10 gauge extension cord is a MUST. Don't risk the cord getting hot and risking a fire.

What about the vents on the top of the air conditioner? On the "side seals" thing, you might want to use some kind of foam, or maybe Reflectix to help insualte as well as seal. Oh and FYI, I am going to check to see if I can do this with my Ozark Trail cabin tent...

Great video... fantastic information. Question: If you didn't have electrical hook up... what kind of portable power station/generator (not gas) would you use? Thank you for sharing this video.

a 2000 watt generator is more than enough to run a 5,000 watt AC unit

Hello, I made this video for my kids when they borrow the tent and AC so they can set it up the way I do. So, I didn't come back here for any comments. If you still need an answer, I would get a small inverter generator. They are the quietest and a 2000 watt would run the small AC unit. You must use a heavy-duty extension cord so I would get a 10 gauge.

very smart idea, but I think you could do better by using Styrofoam panels on the "side seals" this would also insulate that part of the tent better from exchange, I will be copying your idea but I am going to insulate it better around and not use bluejeans material lol.

The Styrofoam would be nice but I wanted something less fragile and reusable

Get a fin comb for the back and gain some cooling power back

Thanks for the video. What's the brand / model for the tent?

Hello, I made this video for my kids when they borrow the tent and AC so they can set it up the way I do. So, I didn't come back here for any comments. If you still need an answer, it is an Ozark Instant tent. 8 person I believe

Don't want to have the back up above the front. Condensation will going tent.

Hello, that is why I made the stand I have it sitting on. It sits at a slight angle so the AC will actually touch the tent screen. The front is higher than the back and works great with no issues

Too hot in your house? Just use tent AC, much more efficient?
@Clouds-su3dc
@Clouds-su3dc 3 месяца назад
That is because your house roof may be a dark coloured roof, which absorbs a lot of heat, making your home much hotter. Did you know that having a white roof instead can reduce your house temperatures as much as 5°C/9°F cooler during the day meanwhile, on the surface of the white roof can be 10 to 15°C/18 to 27°F cooler compared to a dark coloured roof. 👍

What kind of tent are you using? Did you have to modify it?
@rickhayes4874
@rickhayes4874 2 года назад
No modification to the tent. It is an Ozark Instant tent and it came with the bottom flap for use as a vent. I was able to use it for the small AC unit.

Yeah let's just dig up a camp site and make the footing unstable for the next person?!
@rickhayes4874
@rickhayes4874 2 года назад
I never had to dig. But if necessary one only needs 1/4 inch wide but no deeper than 1 or 2 inches. First rain fills that back in. Meanwhile, I do not believe anyone is going to trip over a 1/4 inch wide trench. This trench was just for the side seals I made from thin plywood and blue jean material. Maybe I wasn't clear

And the fools praising this video must be denocrats, never been camping.
