I think we can all agree that Robert Lewandowski even at the age of 36 is still an elite striker and it’s no surprise that he looks back to his brilliant best under Hansi Flick (he had his best ever season under him in 2020 and would’ve had a Ballon Dor or 2 if it wasn’t for COVID). Even though last season, he had 26 goals in all competitions and was one of the highest scorers in La Liga as it was the 13rd consecutive season of his career where he scored 25+ goals or more, by his usual standards he wasn’t at the level he was a couple of years ago and as a result of his inconsistent performances and him not being decisive enough in big games at times, I remember that there was a certain section of Barcelona fans who were saying that “he’s washed, finished, we need to sell him, he needs to be benched, he can’t be a full time starter anymore, he needs to start learning Arabic, spends more time complaining and weeping when his teammates don’t pass him the ball than trying to be a leader and guide this young team, selfish only cares about himself not a team player etc. .” He didn’t have a terrible season, the issue I had with Lewandowski was his antics on the pitch and how he would throw his hands up and have a negative reaction on his teammate when he doesn’t get the pass that he wants and on top of that, when he was out of form, he never took any accountability and whether it was Xavi’s tactics or his teammates not giving him enough service, he would come out in press conferences and blame other factors that contributed to his shortcomings. Not to mention that the salary he’s on at Barcelona as he gets older is absolutely staggering as with every passing season, he’s making more money and in that regard I don’t blame people for saying that they should sell him as given their current state financially, he has high wages.

I'd love to see Bravo as a competitor and back up for Pena or vice versa. Las Palmas' keeper is benched because he refuses to sign a new contract which ends june 2026. I forgot his name but he is good and matching Barca's play style. He could be signed this winter. I would never ever like to see Haaland at Barca. Never! He doesn't match with Barca. He is too expensive and too high salary. I'd prefer Pau Victor and Ansu and Roque to do the job for us. Or a nr 9 that matches Barca's vibe. Haaland is like a robot, a machine. Not of my liking at all. I'd be sad to see him at Barca. Anyway, thanks for the updates!!! Visca guys!!! 🖤💙💜

I know it’s very early in the season, but it’s very clear that Lewandowski is far from finished and he remains one of the best strikers in the world at the age of 36 even if he’s not scoring goals at the same rate in which he did when he was in his prime at Bayern Munich. As we speak, he scored another brace yesterday and he could’ve had a hat trick if he didn’t miss a penalty in the 2nd half, he has 6 goals and 2 assists in 7 games, he’s the top scorer in the league, he looks confident and sharp hungry for goals due to the fact that he has more service this season than he did last season, he’s under a manager that knows how to bring the best out of him meaning that his strengths will be better utilized in Flick’s system as a poaching striker and with the form he’s in, he has to play every game although his workload will be managed throughout the season and they’ll consider giving him a rest. I guess that Kylian Mbappe has some competition for the Golden Boot as I know that the latter is a striker and he’s proven at this level, can you imagine if Lewandowski who’s supposed to be “finished” is the top scorer in La Liga over the “best player in the world” since we all said that football is over after Madrid signed Mbappe. As good as he is now, Barcelona in the coming years will need to replace him in the long term since unfortunately he can’t play forever and I don’t expect him to be their first choice striker in the 2-3 years as Erling Haaland (if he wants to go there) or Viktor Gyokeres would be an ideal replacement for him since it’s not easy to find a top striker in the transfer market these days due to their transfer valuation and high wage demands. At his age he still has that goalscoring touch and a testament to his longevity is that he’s leading a young team from the front with his experience and is being a decisive player for them and has contributed to their excellent run of form. If he continues scoring goals at this rate, Barcelona has a chance of not only winning La Liga, but potentially going deep in the Champions League since the team as a whole thrives when he’s in form and I think that he’ll score at least 25-30+ goals.

i'd think we'll wait until january to sign Stole Dimitrievski on loan from Valencia ! The two options which the club can go for realistically is Valles and Dimitrievski

Szczęsny is the second goalkeeper IN HISTORY who has defended two penalties during one World Cup - the first one was Tomaszewski

Whether we like him or not, Marc Andre Ter Stegen losing him for the entire season is a massive blow for Barcelona unless they’re able to dip into the transfer market in January and sign a goalkeeper who can cover for him until he returns to full fitness. Even after a big win; it’s difficult for their fans to celebrate that when one of their most important players just picked up an injury that’ll rule him out for a long period of time. Just when he was starting to cement his place as the starting goalkeeper for the Germany national team after Manuel Neuer’s retirement from international football, he’s going to be out of action for at least a year. I’m hearing a lot of talk about them potentially signing Keylor Navas and many of their fans are on board with the signing him for the short term as I would have no issue if they get him since they’re not going to get a top goalkeeper to replace MATS, but with the rumors about him going to Barca, I’m pretty sure that this could potentially have an impact on his Real Madrid legacy joining a rival club even if it wasn’t directly from them, that has to be taken in consideration. This is a transfer that could potentially happen, but to be honest, why would a Madridsta go to Barca as if this happens, I don’t think it’ll be taken lightly by their fans and since he’s a club legend, he probably doesn’t want to tarnish his image among their fanbase even though for Barcelona, there’s not a lot of options in the goalkeeping market as he’s probably their best choice. Inaki Pena isn’t a bad backup option for him as backup goalkeepers aren’t as bad as we think they are, only time will tell if he’s up for the task to play the reminder of the season as he’ll start a lot of games and they’ll need him to contribute if they are to challenge for multiple trophies. They can rely on him and then if he does well for a couple of months, they’ll probably feel as if they don’t need to sign a goalkeeper in January although that could be a dangerous move for them since it’s such a long season so many games will be played and he’s going to be their only healthy goalkeeper as of right now. A lot of people think that this injury is a blessing in disguise for them and what’s funny to me is that the people who are wishing him a speedy recovery are the same people who were calling for his head and were abusing him. This is something I don’t like about modern day fans when they think that they support the players when the reality is that they only support a player when they suffer a setback and us as modern fans need to change this behavior and back the player at all costs even during their most difficult times. From his perspective, it’s an unfortunate injury in a sense that regardless of his form, it’s a massive blow for Barcelona since Ter Stegen is an elite goalkeeper and he is very irreplaceable and one of the best players on the team in such an important position isn’t going to play for the rest of the season. The injury that he suffered yesterday was a freak accident and it can happen to anyone and I’m not blaming anyone for that, but it’s an absolute joke to me that with every passing season, the rate of injuries has continued to increase and yet FIFA and UEFA thinks that it’s a good idea to add more games to an already congested schedule, they changed the format in the champions league, they have the Club World Cup and on top of that, the players can’t get a proper rest mainly because once the season is over, they’re playing for their national teams, we had the EUROs and the Copa America last summer and yes the players had a month of rest, the season returned, there was the international break and then boom players are dropping like flies picking up injuries left right and center and nothing has been done despite the fact that managers have spoke about this for years and even the players are prepared to go on strike. They’re more interested in money and generating enough revenue rather than caring about the detrimental effects that it could have on the health of the players in the long run. I wanted to bring this up because when the players are playing too many games, it’s not their fault that they get injured at a much more frequent rate now than they did years ago even though injuries are part of the sport. Anyways, it’ll be interesting to see how Barcelona can cope without Ter Stegen since as hot as they’ve been right now, with games coming thick and fast, their injury list has continued to grow.
