents are bombproof. I had that Salida for many, many years…it finally dry rotted. But, it was well worth it. This one is great. I use it a lot. I saw the video when you talked about yours. Hope you are well my friend. Crow✌️
I have the Salida 2. The big downside I found is that the taffeta just goes too high up the walls and you don't get ventilation across your body when laying down. It's a bit weighty as well, and (like this one) only has the one door, but it's solid.
